Abstract

Global warming is happened cause by prolonged drought, forest fires, floods and landslides. High carbon emissions from industries, burning of forests and peatlands exacerbate these conditions. Excessive gas emission has the potential to be a barrier to the reflection of infrared rays from the earth into the atmosphere and it has a warming effect, which is then called the greenhouse effect. Wood is one of the plants that have extractive components that can absorb carbon emissions most effectively. The study aims to determine the extractive components of sengon and johar wood that can capture formaldehyde emissions. The research design used a one-factor Complete Randomized Design, namely the type of sengon wood and johar wood with analyzed using the SPSS program. The parameters observed were specific gravity, extractive content and formaldehyde emission. The results showed that sengon and johar wood types had different specific gravity, extractive content and formaldehyde emission. The average density of sengon wood is 0,236, extractive which is soluble in cold water 3,653%, in hot water 4,158%, soluble alcohol bensen 3,660%, and formaldehyde emission 0,927 ppm. The average density of johar wood is 0.650, extractive which is soluble in cold water 5.020%, in hot water 8.740%, soluble alcohol bensen 10.310% and formaldehyde emission 0.473 ppm. Extractive components that play an important role in absorbing carbon emissions are extractive components that dissolve in cold water and hot water, where the extractive component contains polar organic compounds, such as sugar, dyes, tannin, gum, protein and starch. Keywords: Extractive, global warming, formaldehyde emissions

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of varieties and duration of leaf storage on yield and quality of cajuput oil. The study used a completely randomized design with factorial experiments. The first factor is the variety of eucalyptus plants and the second factor is the duration of leaf storage. The parameters observed in the study included yield, specific gravity, refractive index, optical rotation, cineol content, oil color and solubility in alcohol. The results showed that the variety and duration of leaf storage had a very significant effect only on the yield yield parameters, with a value of 0, 7%, while the quality of cajuput oil such as cineol content, specific gravity, refractive index, does not have a real effect, but for optical rotation has a real effect. The results of the study show the quality standard on the color parameters and cineol content of cajuput oil have not been included in the range of the Indonesian National Standard, but the values of specific gravity, refractive index, optical rotation and solubility in alcohol have met the Indonesian National Standard. Keywords: plant varieties, storage time, oil quality

Abstract

One problem in Falcataria mollucana cultivation is attack of gall rust disease caused by Uromycladium tepperianum fungi. This disease attack almost all parts of tree, so can detain the growth and cause death of tree. The efforts to control this disease always be tried, but until now its result is not satisfactory. Purpose of this study is to know effect of controlling materials composition against growth of U. tepperianum fungi as cause of gall rust disease at F. mollucana. The research used completely randomized design with controlling materials composition as treatment factor, namely lime, sulphur, mix of lime and sulphur solution, and tar solution. Observed parameters were percentage of U. tepperianum weight reduction and diameter increased of F. mollucana after one month treatment. Result of the research showed that controlling materials composition gived significant effect to percentage of fungi weight reduction, but was not significant effect againts diameter increased of F. mollucana. Tar solution resulted highest percentage of fungi weight reduction than others controlling materials, with 100% score (fungi did not grow again after treatment). Keywords: Uromycladium tepperianum, gall rust disease, controlling materials composition

Abstract

One of main supplier on wood industry is Sengon from private forestland. Sengon can be harvested at 5 years. Sengon has been planted in various areas, one of them in Widodomartani, Ngemplak , Sleman, Yogyakarta Province. The succes silviculture sengon if from planting to harvesting with good practice. One of supported succes planting is used depht holes and basic fertilizer. This research aims to determine the growth at eight month plants on some planting depth holes and compost dosis. Planting is done with a distance of 2 x 2 m in the planting hole measuring control, long and wide with same each 30 cm, 40 cm, and 50 cm . The planting hole each used 2 kg and 3 kg compost. The growth data (height and diameter) was taken in each treatment (7 treatments) and each treatment by three repeated. The data obtained were analyzed by Anova and if there were significant differences in the factors, followed by the UJGD test. The analysis showed that the treatment is significantly affect to the height and diameter growth. The growth rate of Sengon at 8th months planted is plant height 266,86 cm and 24,70 mm diameter. The planting holes 40 cm x 40 cm x 40 cm and 2 kg compost giving optimal result. The best growth of Sengon treatment is planting holes 50 cm x 50 cm x 50 cm and 2 kg compost with plant height 336 cm and 30,6 mm diameter at the 8th months plants. Abstract

Tawangmangu Ecotourism Forest located at Karanganyar District, have potency of natural view and unique landscape as natural ecotourism and education. Characteristics of visitor and its demand, tourism area wide (Douglas, 1982), maximum area for tourism (Soemarwoto, 1985), and physical building wide (Pamulardi, 1994) area very useful to analysis of benefit and its developmentResearch is conducted by questionnaire with accidental sampling method for visitor, field measurement for plysical building and gathering of secondary data from tourism office. The result indicate that total physical building and its facilities is 6.5% and area of tourism is 15% from total ecotourism forest area. Main visitors are high school students, college students, and domestic tourist with age 15 – 30 years old. They came from Karanganyar, Sragen, Semarang and Yogyakarta. By SWOT analysis, strategy of development of Tawangmangu ecotourism forest can be done by some following steps : rearrangement distribution of visitor not only around water fall, but also another interested object, differentiations of holiday ticket and non holiday ticket in order to visitors at holiday not overland, development some new object around waterfall in order to visitor not accumulated around waterfall, make new alternative tourism packages which interesting and variety, approach of indigenous culture and art for some object, and development of new marketing strategy for national scale. Keywords: Benefit Analysis, Ecotourism Forest
