Cakrawala: Jurnal Ilmu Pendidikan (P-ISSN:1858-4497, E-ISSN: 2549-9300) is a scholarly journal aimed to provide a platform for both established and early-career researchers. This journal accepts research-based papers from the fields of Teaching and Learning; Language and Literacy Education; and Applied Human Development in the Context of Schooling with submissions accepted throughout the year. It is published biannually, May and November, by Universitas Pancasakti Tegal, Indonesia. Papers are all subject to peer review before being accepted for inclusion. Contributions for future editions are welcome. Starting from Vol. 12 No. 1, Cakrawala has been accredited SINTA 3 by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Ristekdikti) of The Republic of Indonesia based on Director Decree No. 23/E/KPT/2019 dated 08 Agustus 2019. The Decree is as an achievement for the Peer-reviewed journal which has excellent quality in management and publication and is effective for 5 years until 2023.

Abstract

The World’s Best Fairy Tales is a well-known book and contains sixty nine best-loved stories over the world. However, the storieswritten in The World’s Best Fairy Tales contain too long and complicated sentences for Junior High School students in Indonesiaespecially in SMPN 1 Slawi. This problem can be solved by simplifying of The World’s Best Fairy Tales. The R&D steps are used toknow the existing materials, kinds of materials needed by the students, how the simplified materials developed, the advantages ofteaching and learning using the simplified materials, and the effectivennes of the simplified materials toward students’ achievement.The result was simplified materials giving positive influence to the students and able to motivate them in learning English.

Abstract

This study was to investigate the memory related strategy in relation to students’ motivation in writing procedure texts. The problemsstatement were formulated as follows: (1) what problems were faced by the students?; (2) how was Memory-related Strategy beimplemented by the students?; (3) how could Memory-related strategy improve students’ motivation in writing procedure texts? Thedesign of the research was a Classroom Action Research. The subjects of this study were the seventh grader of SMP Negeri of 1Larangan which consists of 38 students. This study was implemented in three cycles. The instruments used to collect the data wereobservation sheet, questionnaire, and students’ product. The collected data were analyzed qualitatively. The score of students’ writingimproved from pre cycle to cycle 1 to cycle 2. It can be concluded that the use of memory related strategy was able to make the studentsenjoy the writing activities.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menyajikan penggunaan gambar-gambar pada pembelajaran menulis untuk meningkatkan partisipasi siswa dalammenulis teks naratif. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilaksanakan di SMA Negeri 1 Bulakamba.Subyek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI Sosial 3. Dengan menerapkan gambar pada pembelajaran menulis, partisipasipara siswa dalam menulis meningkat. Hal ini ditandai dengan hasil penilaian menulis mereka yang meningkat dan partisipasimenulis mereka juga meningkat. Ini bisa dilihat dari hasil penilaian mereka pada siklus 1 dan 2. Peningkatan kualitas menulismereka dinilai dengan menggunakan komponen-komponen menulis. Indikator peningkatan partisipasi siswa juga bisa dicapai. Halini menunjukan bahwa strategi penggunaan gambar-gambar pada pembelajaran menulis efektif untuk meningkatkan partisipasisiswa dalam menulis teks naratif
