Abstract

The lack of ability of the students of SMA Dharma Bakti Lubuk Pakam in mastering computers, especially the programming field, is a significant challenge in preparing them for the digital era. In the industrial era 4.0, mastering programming skills is essential, especially the Python programming language which is widely used in data analysis, artificial intelligence, and application development. To overcome this problem, Mikroskil University organized an introduction to Python programming training through Community Service activities. The training covered both theory and hands-on practice to build a better understanding. To measure the success of the training, the pre-test and post-test were conducted as well as a quiz-based evaluation. The training results showed a significant increase in students' understanding level of 85.42%. The results of the evaluation of the level of mastery of the training material showed that 26.67% of students mastered the material well, and 16.66% of students moderately mastered the material. However, 56.67% of the students still lacked mastery of the material due to the limited duration of the training and limited experience in programming. Overall, this training succeeded in improving digital literacy for students while supporting technological transformation in the school environment. To improve the effectiveness of the training, a longer training duration and more interactive learning methods are recommended. It is also recommended that similar training be extended to other schools to improve the programming skills of the younger generation and their readiness to face the challenges of the digital industry.

Abstract

Education orients on the process of transferring and acquiring knowledge and skills from learning activities. With the use of Virtual Reality (VR) in education, it can help students to experiment with the learned concepts and assess their implications within the virtual environment. The idea and implementation of VR in education are crucial since they enhance the student’s learning experience and process to understand various concepts and implement them to solve problems. Therefore, this socialization aims to provide deeper insights to the students of SMA Chandra Kumala Medan on how VR can help them improve their learning experience and performance. At this event, the socialization is conducted by following three sessions: (1) material presentation, (2) questions and answers session, and (3) VR demonstration where the students can take part. The results show that the students are highly engaged in all three sessions. It is found in the questions asked by the students, from how to create a virtual environment to the roles and impact of VR in real life (e.g., business). These findings indicate that the students are interested in how VR can improve their learning experience by understanding and testing new ideas or concepts within the virtual environment.

Abstract

Waste that is not managed properly has a negative impact on the environment, including in the school environment. In Gonilan Village, there are already several waste banks, but there is no waste bank in schools. This community service aims to provide teachers with a guidebook for managing waste banks in schools so that they can give examples to students. The method used is providing material in the form of a guidebook containing the definition, purpose, benefits of waste banks, types of waste, 3R principles, waste bank system mechanisms, and waste management flows. Educational activities at SDN Gonilan 2 went well, marked by positive responses from all participating teachers. The guidebook was appropriate, easy to understand, and suitable for use. This success was supported by the active participation of teachers, the suitability of the material, and the book's feasibility test process. However, there are challenges such as the need for broader follow-up information on waste management, a comprehensive deepening of the management cycle, and the provision of more interesting examples and illustrations to motivate readers. Based on the evaluation using a questionnaire, it can be concluded that the waste bank management guidebook was considered effective as an educational medium by SDN Gonilan 2 teachers in improving waste management in schools. This is demonstrated by the teacher's positive responses to the appropriateness of the content, ease of understanding, suitability of use, and potential for increasing motivation offered by the guidebook.

Abstract

This Microsoft Word optimization training aims to enhance the skills of teachers at Sekolah Dasar Negeri 2 Pampangan in utilizing information technology to support administrative tasks and learning. The activity was conducted offline in two main sessions: material delivery and practical simulations. The training material covered both basic and advanced features, such as mail merge, page layout, and document collaboration. A total of 30 participants attended the training and received direct guidance. Evaluation through questionnaires and observations showed that over 94% of participants understood and were able to apply the material effectively. This training proved to be effective in improving teachers' work efficiency and the quality of documents produced, as well as having a significant impact on increased productivity and professionalism in carrying out administrative tasks. Furthermore, the training strengthened teachers' digital literacy, accelerated technology adoption in learning, and supported their role as drivers of education in the digital era. However, limitations in equipment and basic computer skills remain challenges to be addressed in the future. This training provides an important contribution to strengthening teachers' digital literacy and improving the quality of education in elementary schools.

Abstract

Global warming has become a crucial issue that requires concrete action from all layers of society. One effort that can be made is greening through planting fruit trees that not only absorb carbon dioxide but also provide economic benefits. This community service activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of the people of Negeri Uren, Leihitu District, Central Maluku Regency in grafting techniques as a method of vegetative propagation of fruit plants. Implementation of activities includes counseling about global warming and the importance of greening, training in grafting techniques, mentoring and monitoring, as well as strengthening entrepreneurial capacity. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in the knowledge and skills of participants, with more than 90% of participants able to understand the concept and 80% able to practice grafting techniques correctly. This activity also produced 25 grafted plants and increased community understanding about grafted plant nurseries. Factors driving the success of the program include support from local government, enthusiasm of participants, potential natural resources, availability of materials and tools, as well as collaboration of the service team. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors include time limitations, variations in participants' understanding levels, limitations of plant types for practice, language barriers, and unpredictable weather. For program sustainability, continuous assistance, advanced training, diversification of plant types, development of marketing networks, and integration with government programs are needed.

Abstract

Innovations in forage processing technology, especially through the manufacture of silage, are a strategic solution to improve the quality of animal feed in rural communities, including Muhammadiyah farmer groups in Karanganyar Regency. This study aims to analyze the application of silage technology as an alternative to feed forage processing among sheep and cattle farmers in Kedungjeruk Village, Karanganyar. By adopting forage processing technology into silage, it is hoped that it can increase the resilience of animal feed, reduce dependence on commercial feed, and increase livestock productivity in a sustainable manner. The methods used in this study involve training for farmers, the implementation of silage production, and the evaluation of the impact on the success of animal feed and the economy of farmers. The results of the study show that the application of silage technology is able to reduce the waste of forage forage, extend the shelf life of feed, and improving the quality of feed for livestock. Overall, this innovation has succeeded in making a positive contribution to increasing the independence of animal feed and farmers' income in the area, while supporting the development of a circular economy based on agriculture and livestock

Abstract

Disparities in higher education access for underprivileged families in Indonesia perpetuate intergenerational poverty cycles. In response, the Surabaya City Government launched the program “Satu Keluarga Satu Sarjana” through full funding and accommodation at the Bibit Unggul Dormitory. Observations by the community service team and focus group discussions (FGDs) with the Surabaya Social Agency revealed that academic competence alone, without strengthening effective communication skills, risks hindering the competitiveness of students from underprivileged backgrounds. Using a Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) approach, the team designed a public speaking training intervention integrating visual learning techniques and gamification. The methodology included: (1) anxiety-level surveys, (2) workshops on public speaking techniques and visual-based presentation strategies, (3) practical simulations, (4) gamified role-playing scenarios, and (5) collaborative feedback sessions. Active participation of students ensured contextual relevance. Evaluation results demonstrated significant improvement in self-confidence (pre-test-post-test) and the ability to articulate ideas. This community service initiative not only addresses psychological barriers but also establishes a sustainable soft skills development model for marginalized communities, while aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in reducing educational inequality.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to strengthen integrated agricultural community business through synergy between academics, business actors, and farmers. The program was implemented by the Agribusiness Management Study Program team of Payakumbuh State Agricultural Polytechnic in collaboration with Solok Radjo Cooperative and LemBoo Farm in Solok and Limapuluh Kota Regencies, West Sumatra. Implementation methods include discussion and action plan formulation as well as integrated agricultural activity demonstrations. Main activities encompass silage production from corn straw as alternative livestock feed, organic fertilizer production from cattle manure waste, and community business management socialization for integrated farming system development. Results demonstrate the creation of collective innovation integrating technical, social, and environmental aspects. Solok Radjo Cooperative successfully increased Arabica coffee added value through processing to green beans and obtained international certification and awards. Agricultural waste utilization into economically valuable products enhanced farming efficiency and sustainability. University tri-dharma synergy with communities strengthened knowledge transfer through student field studies and internships. This program proves that collective approaches can improve competitiveness, farmer welfare, and environmental sustainability in community-based agribusiness systems.

Abstract

Ideal pregnancy spacing has a major impact not only on maternal and infant health, but also on the overall well-being of the family. Unplanned pregnancy spacing also has an impact on the mother's mental health, family economic limitations, and the quality of care that can be given to previous children. Therefore, appropriate pregnancy spacing is an important component in efforts to improve public health. However, the prevalence of long-term contraceptive methods (LMPs) in Indonesia is still low due to lack of knowledge and myths. Therefore, this community service aims to improve family health through education and implementation of LMPs as a pregnancy spacing strategy. Community service activities are carried out using the Counseling method in the Bara-Baraya Health Center work area. The stages of the activity include the preparation, implementation and evaluation stages. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in the level of knowledge of women of childbearing age regarding LMPs, participants understood the material that had been presented. Supporting factors for success include the active involvement of health workers and positive community acceptance of community-based education. The conclusion of the comprehensive LMP education and implementation activities can improve the understanding and use of LMPs in the community. It is recommended that similar programs be integrated into local health policies by expanding access to MKJP services and reducing existing cultural barriers.

Abstract

This community service activity is aimed at teachers and parents of students at Demak Ijo Elementary School, Yogyakarta. The purpose of this activity is to increase the understanding of Demak Ijo Elementary School teachers about multimodal learning and how to implement it in the classroom. In addition, teachers were also introduced to the blended learning method and they were also trained to design digital teaching materials with the LUMI Education application. Apart from focusing on teachers, this community sevice activity also aims to hold a webinar for parents of Demak Ijo Elementary School students so that they can apply the right strategies in accompanying their children both during synchronous and asynchronous learning. The results of this activity show that teachers are able to design digital materials with LUMI Education as the platform. In addition, on the parents' side, they get the opportunity to dialogue and ask directly to the presenters related to what strategies parents can do to be able to assist students optimally.
