Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of Polya’s UC3 model in improving the problem-solving skills and attitude and perception towards problem-solving of grade 2 students. Quantitative data were gathered through a two-group pre-posttest quasi-experimental design, and qualitative data were gathered through focused group discussion from 54 grade two students through convenient sampling. The Paired T-test and T-test for independent samples results revealed that UC3 model has increased students’ problem-solving skills to Satisfactory level with a significant pair difference and mean gain as compared to conventional method. It has also increased students’ attitude and perception with a significant mean gain in growth mindset and interest. Based on the findings, it is concluded that the utilization of the UC3 Model in teaching problem solving is effective in improving students’ skills and attitude and perception towards problem solving of grade 2 students. It further recommends for provision of programs and workshops by administrations, integration of UC3 in classroom instruction by the teachers, and further validation of findings by other researchers.

This study aims to determine and analyze the effect of implementing talent management which consists of workforce preparation, workforce development and workforce management on employee performance through employee engagement. Talent management is one of the important issues that has become a topic of conversation in the world of human resource management. This is a logical consequence of the limited availability of talent, while the need for them continues to increase. One of the signs of this era is increasingly fierce business competition, including the necessity for local companies to compete with companies from regional and even global environments. Every company wants to dominate business and market competition. In realizing this there are three assets that must be owned by a company, namely financial capital, products and labor, but among the three most important assets is the workforce they have. Abstract

The construction sector has a higher ratio of mass exploitation of earth reserves compared to other development sectors over time, degrading eco-components. In Anambra State, there is a high level of eco-degradation practices due to the building of commercial structures, ranging from unhealthy work plans to the inability of designers to incorporate green-culture initiatives in their designs. The objective of this study is to comprehensively evaluate the construction and operational practices of some of the functional commercial buildings in the state and ascertain the impacts of not taking sustainability considerations into account during construction. A qualitative and quantitative method of data collection was implied in the study, and the resultant findings exposed some prevalent sustainability anomalies in construction, thus igniting the need for effective and adaptive sustainable policies that would guide practices in the construction industry.
