Sampling Usingsimple random sampling technique. large sample of 45students. The research hypothesis is brushing for 2 minutesmore effective than tooth brushing for 3 and 4 minutesto decline in debris score of elementary students scoreBaturan I, Gamping, Sleman, Yogyakarta. Results: Test ANOVA the effectiveness of tooth brushingfor 2, 3 and 4 minutes to the decline in debris scores significantdifference(p= 0.000) followed by Post Hoc TukeyHSD, brushing for 3 minutes the most effective/large decreasedebris elementary students score BaturanI,Gamping, Sleman, Yogyakarta(p=0.000).Conclusion: Brushing for 3 minutes is effective/at mostlarge debris lowers score of elementary students BaturanI, Gamping, Sleman, Yogyakarta (p=0.000)

Abstract

Background: The appropriate temporary fillings may becomean important factor to determines the success orfailure of dental care. Temporaryfillingmaterialscould beusefultoprevent theingress of liquids, microorganismsandotherimpuritiesintocavity. It could alsopreventedthe release ofdrugswhich are placedinthe pulpchamberandroot canalsystem. Compressive strength isan important trait in the fillings, especially in the process ofmastication. If the received load is bigger than the strengthof fillings then the fillings will be broken. The damaged orbroken fillings ahead of time can interfere with patientsand hamper the objectives to be achieved. Objective: To determine the effect long time soaking of thetemporary filling material Cavit and fletcher in artificial salivafor compressive strength. Methods: The experimental laboratories research withquota technique sampling, totaling 24 samples. The researchwas conducted from August to September 2013 inthe Faculty of Materials Laboratory Department of Mechanicaland Industrial Engineering Gajah Mada University. Thecylindrical samples (discs) with a height of 6 mm and adiameter of 4 mm is stored in an incubator at 37°C. Temporaryfilling materials of cavit and fletcher compressivestrength were measured by Universal Testing Machine toolafter soaking for 1 hour, 1 day, 3 days and 7 days in artificialsaliva. Results: Significance values of 0.001 and 0.027 (p < 0.05),so there is the effect long time soaking of the temporaryfilling material Cavit and fletcher in artificial saliva for compressivestrength. Conclusion: The longer soaking of the temporary fillingmaterial Cavit in artificial saliva compressive strength gettingbetter, the maximum compressive strength in soakingfor 3 days, after 3 days of compressive strength decreased. The longer soaking of the temporary filling material Fletcherin artificial saliva compressive strength decreased, themaximum compressive strength in soaking for 1 hour. The compressive strength of materials Cavit is better thanFletcher.

Abstract

Plaque is the main cause of damage teeth. For the user oforthodonthic, mild inflammatory caused by plaque will bemore severe because leftover food attached to braceseasier and difficult to clean. Chew pineapple and starfruitmake mechanical motion of the teeth because of thechewingnecessity longer to the fibrous food, more overthe adictic of pineapple and starfruit can help ini increasingsaliva. So that can reduce plaque and remove the leftoverfood between the teeth, so can avoid fromdemineralization. To determine the effect of chewing pineapplesand starfruits to care oforthodontic patient.Research done by using Quasi eksperiment study. Locationand implementation research taken at Alamanda DentalClinic Yogyakarta in June until September 2012 with thecare of orthodontic population of patient at Alamanda DentalClinic Yogyakarta. The samples used was 40, takenwith Quota Sampling technic. The variable of influenceswere chewing fruits, the variable of influences was plaquescore. Analysis of the data used was Paired Sample t-testwith significancy level = 0,05. Result of the study showedthe number of respondent distribution before chewing pineapplethere was 18 respondent with the percentage 90%had criteria of score medium plaque, 2 respondent withthe percentage 10% had criteria of score bad plaque. Afterconsumed pineapple, plaque score with good criteriaaccupied the highest position, viz.16 respondents with thepercentage 80% and the next was plaque score with mediumcriteria, viz. 4 respondents with the percentage 20%,In intervensi chewing the starfruits group, there was 18respondent with the percentage 10% had the criteria ofscore bad plaque. After consumed starfruits, plaque scorewith good criteria accupied the highest position, viz. 17respondents with the percentage 85% and the next wasplaque score with medium criteria, viz. 3 respondents withthe percentage 15%. From the statistical paired sample ttest, the result was p=0,000 (p value=0,05) it means therewas an effect for consumed pineapples and starfuits inplaque score to care of orthodontic patient. Conclusion isthere was effect for consumed pineapples and starfruitsin plaque score to care of orthodontic patient at AlamandaDental Clinic Yogyakarta with significant score from theresult of Paired sample t-test p=0,000 (p value<0,005).

The results of a preliminarystudy conducted in SMA N 1 Sewon Bantul obtained223 students had cases of malocclusion and 125 studentsexpressed a desire to straighten teeth. The researchpurpose to determine the relationship of malocclusion withorthodontic treatment motivation in class X SMA N 1 SewonBantul in 2013.The kind of this research is observational with cross sectionaldata retrieval. The population in this study were studentsof class X SMA N 1 Sewon Bantul many as 223students. Method of sampling Quota sampling by meansof a population of 30 respondents. Influence variable ofmalocclusion and orthodontic treatment motivation affectedvariables. The technique of collecting data by givingquestionnaires to students and conduct direct examinationirregularities form of malocclusion in students . Thelocation of this study taken in SMA N 1 Sewon Bantul. Statisticaltest using Chi Square test of correlation. The resultsof research conducted on student respondents XSMA N 1 Sewon Bantul obtained with highly motivated studentswith a form of malocclusion crowdeed, ectopiccaninus, disto-occlusion. Chi Square test results malocclusionorthodontic treatment motivation class X SMA N 1Sewon Bantul obtained significantly by 0.010 < á value of0.05, meaning that Ho is refused and Ha accepted. Sothere is a significant or meaningful relationship betweenmalocclusion with orthodontic treatment motivation. There is significant or meaningful relationship betweenmalocclusion with orthodontic treatment motivation in studentsX SMA N 1 Sewon Bantul.
