Abstract

This study aims to describe, translate and translate the classic manuscript text entitled Hikayat Maharaja Ali. This research is included in philological research because it aims to understand the texts of ancient manuscripts and thus allow further interpretation and use of these texts based on this understanding. The object of philological research is ancient texts and manuscripts. The method used is the philological method based on the phylological research stages. At the data collection stage, the literature study method was used; descriptive method is used at the description stage of the manuscript; at the script transfer stage, the script transfer method is used; at the translation stage, the translation method is used. The result of the research is a description of information about the Hikayat Maharaja Ali manuscript, the transcription form of the Hikayat Maharaja Ali script in Latin script, and the translation form of the Hikayat Maharaja Ali script in Indonesian.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the form of religious schadenfreude reflected on written comments on news. The data in this study were the documentation of comments on national and international news posted on the Youtube channel of national online news portal such as Tribun, Kompas and Liputan 6. It was found that religious Schadenfreude among Indonesian netizens exists in two major situations: Inter-religious relationship and within the religion itself. This phenomenon occurs in an empathetic situation in the form of religious stereotyping, trash-talking other religions and beliefs, the satisfaction of other’s misfortune. To conclude, the religious schadenfreude phenomenon among Indonesian netizens more likely occurs because society focus on the difference exists within the community. Therefore, promoting the beauty of religious diversity is required to eliminate antipathy and provide another perspective on pluralism and multiculturalism.

Abstract

This paper discusses the equivalent of Arabic proverbs and English proverbs through a study of contrastive analysis. Contrastive analysis is a method that plays an important role in linguistic analysis whether it is a comparison between two or more languages to explore similarities and differences between the two languages. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study using a hermeneutic and cultural communicative approach. The author uses this hermeneutic approach to find the meaning of the interpretation of the Arabic proverbial text and the English proverb. Meanwhile, the communicative culture approach is used as an attempt to translate the meanings of symbols of two or more cultures that are reflected in the literary text, then the two are contrasted. The implicit cultural value can be found in the communication process through the terms found in the translation and equivalent of the proverb text, which can be in harmony with the original meaning of the two. The findings in this study are that the application of contrastive analysis has shown the equivalent and appropriate meaning and function represented by Arabic and English proverbs about patience, determination, indiscipline, youth, and truth. So this analysis has implications for understanding communication in social life.

Abstract

This paper discusses the illocutionary speech acts of the Mie Indomie advertisement poster for the 2019-2020 period which was published on the Indomie Egypt - facebook account. This study focuses on discussing the communicative forms and functions of illocutionary speech acts contained in the Mie Indomie advertising poster for the 2019-2020 period, as well as what speech modes are used when marketing the product. All of the focus of this research will be dissected by using the theory of illocutionary speech acts proposed by Searle. The results showed that during the 2019-2020 period, the Mie Indomie company launched 18 advertising posters. Where out of these 18 advertisement posters, 12 Mie Indomie advertisement posters use declarative speech mode, 4 advertisement posters use imperative speech mode, and 2 posters use interrogative speech mode. As for the speech function, there are 7 MieIndomie advertising posters that use assertive speech functions, 7 advertising posters that use directive speech functions, and 4 advertising posters that use commissive speech functions with each communicative function.

Abstract

This paper examines the conversational implicatures in the Arabic film Uwais al qarni by Akbar Tahvilian. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. This study focuses on discussing the types of conversational implicatures contained in the Uwais al-Qarni film. The data of this study were analyzed based on George Yule's theory of conversational implicature. With the results found from the Uwais Al Qarni film, the special conversation implicatures are 11 data with the form and form of accusation 2 data, request 3 data, ridicule 1 data, rejection 4 data, hyperbolic 1 data. As well as general conversation implicatures 15 data in the form and form of 8 data reports, 3 data requests, 2 data ridicule, 3 data denials. Conversational implicatures on a scale of 1 data in the form and form of reports or informing.
