Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the knowledge, practice and attitude of street food vendors in Biliran Province, Philippines, towards food handling. Street food vending is a major source of livelihood for many Filipinos, but it is also a source of health risks due to improper food handling. The study aimed to identify the factors that influence the food handling practices of street food vendors in Biliran Province. A descriptive cross-sectional survey was conducted among street food vendors in Biliran Province. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data on street food vendors' knowledge, practice and attitude towards food handling. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the data. The results showed that most of the street food vendors in Biliran Province had inadequate knowledge and practice regarding food handling. Most respondents had a positive attitude towards food handling but lacked adequate information on the proper food handling practices. The results of this study suggest that street food vendors in Biliran Province need to be provided with adequate information and training on food handling to improve their knowledge and practice. The local government should also consider implementing health and safety regulations to ensure street food safety.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the cultural heritage of Biliran, an island province of the Philippines, and how it can be revitalized. The methodology used in this study was qualitative and included interviews with local stakeholders, observation of traditional practices, and a review of existing literature. The results indicate that the traditional practices of Biliran are in decline, with the younger generations showing little interest in preserving them. Factors contributing to this decline include the lack of financial resources, the impact of technology, and the absence of a formal education system for preserving traditional practices. The discussion of the results focuses on potential strategies for revitalizing cultural heritage in Biliran, such as increasing access to financial resources, promoting digital literacy among the younger generations, and developing a formal education system to teach traditional practices. The conclusion and recommendation of the study are that a comprehensive strategy should be developed to ensure the preservation of cultural heritage in Biliran. Such a strategy should include initiatives to increase access to resources, promote digital literacy, and develop an education system that is relevant to the local context.

Abstract

Using data from the Regional Education Office of Medan City and triangulating with Policy Actor from North Sumatera Education Quality Assurance (BPMP Sumut), this study explores the Learn From Home (BDR) Policy implementation in Medan City during the Academic Year of 2020-2021 with a qualitative assessment referred to guidelines from the Indonesia Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (MoECRT) Minister Circular Letter No. 04/2020 and Secretary General Circular Letter No. 15/2020. Findings indicated that during the Academic Year of 2020-2021, 88% of Primary students participated in BDR Online (Daring), while 12% in BDR Offline (Luring), with a case of 786 untracked students in two sub-districts. Public Schools tend to have higher Student-Teacher ratios than Private Schools. Across sub-districts in Medan City, 75% (10,010 teachers) are Honorary teachers, and 25% (3,311 teachers) are State Civil Workers (ASN). Collectively, the Total of Students per Study Group (Rombongan Belajar/rombel) follows the Minister of Education and Culture Regulation No. 22/2016 concerning Process Standards for Primary and Secondary Education with a ratio of students-rombel between 21 to 28. At Public Schools, the ratio of students-rombel is slightly exceeded the suggested ratio, with the total number of students per rombel between 22-29. However, the findings mainly vary when comparing schools in the same sub-district or across the sub-district. Based on qualitative assessment findings indicated that Learn from Home (Belajar Dari Rumah) Policy implementation was misaligned in two areas; (1)Data collection on students' BDR situation and (2) students' admission (PPDB) mechanism.

Abstract

Diarrhea is an endemic disease that causes individuals to excrete feces with a liquid consistency that have frequency of three or more times a day. The disease is caused by gastrointestinal infection due to the introduction of disease agents that can be transmitted through food, water, eating utensils, hands and flies. One of the causative agents of diarrhea is Escherichia coli. The use of various types of diarrhea drugs is basically to prevent the proliferation of Escherichia coli bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract, such as the use of Kawista fruit pulp and seeds by local people as a cure for diarrhea. The purpose of this study was to test the inhibitory activity of methanol extract of Kawista fruit pulp and seeds (Limonia acidissima L. ) Dompu variant with 4 concentrations, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% extract concentrations. Testing antibacterial activity using the agar well diffusion method, which is done by measuring the inhibition zone around the wells. The methanol extract of Kawista fruit pulp and seeds (Limonia acidissima L. ) Dompu variant was significantly able to inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli at extract concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% with inhibition zone diameter respectively 14.5 mm, 20.5 mm, 25.25 mm and 26.75 mm. The 100% extract concentration is classified as the concentration with the highest effectiveness in inhibiting the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that the methanol extract of Kawista fruit pulp and seeds (Limonia acidissima L)

Abstract

Agile is one of the commonly adopted methodologies in software development to achieve continuous development and meet customer satisfaction. The popularity of Agile has led to some research on the challenges faced when implemented in software development. The current era of user satisfaction is one of the success factors in product development using Agile. In this study, further research is carried out regarding the challenges in using Agile Software Development (ASD) and mapping solutions by combining it with the User-Centered Design (UCD) method. This research is presented using a systematic literature review method by reviewing 61 literatures. The results found that the combination of these two methods solved challenges related to the process implementation (16%) and in terms of product (18%), especially scope and requirement. These results provide practitioners and academicians with an understanding of ASD challenges and recommendations to deal with the challenges by combining with the UCD method.

Abstract

In the last five years, lecturers and students at the Faculty of Medicine at the Islamic University of Bandung have produced hundreds of studies. Still, studies on the suitability of various studies with topics according to the institution's research roadmap have not been carried out. This research aimed to classify research documents based on 12 research roadmap topics. The data used in this study are the research titles of lecturers and students in 2015-2021, amounting to 1064 data. The document extraction process uses text mining, while the document grouping process is carried out using a supervised method with an artificial neural network algorithm. At the text mining stage, preprocessing procedures are carried out in case folding, tokenization, and filtering, followed by analysis through weighting using IDF and evaluating accuracy, precision, and recall. The Neural Network Algorithm can classify by level. The classification results using the neural network algorithm show that overall from the training data, the average precision is 74.7%, recall is 74.3%, and accuracy is 74.3%. Of the 12 research topics, the training dataset obtained high accuracy, precision, and recall values found on herbal medicine, Islamic insert, industrial health, tuberculosis, and vaccination. The four topics are in line with the five institution's leading research topics. The results of dataset testing analysis found that the research topics carried out by students and lecturers of Unisba School of Medicine were distributed among the 12 research topics on the institutional roadmap with the increased trends in institutional leading research topics.
