Abstract

Kawa Daun drink is a beverage made from dried coffee leaves and is a typical drink of West Sumatra. A survey of the process of making kawa leaf drink has been carried out by visiting the places where the manufacture of kawa leaves is spread in three regencies in West Sumatra, namely Tanah Datar District, Agam District, and Lima Puluh Kota District. This study aims to obtain information on the process of making existing and developed Kaawa Daun drinks in West Sumatra. Data were obtained by interviewing techniques, direct observation, and assisted with a list of questions. From the results of observations on the process of making existing Kaawa leaves and developing in West Sumatra it is known that there are three processes of making kahwa drinks or extraction processes namely 1) cooking (water and coffee leaves are cooked simultaneously until boiling) 2) brewing (brewed coffee leaves with hot water 80-90oC), and 3) dissolution (water is boiled until then the coffee leaves are inserted and allowed to boil for 3-5 minutes).

Abstract

Banyan (Ficus Benjamina l.) Is a type of tree that is found in Indonesia. Banyan tree grows with hanging roots that grow bigger and bigger. This paper identifies the air content around the banyan tree (Ficus Benjamina l.). The results of observations show that there are several compounds contained in the banyan tree. In the midst of the public circulated rumors that say that many mystical things that make the banyan tree often sacred and feared. One of the rumors circulating is not being able to sleep under a banyan tree because it could die. The conclusion of this observation is that the public's knowledge is correct, that the prohibition of sleep under the Banyan tree can cause fatal consequences, namely death. It's just that people consider it related to mystical things associated with the existence of supernatural beings. Apparently the assumption was wrong after being studied scientifically. These observations reveal that the banyan tree's hanging roots produce CO2 gas which is toxic to the human body. If the CO2 gas is inhaled by humans and then mixed with the bloodstream, the blood hemoglobin can bind more strongly with CO2 and is toxic. Blood flow will flow to the brain and interfere with the work of the brain, so the fatal result that can occur is death.

Abstract

Learning media, namely acting as a mediator of information between the source (teacher) and the recipient (student), is one of the resources that can assist teachers in offering simpler and more effective learning materials (student). The goal of this study is to identify and evaluate the media that teachers in SMPN 30 Padang and the SMP Development Laboratory at Padang State University use to engage students in the science learning process. Analyzing the information from the learning material employed was another goal of this study. This form of research, which aims to examine the needs of learning media, is qualitative descriptive research. Science instructors from SMPN 30 Padang and SMP Pembangunan Laboratorium in Padang City served as the study's participants. Based on the research data, it is known that there are differences in the use of instructional media between the two schools, where in SMPN 30 Padang the use of instructional media is better than SMP Pembangunan Laboratorium.
