Abstract

This paper is geared toward analyzing the patterns and dynamics of the Boko Haram attacks and the challenges they caused to the country's security. The report uses the assumptions of the instrumental approach, which states that the purpose of terrorism is to bring about insecurity in an actor's environment. The pattern of terrorism follows an action-reaction process. Thereby it responds to what Government does. It also utilizes the data collected from secondary sources and qualitatively analyses it. The paper discovered that Boko Haram, a proscribed international terrorist organization, is continuously posing serious security challenges to Nigeria that have resulted in the loss of over 30.000 lives and the destruction of public and private properties worth billions of US dollars. The group has committed itself to asymmetric warfare. Since its re-emergence, it had tried to mimic and adopt the tactics and strategies of global Salafist movements, which manifested in armed assaults, bombings, and abductions. The paper recommended that a comprehensive approach be adopted that would take care of both kinetic and non-kinetic measures to end the menace of terrorism in Nigeria. Training and retraining of security personnel on asymmetric warfare are required to balance the increasing adaptability of the terrorists.

Abstract

Objectively, the purpose of this study is to produce a concept of accountability that is free from domination, which can synergize the accountability of the executive, legislative, and community and is oriented towards the liberation of communication. The expected result of this research is to be able to contribute, both theoretically and practically. The ideas from this research can be used as a reference for other researchers to test empirically with different approaches. Virtually, this research provides an idea for the opening of space for the public to be actively involved in all stages of the public accountability process to give input or criticism in the context of policy-making. To explore social reality as empirical material, the collaboration of several methods in this research was carried out as follows: Observation and interviews. Furthermore, based on the collected data, it will be netted and grouped based on specific categories and codes. Based on the previous description, this study produces a concept of accountability which the author calls triple accountability. Practically in the author's view, this concept is quite effectively implemented. This view adopts Habermas's communicative action theory that communication based rationality effectively overcomes social problems in human life, including government order.

This study uses secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and other related sources. Data were analyzed using the multiple linear regression model using SPSS 25 Application. The results of this study indicate that: (1) Unemployment has a positive and insignificant effect on the level of poverty; (2) Partially, the HDI and GDP have a negative and insignificant effect on the level of poverty; (3) Simultaneously Unemployment, HDI and GDP have a significant effect on the level of poverty. The results of this study indicate that in order to significantly reduce the Poverty Level in East Luwu, the three independent variables must be the attention of the East Luwu Government in making development policies. Increase the HDI mainly in terms of education and health to provide more competitive human resources, pursue high GDP growth level, and be more qualified and inclusive to reduce poverty levels in East Luwu.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between perceived emotional intelligence and late adolescent autonomy in Makassar City. This study uses quantitative methods with a correlational research design. The Trait Meta-Mood Scale-30 (TMMS-30) and adolescent autonomy scale were given to the research sample selected by purposive sampling method, totaling 453 respondents of adolescent aged 18-21 years; data college use online survey. The object of study is located in Makassar City and identifying themselves Bugis ethnicity. The demonstration and data analysis results using the Bivariate Pearson correlation test showed a positive (unidirectional) relationship between perceived emotional intelligence and late adolescent autonomy. However, the relationship between these variables was moderate (R-calculated = 0.417; with Sig. level < 0.01). The demonstration of the correlation of these variables means that the higher the level of perceived emotional intelligence possessed by adolescents is in line with the level of autonomy of adolescents. However, our study also underlines that the ability of perceived emotional intelligence in predicting the autonomy factor of adolescents is in the moderate category. It is assumed that the control of the perceived emotional intelligence variable is not strong enough to justify its role in the autonomy of late adolescents in this study.
