Abstract

The increasing intensity of air pollution in the DKI Jakarta area has become an urgent environmental issue, with significant impacts on public health and the sustainability of urban ecosystems. This study aims to integrate remote sensing technology and the principles of Maqashid Syariah in monitoring and analyzing air quality, in order to present an approach that is not only technical but also ethical and spiritual in environmental management. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method through a case study design, utilizing spatial data from Sentinel-5P satellite imagery to map the distribution of pollutants such as NO₂ and SO₂, while examining this data through the lens of the five main principles of Maqashid Syariah (hifz al-din, hifz al-nafs, hifz al-‘aql, hifz al-nasl, and hifz al-mal). The findings indicate that the areas with the highest levels of pollution overlap with violations of the core objectives of Islamic law, particularly the protection of life and intellect. This study emphasizes the urgency of integrating science and Islamic values as a conceptual and practical foundation for developing public policies that are ecologically just and spiritually grounded.

Abstract

The increasing demand for sustainable energy drives innovations in environmentally friendly renewable energy technologies, one of which is the Plant Microbial Fuel Cell (PMFC), which utilizes the biochemical activity of plants to generate electricity. This study examines the potential of PMFC as an eco-friendly energy solution and its relevance to Islami teachings on environmental conservation and the sustainable use of natural resources. Experimental results show that the PMFC with Aluminium-Copper (Al-Cu) electrodes generates a maximum current of 0,396 mA and a voltage of 0,393 V, while the Aluminium-Zinc (Al-Zn) combination only produces 0,255 mA and 0,222 V. Additionally, wet soil conditions enhance the power output to 0,051 mW. This study demonstrates that PMFC can convert the chemical energy in plants into electricity without harmful emissions, aligning with Islamic principles that emphasize sustainability and the prevention of environmental damage.

Abstract

This study develops an optimal bonus–malus premium model within a Bayesian decision-theoretic framework. Claim frequency is modeled using a Poisson distribution, while the number of claims exceeding a predefined critical threshold is modeled conditionally using a Binomial distribution. The Poisson intensity parameter is assigned an Exponential prior distribution, while the Binomial probability parameter follows a Beta prior distribution. The Exponential and Beta distributions are applied to model parameters rather than to observed data, ensuring probabilistic consistency. Since the Exponential distribution is a special case of the Gamma distribution, the Bayesian updating process remains mathematically coherent. To illustrate the model, a dataset of 1,000 simulated motor vehicle policyholders is generated in R under specified distributional assumptions. The results indicate that premiums increase with the number of claims exceeding the critical value and decrease with longer claim-free duration. The proposed framework provides a coherent and flexible approach for premium determination in bonus–malus systems. However, the findings are based on simulated data and specific modeling assumptions, which may limit direct empirical generalization.
