Abstract

Purpose: can provide an overview of the blood profile of the duration of fever in dengue hemorrhagic fever. Methodology: The method used is a literature study from various national and international journals. This method is used with the aim of summarizing a current topic in order to increase an understanding. Results: In DHF patients, thrombocytopenia occurs, generally thrombocytopenia on the 3rd to 8th day, there is a decrease in platelets below 100,000, an increase in hematocrit > 20% of the initial hematocrit, generally starting on the 3rd day of fever. IgM appears earlier since the onset of fever, which is around day 3, while IgG can appear more than 7 days from the onset of fever. As for secondary infections, IgG can appear earlier, around the 1st day of fever, which can be followed by the appearance of IgM. Limitations: This article is only a review of several other articles, not doing research directly. Contribution: With proper examination, it is hoped that cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever can be managed quickly.

Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the role of various active compounds in rhizome of ginger as an immunomodulator so that rhizome of ginger can be used to prevent and treat COVID-19. Currently, there are no specific therapies such as antiviral drugs that are relevant to treat COVID-19. However, herbal treatment is one of the efforts in handling this pandemic. Methodology: The method used is a literature review with the inclusion criteria of international scientific journals in the last ten years (2012-2021) which is accessed through trusted sites. Result: The results obtained are experimentally and clinically, ginger (Zingiber officinale rhizome) has shown various therapeutic activities, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and immunomodulatory so it provides direct antiviral effects. Limitations: There is no precise identification of SARS-CoV-2 infection in the host organ and evaluation of the impact of ginger on virus-infected tissues. Contribution: Because of ginger can be used as a potential therapeutic ingredient, this study will contribute to preventing and treating COVID-19.

Abstract

Purpose: This review aims to examine the current knowledge regarding to the molecular mechanisms by several nutraceuticals, such as retinoids, resveratrol, epigallocatechin 3 gallate, and omega-3 PUFAs to against cancer. Bioactive compounds with high contents in nutraceuticals are considered as complementary components in foods, dietary supplements, and medicines. These compounds can also inhibit carcinogenesis, protect body cells from inflammatory and oxidative processes, and induce anti-proliferative effects in various types of neoplasia. Research Methodology: The method used is a literature review. The literature search was conducted through Pubmed using keywords in the 2012-2021 timeframe. Result: The results obtained are that bioactive compounds from nutraceuticals, such as RSV, retinoids, EGCG, and omega-3 PUFAs, have the ability to influence the growth and development of cancer cells, therefore, nutraceuticals can work as innovative anticancer agents. Limitations: By this method, a thorough literature search may miss important studies that influence conclusions. Contribution: This research can be applied by all of cancer patients because nutraceutical ingredients are easily available throughout the world, including Indonesia.
