Abstract

In the past few decades, Building Information Modeling (BIM) has been widely used worldwide in industry of architecture, engineering dan construction (AEC). This scope is started from construction material manufacturing to construction project. So, this industry, which is one of the most complex industries, requires improvements in time and cost efficiency.. The purpose of this paper is to provide best practice of using BIM in buildings and infrastructure. The research method used in this research is project based evaluation. Project based evaluation is carried out on construction projects, namely building structures which include bored piles, pile cap, plates, shear walls, columns, and beams. The second project based evaluation is the bridge which focuses on structural work in single and double pillars. The results of research on building structures used as project based evaluations show that the difference in volume for each element ranges from 0.03% to 1.13%. with the total difference between conventional recalculation and modeling is around 0.358%. While the modeling in the second project based evaluation showed a volume difference of 12,965.66 kg for single pillar structures and 48,233.51 kg for double pillars. While the conventional method produces a larger estimated volume of 13,482.72 kg for single pillar structures and 49,827.70 kg for double pillars

Abstract

All aspects of life cannot escape the development of the times with the last phenomenon being the influence of the development of the digital world which is called the process of "digitalization". Architecture as one aspect of life certainly does not escape undergoing this digitilization process. Aim this paper discusses the process of digitalizing architecture using a philosophical point of view. The research was conducted using Desk research, from data and existing literature. The data is then filtered according to its interrelationships, validity and adjusted to its needs. Then a predictive analysis was carried out to get a (hypothetical) conception of digital architecture digital architecture in IKN Nusantara. The results of this discussion are understanding of the application of the digital ontological paradigm into the architectural process carried out at IKN Nusantara as a study case and in the context of the creative economy, which is the future of the Indonesian Economy,  is very appropriate to develop a Neo-vernacular Digital Architecture in Indonesia which is hereinafter referred to as Neo-Nusantara Architecture.

Abstract

The term Metaverse has become viral since Mark Zuckerberg introduced it when the company name changed from Facebook to Meta. The illustration video made to explain to the public has succeeded in shaping the image of Metaverse as the development of Virtual Reality technology. Although other companies have different definitions of Metaverse with Augmented Reality technology at its core, Mixed Reality technology is predicted to unite both technologies. The contents in the Metaverse also need to be prepared to fill the virtual world when the ecosystem is successfully formed. Architectural creations as one of the contents have the opportunity to be created and traded as NFT in the metaverse. This paper explores the business and technical aspects that need to be done in the development of architectural creations in the metaverse.

Abstract

At first, Structuralism developed rapidly in France, but structuralism was not yet known in Indonesia; even in the early 1990s, Lévi-Strauss' structuralism did not resonate with Indonesian socio-cultural scientists. In 1966 the publication of the book The Architecture of the City, authored by Aldo Rossi, provided input on architectural and urban research based on structuralism; This book teaches Typomorphology. The purpose of this study is to provide an explanation of how structuralism is used as an approach method in town planning research. There are two research methods used, the first is a literature review method to gain an understanding of structuralism and the use of structuralism in the field in the context of town planning, namely the typomorphology approach. After this understanding, followed by the second research method, namely the case study method, which is to explain the use of the structuralism method in case studies in Semarang City. The research provides an understanding of structuralism, and an understanding of the use of structuralism in the scope of architecture, particularly in town planning research. In the current era of digital architecture, the results of this study provide an overview of the important role of structuralism in contributing to the facts of all aspects that make up the city; and this is the basis for research on urban development using digital architectural technology.

Abstract

The buildings design in the tropics climate, shading on the walls is needed to prevent the entry of sunlight into the building. Shading is needed by determining the length of the sun shading and the placement of the height of the window, according to the orientation of the designed building. The purpose of this research is to determine the design of the building against the effort to block the entry of sunlight into the building with the simulation of Amethyst Shadow-FX software. The research method used is Ex Post Facto, where the independent variables are given treatment, namely variations in the shape and size of the wall opening and the orientation of the building. The results of this study are guidelines for designing building facades in the tropics and orientations that can produce thermal comfort in buildings because temperature increases can be avoided.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has an impact on the ease of processing mass forms and the appearance of buildings in architecture. This significantly influenced tectonics as an important part of architecture. Tectonics is like finding a new window of view from the same existence. This situation demands an explanation of the position and role of tectonics in contemporary architectural works. This explanation is very important to rediscover the nature of tectonics as an art of construction in the new face of digital technology. This paper will examine the classical tectonic discourse that has developed from the core form and art form to the understanding of ontology and representation which is the beginning of the discussion of digital tectonics. Through a study of several relevant cases, it can be found that epistemologically, digital tectonic still has the same nature as classical tectonic. The difference lies in the richness of the quality and richness of the truth representation which implicitly gives birth to hidden truth conditions in digital tectonic representations. The existence of this hidden truth poses a challenge for digital tectonics to survive as the art of construction.
