This research attempts to improve students’ achievement in writing narrative by using torytelling Technique. The result showed the improvement of students’ achievement in writing hortatory exposition text. It was found that the mean of the students’ scores in every test was improved. In the first test, the mean was 36.13 and there was 10% of the students who got up 75 points (Minimum Completeness Criteria), in the second test, it was 75.45 and 63.33% of the students who got up 75 points, and in the last one, the mean was 82.53 and there was 90% of the students who got up 75 points.The students felt enthusiastic, enjoyable, and active in teaching learning process by using storytelling Technique.The result of the research showed the progress of achievement scores, it can be concluded that storytelling gives contribution to improve students’ achievement in writing narrative.

This study focused on the improvement of students’ achievement on writingnarrative text by using Clustering technique. The main objective of this study toknow whether clustering technique could significantly improve students’achievement in writing narrative text. It was conducted by applying classroomaction research which consisted two cycles in six meetings. Every meetingconsisted of four phases. The subject of this study was second grade students ofSMA Perguruan Sumatera Tanjung Morawa. Total of students was 29. Theinstruments for collecting data were writing tests for quantitative data and diarynotes, observation sheet, questionnaire sheet for qualitative data. Based on thestudents’ test, the students’ score was improved in every test. In Test I, the meanscore was 59,41. In the Test II, the mean score was 69,65. In the test III, the meanscore of the students was 78,17. The using clustering technique in every test tendsto be more effective. So, the mean of test improves and gets better.

The objective of this study is to investigate whether the application of ReciprocalTeaching Method significantly improves the students’ achievement on readingcomprehension recount text. This study was conducted by using classroom actionresearch. The subject of this research was the second grade of SMP Istiqlal Deli Tuawhich consisted of 36 students. The research was conducted in two cycles. The firstcycle consisted of three meetings and second cycle consisted of three meetings. Theinstruments for collecting the quantitative data were multiple choice and essay test forreading and the instruments for collecting the qualitative data were observation sheet,interview sheet, questionnaire sheet, and diary notes. Based on the analysis, students’achievement was improved in every test. In test I, the mean score was 67.11. In test II incycle I, the mean score was 74.67, and in the test III in cycle II, the mean score was82.78. Based on the observation sheet, interview sheet, questionnaire sheet, and diarynotes, it was found that the teaching learning process ran well. The students were moreactive and enthusiastic in working in group. It was concluded that Reciprocal TeachingMethod can improve the students’ achievement in reading recount text.

This study concerned with the improvement of students’ achievement in writing recounttext by applying Peer Response technique. The objective of this study was to discoverwhether peer response technique could significantly improve students’ achievement inwriting recount text. It was conducted by using classroom action research which wascarried out in two cycles in six meetings. The subject of the research was class X-1SMA Negeri 1 Deli Tua. The number of the students was 32. The instruments forcollecting data were writing tests as the quantitative data and diary notes, observationsheet, interview sheet and questionnaire sheet as qualitative data. Based on the students’writing test, the students’ score was improved in every test. In the first test, the meanscore was 62.93. In the second test, the mean score was 72.21. In the last test, the meanscore of the students was 77.28. In line with the data, it was showed that peer responsetechnique significantly improved student’s achievement in writing recount text.

This study concerned with the improvement of students’ reading comprehensionachievement in descriptive reading through Advance Organizer Strategy. The objectiveof this study was to investigate whether the application of Advance Organizer Strategysignificantly improves the students’ achievement in reading comprehension especiallydescritpive reading. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. Thesubject of this study was class VIII of SMP Swasta Padamu Negeri Medan, consisted of32 students. The research was conducted in two cycles; each cycle consisted of threemeetings. The instruments of data collections were reading tests for the quantitativedata, and observation sheets, interview sheet and diary notes for the qualitative data. Bythe end of Cycle II there was an improvement as much as 91.5 points in the mean of thestudents’ score or 94% higher than the test I. The research findings proved that AdvanceOrganizer Strategy can significantly improve students’ achievement in readingcomprehension especially descriptive reading.

The objectives of this Classroom Action Research (CAR) was to discover the application of animation movie in writing a narrative paragraph of Grade X students State Islamic Senior High School (Madrasah Aliyah Negeri: MAN), Pematangsiantar. The study was conducted in two cycles, i.e. cycle I and II, following the four steps of CAR, are: (1) Planning, (2) Action, (3) Observation, and (4) Reflection. The Instruments used for qualitative data were: observations, diary notes, and interview. The writing test was used as quantitative data. The results of the data analysis showed that the teaching-learning process was satisfactory the mean of the orientation test score was 61.85 while the mean of students’ score in cycle I was 74.31 and cycle II 80.28 in conclusion, it can be said that animation movie has shown the students’ interest and Thus English teachers are suggested to apply media in the teaching-learning process.

This study attempts to improve students’ achievement in writing Analytical Expositionthrough Debate Technique. This study was conducted by using classroom actionresearch. The subject of the research was class XI IPA-1 SMAN 1 Pancur Batuconsisting of 36 students. The research was conducted in two cycles and consisted of sixmeetings. The instruments for collecting data were writing tests as the quantitative dataand diary notes, observation sheet, and interview sheet as qualitative data. Based on thewriting score, students’ scores kept improving in every test. In the first cycle test, themean of writing score was 61,67. In the second cycle test the mean of writing score was71,36. Based on diary notes, observation sheet and questionnaire sheet, it was found thatstudents were actively involved in writing process. The result of the research showedthat Debate Technique can improve students’ achievement in writing AnalyticalExposition.

This study is aimed to find out whether the five-sense technique can improve the students’ achievement in writing descriptive paragraph. This study was conducted by using Classroom Action Research. The subject of this study is the second grade VIII-B students of SMP Trisakti 2 Medan. The number of the subject was 30 students. This thesis applied in two cycle and six meetings. The qualitative data were taken from diary notes, observation sheet and questionnaire sheet. The quantitative data were taken from the mean of the students’ score in writing test. Based on the data, the students’ score got improvement in every cycle. In Test I, the mean of the students’ scores was 61.43 while in Test II, the mean of the stydents’ scores was 70.46 and in Test III, the mean of students’ scores was 77.93. Based on the result of quantitative data, it was found that there was improvement on students’ achievement in writing descriptive paragraph.

This study was conducted as an attempt to improve students’ speaking achievement in reporting procedure text by using video. It was a Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subject was students of Grade X, senior high school ( sekolah menengah atas) Budisatrya Medan, which consisted of 35 students. The research was carried out in two cycles and each cycle consisted of three meetings. The instruments used to collect the data were speaking test as quantitative data and Observation sheet, Interview, Questionnaire, and Diary Notes as qualitative data. The results of the speaking tests showed that the students’ score improved in every test. The mean of the students’ score in Orientation test was 51.68, the mean of the students’ score in Cycle I was 65.28, and the mean in cycle II was 81.05. The mean score in cycle II was highest, so it can be said that the students’ speaking achievement improved from 51.68 to 81.05. Based on the Observation Sheet, Interview, Questionnaire, and Diary Notes, it was found that teaching- learning process ran well. The findings of study indicate that using Video significantly improved the students’ speaking achievement. So, English teachers are suggested to use Video in order to improve the students’ speaking achievement in reporting a procedure text.

This study deals with improving students’ questioning achievement through picture word inductive model. The subject of the research was class X SMA Amir Hamzah Medan consisted of 22 students. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The instruments for collecting data were oral test for quantitative data and diary notes, interview, observation list, and questionnaire sheet for qualitative data. The result of the research showed that the mean of the students’ scores in the second cycle (80.63) was higher than in the first cycle (70.36). Based on the qualitative data, the students studies more enthusiastically during teaching learning process in the second cycle. It can be concluded that picture word inductive model could improve students’ questioning achievement.
