Abstract

Hypertension is a condition where the systolic blood pressure is more than or equal to 140 mmHg and the diastolic blood pressure is more than or equal to 90 mmHg after taking two or more measurements. This study aims to determine the effect of hydrotherapy on reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients in the working area of the Bangkala Health Center, Makassar City. This study uses a quasi-experimental research design and the research design is one group pretest- posttest. This study used one intervention group. The samples used in this study were 16 people who had hypertension. The treatment group will be given hydrotherapy for 15 minutes with warm water temperature of 38-40oC every day for 7 days every morning. Data analysis used paired t-test. The statistical test results of the hydrotherapy treatment were effective in reducing blood pressure with a p value <0.05. Hydrotherapy treatment can reduce systolic blood pressure by 5.0 mmHg and reduce diastolic blood pressure by 5.5 mmHg. The results of the paired t-test of systolic and diastolic blood pressure pretest-posttest hydrotherapy p = 0.001 (p <0.05) means that both treatments have an effect on reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients. The conclusion from this study is that hydrotherapy has an effect on reducing systolic and diastolic blood pressure in hypertensive patients

Abstract

Hypertension is a chronic condition characterized by high pressure in the arteries of the human body. As a result, the heart is forced to work more intensively to improve blood circulation in the body normally. This study aims to determine the effect of stress therapy on blood pressure in hypertensive patients in the working area of the Tamamaung Community Health Center, Makassar City. This study uses a quantitative research method with a quasy experimental research design by designing a two group pre-test post-test design. As for the sample calculation using the experimental formula that is obtained as many as 32 samples which will be divided each 16 respondents in the intervention group and the control group. Blood pressure was measured before laughing therapy was carried out and measured again after 3 times of therapy. Each group was given therapy 3 times for 7 days. The statistical test used is the paired sample t-test. The results of the paired sample t-test showed that there was a significant effect of reduced therapy on reducing blood pressure in the treatment group where systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure after therapy p 0.000 < a 0.05. The conclusion of this study is that there is an effect of giving therapy which has an effect on reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients in the working area of the Tamamaung Public Health Center, Makassar City.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is one of the ten health problems according to the World Health Organization (WHO) that causes death and disability globally. Diabetes is also associated with an increased chance of cognitive decline as determined by the MMSE score. Chronic exposure to hyperglycemia can reward cognitive function because apart from causing schizophrenia, this disease can also lead to other cognitive dysfunction diseases such as Alzheimer's and dementia. This study aims to describe cognitive dysfunction in patients with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus at Faisal Islamic Hospital Makassar. The research design used in this research is qualitative research with a naturalistic approach. The number of samples carried out with non-probability sampling technique with a large sample of 67 people. Relationship test was carried out using the Chi-Square statistical test with a significance level of α <0.05. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between high blood sugar and impaired cognitive function in type 2 DM patients (p=0.00 <0.05). The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between increased blood sugar and cognitive dysfunction problems in type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (DM) patients at Faisal Islamic Hospital, Makassar City.
