Abstract

Teaching internship program are designed to smooth the transition from students to teachers. And classroom management is one of the important factors that should be mastered by the students’ teachers to control and overcome the problems in the classroom. This study aims at investigating how do the students’ teachers manage the class in their practice teaching internship program. This research utilized descriptive qualitative research. There were ten students’ teachers that involved as participants in this research. The data were collected through (1) self-reflections of the students’ teachers and (2) interview which sought the information about the student teachers’ in managing classroom management. The results of reflective teaching journal with instruments; the document and interview that is identifying based on Danielson’ framework, most of the students’ teachers are succeeded in managing classroom in their practice teaching internship. The result of document, including; in management of instructional groups there are six students teachers they are in distinguished level, in the management of transition there are eight students teachers are at the distinguished level, in management of materials and supplies, all of the students’ teachers are at a distinguished level, In the performance of non-instructional duties the researcher identified, three students teachers in distinguished level. Therefore, the researcher concluded that the students teachers succeeded in managing classroom management.

Abstract

This study discusses the analysis of figurative language in Tulus’ songs. The purpose of this research to determine the types of the figurative language contained in the songs. The researcher focuses on the most dominant figurative language. The source is taken from ten Tulus’ song that the title is Sewindu, Sepatu, Teman Hidup, Gajah, Jangan Cintai Aku Apa Adanya, Manusia Kua, Ruang Rindu, Langit Abu-abu, Monokrom, 1000 Tahun lamanya. The research design used in this research is qualitative, research with document analysis as a data collection technique based on Miles, Huberman, Saldana (2014). From the analysis that has been done, it was found 62 figurative languages contained in the ten songs selected in the Tulus’ songs. The figurative language found in this study is categorized based on the Perrine (in Arp, 2012). The data found were hyperbola (17 data), personification (13 data), symbol ( 10 data), simile (7 data), metaphor (5 data), metonymy (5 data), irony (2 data), allegory (1datum), paradox (1 datum), synecdoche, apostrophe, and litotes were not found in the ten of Tulus songs.

Abstract

The study aims to find out figurative languages used in Toeti Heraty’s Poems. The source is taken from Toeti Hearty’s poems. The research design used in this research is qualitative research with document analysis as a data collection technique. Abrams and Harpham’s theory (2005) used to analyze the data related to the types of figurative language. The results of the study showed that there are some types of figurative language used in Toeti Heraty’s poems such as simile, metaphor, hyperbole, alliteration, onomatopoeia, personification, symbol, repetition, and assonance. The result shows that the most figurative languages found in Toeti Heraty’s poems are personification. From the analysis that has been done, it was found 79 figurative languages contained in the four poems. The data found were personification consists of 19 data, repetition consists of 15 data, alliteration consists of 12 data, assonance consists of 9 data, metaphor consists of 7 data, hyperbole consists of 7 data, symbol consists of 7 data, simile consist of 3 data, and onomatopoeia consists 1 datum.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the reasons of the English teachers use code mixing in teaching English at SMP Negeri 6 Banda Aceh. Three English teachers were purposively selected as the participants in this study. Qualitative research was employed as the research method to collect the data through an interview. The findings of this study showed that the teachers of English used code mixing in the language classroom was to clarify the speech content for interlocutors (students), which was intended to give a clearer understanding when explaining learning materials so that students did not get confused about the teacher’s explanations. In addition, repeating for clarification was another reason of English teachers use code mixing in the classroom. It was conducted to clarify if the teacher’s instructions were not understandable by students. For this purpose, she inserted some words or phrases in Indonesian so that the student got the meaning and understood what the teacher said. In conclusion, the use of code mixing has significantly brought positive impacts on EFL learning classroom to help students in understanding learning materials and the teacher‟s explanations.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to find out the social values and characteristics of main character in Hafalan Shalat Delisa Novel written by Tere Liye. In this study the researcher used qualitative methods. The researcher read the novel Hafalan Shalat Delisa and then explored the social values and characteristics of main character contain in the novel. Hafalan Shalat Delisa Novel is a novel that tells about a six-year-old girl and her family who were hit by a tsunami disaster in Aceh on December 26, 2004. The novel describes about Acehnese girl name Delisa, a Tsunami Victim and how she survived. This study was conducted to analyze the social values and characteristics of main character in the novel. The social values contained in this novel are education, religious, caring others, honesty, affection, friendship, mutual, and helping others. Moreover, the characteristics of the main character contained in this novel are appreciate, quick in imitating other’s speech, kind, carious, forgetful and never giving up.
