Focus and Scope Jurnal Riset Manajemen dan Bisnis (p-ISSN: 1907-7343; e-ISSN: 2714-7312) adalah jurnal yang dipublikasikan oleh Fakultas Bisnis Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana yang terbit dua kali setahun (Juli dan Desember). Jurnal ini didedikasikan sebagai sarana untuk berbagi dan diseminasi studi-studi terbaru dari para peneliti manajemen dan bisnis. Artikel-artikel empiris yang menyajikan riset yang akurat dan teliti secara metodologis dan temuan yang mencerahkan sangat dinantikan. Abstract

This research is empirically examined the factors fficting exchange rate. The examination will employ three models, namely, classical linier model, autoregressive, and granger. The data are drann from Indonesian monthly macro economics indicators, narnely, interest, inflation, and exchange rate. The data'is collected from 2005-2007. The empirical result of this research indicates that the most fficient model is Granger Causality Model. Moreover, the result also find that interest and inflation rate affect the exchanged rate.Keywords: Interest, inflation, exchange rate, classical linier model, autoregressiu.e, and granger causality model

Abstract

The obiective of this research is to examine the interdependent relationship between agency cost and board characteristics.. ising two ways i measurement, namely, ratios of OPEX and ATO, agency cost is hypothesized to have a simultaneous relationship with board characteristics miasured by board size and the proportion of outside directors. Farthermore, the variabieof corporate ownership measured by managerial ownership and blockholder ownership is used to examine its ffict on both agency cost and board characteristics. (Ising manufacturing industry listed at Jakarta Stock Exchange as the sample, the result shows the interdependent relationship issupported as well as the effect of corporate ownership on agency cost and board characteristics. Moreover the result also shows that agency cost measured by OPEX, robustly explain the interdependent relationship compare to ATO.Keywords: Corporate ownership, agency cost, board characteristics

Abstract

This research examines three hypotheses, firstly, the effect of service quality on customer satisfaction, ,rrorily the effict oT rutto*ir sat;sfaction on trust and commitment, and finally the effict of trust on commitrnent. These examinations will be placed on retail sentice provider, namely, Carrefour Ambarulcrno Plaza, Yogyakana. The sample of this research is randomly drawn from 200 respondents. By using Structural Equation Modelins 6EM) the results shows that some of the hypotheses are supported. The four aspects of service quality which are responsiveness, assurance, empathy and tangible have a significant effect on customer satisfaction. Conversely, the other aspect of service quality, namely reliability does not affect customer satisfaction.Moreover, customer satisfaction significantly affects customer trust as well as trust on comminnent.Keywords: Service quality, satisfaction, trust, commitment, SEM, Carrefour

Abstract

This research examines the existence of inter-induxry information on earning announcement especially for companies within specific sector. The sample is derived from companies which announce their earning on 2003 until 2005. Further, the sample is divided into two groups, namely, control sample and treatment sample. The result shows that earning announcement wkich contains good news will be positively responded by the investor. On the contrary, the bad news on earning announcement will be negatively responded. Baised on the result, it can conclude that inter-industry information exist on earning announcement.Keywords: Inter-industry, earning announcement, good news, bad news

Abstract

Entrepreneurship recently becomes essentials as an indicator of countrtes' economic development. Some developed countries such as America, (JK, France and Japan happen to be an obvious example on how economic development is significantly affected by the growth of ,entrepreneurship. Due toits significant effect, many believe that entrepreneurship can enhance the wealth of the community, create job opportunities, provide new products and services, and contribute large number of tax paid to the govemment. The objectives of this research are to identify entrepreneurship characteristics an^d to determine the effect of those characteristics on theintention to be an entrepreneur. The 100 students of Duta Wacana Christian University wilt be used as a sample, except for student on the depar-trnent of Theology. Using two methods of data analysis, namely, Cochran Test,,and Multiple Regression, the results shows six prevailing characte:ristics af entrepreneurship that are; 1) learn from past experiences, 2) self-goveming personality, 3) competitive personality, 4) challenge-seeker personality, 5) future oriented personality, and 6) motivation. Furtherrnore, the result also finds that amongst six characteistics, only challenge-seeker personality candemonst:rate significant effect on intention to be an entrepreneur.Keywords: Entrepreneurship characteristics, intention, Cochran, multipleregression
