Abstract

This research is an experimental research, with the aim to find out: (1) how the students' mathematical problem solving ability before the application of the Power of Two method; (2) how is the students' mathematical problem solving ability after the application of the Power of Two method; (3) whether the Power of Two method is effective on students' mathematical problem solving abilities. The population in this study were all students of class XI MA Attarbiah Islamiah Kolaka in the 2020-2021 school year which consisted of 1 class with a total of 30 students. Sampling is done by using a census or total sampling. Sampling is done by using all the population. The analysis used is descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. Furthermore, the results are based on hypothesis testing: a statistical t-test (one sample t-test) was performed. It was obtained that tcount = -8.53 with ttable = -1.67. Accept H0 if -1.67≤ tcount≤ 1.67 because tcount = -8.53 is outside the H0 acceptance interval, then H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Thus there is a significant difference between students' mathematical problem solving ability scores before using the Power of Two method and after using the Power of Two method.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low mathematics learning outcomes of students and teachers who do not use varied learning models and only use conventional learning models. The objectives of this study include: 1) to examine the learning outcomes of mathematics taught using the TSTS learning model for seventh grade students of SMPN 1 Latambaga?; 2) to examine the learning outcomes of mathematics taught by using conventional learning models for class VII students of SMPN 1 Latambaga?; 3) to find out whether the TSTS type of cooperative learning model is more effective than conventional learning models on the learning outcomes of class VII students of SMPN 1 Latambaga?. The experimental design carried out in this study was a Posttest-only Control Design. This research was conducted in the even semester of the 2015/2016 academic year. The population in this study were all eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Latambaga which consisted of 6 classes. Sampling in this study was carried out by purposive sampling technique. The sample consisted of 2 classes, one class as the experimental class and one class as the control class. The measure of the effectiveness or success of the implementation of the TSTS learning model on student learning outcomes can be seen from the implementation of the teacher's success in managing the classroom and student activity. Based on the results of data analysis obtained 1) the average mathematics learning outcomes of class VIIIE students who were taught using the TSTS learning model consisting of 23 students showed a minimum score of 65, a maximum value of 95, an average (mean) 75.9130, variance 64,447, and standard deviation 8.027; 2) the average mathematics learning outcomes of class VIII F students who are taught using the conventional learning model consisting of 24 students showing a minimum score of 45, a maximum value of 78, an average (mean) of 65.916, a variance of 87.732, and a standard deviation of 9.366; 3) the value of tcount = 3.921 with Sig. = 0.000 <α = 0.05, then it is rejected and H1 is accepted. With the acceptance of H1 it can be concluded that the TSTS type of cooperative learning model is more effective than the conventional learning model on the mathematics learning outcomes of eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Latambaga.

Abstract

The background to this research is that the learning outcomes of students at SMPN 5 Tanggetada are still relatively low, which is closely related to interest in learning. This study aims to describe the learning outcomes in terms of interest in learning mathematics at SMP Negeri 5 Tanggetada. This research was conducted in the odd semester of the 2020/2021 academic year at SMPN 5 Tanggetada. This type of research is qualitative descriptive. The subjects of this study consisted of 27 grade 7 students from SMP Negeri 5 Tanggetada. The research instruments used were: (1) a mathematics learning outcomes test consisting of 5 items; (2) interviews; (3) a learning interest questionnaire consisting of 13 statements. The results obtained: 1) there is 1 student who has high learning outcomes with high interest in learning, there is 1 student who has moderate learning outcomes with high interest in learning, 1 student with low learning outcomes with a moderate interest in learning; 2) For high grade learning outcomes there are 11 students, for medium learning outcomes there are 7 students and low grade there are 9 students. 3) For the high interest category for learning there are 2 students, for the medium category there are 17 students and for the low category there are 8 students.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the desire to know the improvement of student learning outcomes by maximizing the use of mathematics learning media with three-dimensional real objects media. Less interesting learning without the support of effective media and on average students do not like mathematics, causing students' math scores to be low. The low learning outcomes are more visible, especially in abstract subjects that require the use of learning media. The problem studied is "Can maximizing the use of mathematics learning media with three-dimensional real objects media on cubes and blocks material can improve students' mathematics learning outcomes in class VIIIA SMP Negeri 2 Samaturu?". With the action hypothesis, maximizing the use of mathematics learning media with three-dimensional real objects on cubes and blocks can improve mathematics learning outcomes for class VIIIA students of SMP Negeri 2 Samaturu. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in collaboration between teachers, observers and researchers with research procedures that include planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The subjects studied were students in class VIIIA with a total of 29 students. The types of data obtained are qualitative data and quantitative data which are analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The results obtained by referring to the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM), namely at least 75% of students have obtained a minimum score of 70. In the first cycle of action evaluation, classical completeness was 55.17% with an average value of 69.44. After the evaluation of the second cycle of action, the classical completeness achieved was 86.21% which obtained a score of 70 with an average value of 82.86. So it can be concluded that by maximizing the use of learning media with three-dimensional real objects media can improve mathematics learning outcomes for class VIIIA students of SMP Negeri 2 Samaturu.

Abstract

The formulation of the problem in this study are: (1) How is the description of the learning independence of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Loea?; (2) What is the description of the mathematical reasoning ability of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Loea?; (3) Is there a significant effect between learning independence on the mathematical reasoning ability of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Loea?. This research is a quantitative research with the type of Ex Post Facto research. The population in this study were all grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Loea for the academic year 2020/2021 with a sampling technique that was simple random sampling where sample members from the population were taken randomly without regard to the strata in the population. So that the sample in this study amounted to 30 people. The data collection technique in this study was a learning independence questionnaire and a matter of mathematical reasoning ability. Data analysis used simple regression analysis. The results of the regression equation obtained in this study are The results of this study indicate that: (1) Descriptively from the data on the learning independence of class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Loea students are in the high category, based on the average student learning independence of 65, 51 so that it can be concluded that the learning independence of class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Loea students is in the high category; (2) Descriptively from the data on the mathematical reasoning ability of class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Loea is in the less category based on the average mathematical reasoning ability of students which is 40.33 so it can be concluded that the mathematical reasoning ability of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Loea is at less category.; (3) There is a significant effect between learning independence on the mathematical reasoning ability of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Loea, this can be seen from the results of the F test calculations, where the results of the F test calculations get Fcount = 12.257 while the Ftable value is 4, 20. because Fcount = 12,257 > Ftable = 4,20, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence between independent learning on the mathematical reasoning ability of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Loea; (4) From the analysis of the coefficient of determination obtained a score of 0.307, which means that students' mathematical reasoning ability is influenced by independent learning with 31% and the remaining 69% is influenced by other factors.
