Abstract

Excessive fertilization and pesticides will lead to soil and water receives more weight than chemical content,which resulted in pollution of the environment in which the growth of plants. This study aims to determine the nitrate content in the roots , stems and leaves of cabbage and nitrate in agricultural land in the village Plumbon, Tawangmangu Karanganyar. This study is a descriptive survey , which determines the content of nitrates in vegetables cabbage. This study was performed on March until September 2013. From research to know that the concentration of nitrate (NO 3-) at a depth of 0 cm -20 cm ranged between 10.98 ppm - 70.32 ppm, the accumulation of nitrate (NO 3-) at a depth of 20 cm - 40 cm ranged between 20.21 ppm - 240 ppm , the accumulation of nitrate (NO 3-) at a depth of 40 cm - 60 cm ranged between 20.53 ppm - 180 ppm. Accumulation of nitrate (NO 3-) at this depth is affected by the process of leaching and leaching of nitrate in the soil layer above it. Accumulation of nitrate in cabbage leaves are below the limits Decision No. 1168 / Men / Per / 1999 on food consumption , but the roots are already exceed the quality standards set.. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of arrangements between fermentation time and using NaOCl when washing the tomato seeds to improving the physical quality of the seed without decreasing seed viability. The experiment was conducted in May 2011 at the Laboratory of Seed Technology, Vegetable Crops Research Institute, Lembang. Research using tomato strain 6046 CLN physiologically ripe. Each treatment consisted of 25 grains of seed and repeated 4 times. The experiments were performed using analysis of completely randomized design (RAL). The results showed that the longer the time needed for fermentation, the pulp will be more easily separated from the seed. Washing using bayclin solution can improve the physical properties of tomato seed so that the color becomes brighter without causing a decrease in viability and vigor. Abstract

The purposes of this research are to know the value added of households scale tempe chips industries, to know the risks of tempe chips business in the Lerep Village and to know the feasibility analysis of households scale tempe chips industries. The research area sampling method is purposive in the Lerep Village West Ungaran District Semarang Regency, that is one of home industries centre of tempe chips. The analysis methods used in this research use value added analysis of Hayami’s method (1987), analysis of business risks and the analysis of feasibility using BEP and R/Cratio. Based on the research results, the amount of value added from tempe chips industries is Rp 38,452.99/kg with a ratio of 82.34 percent. Margin obtained is Rp 40,728.24 which distributed to each of the factors (labor income 12.22 percent, contribution of other input 5.59 percent and industry profits 82.19 percent). Industries of tempe chips has the variation coefficient value (CV) more than 0.5 that is equal to 2.92 and lower limit value gains (L) is Rp 158,012.18, so that industry of tempe chips business risk with the possibility of loss is Rp 158,012.18. The total cost of the production process tempe chips Rp 347,006.09 and the production volume value BEP 0.067 kg tempe chips and BEP value revenue Rp 1,827.9. While the R/C ratio value is 1.54 so that, the tempe chips industries business is feasible because the R/Cratio value is more than 1 (one). The suggestion to businessman is hoped to develop their business by increasing the number of output products of tempe chips and to the government can give more attentionin the form of management training and others.   Key word: value added, tempe chips industries, business risk, feasibility analysis

Abstract

The rapid population growth in rural areas led to increasing competition in obtaining employment. While on one hand meet the life needs in general and families in particular is increasing. This situation encourages women to entry for work as a rubber tapper in PTPN IX Balong Garden Beji Kalitelo. In this conditions women's tasks become increasingly a heavy that women have a three fold responsibility, in addition to acting as a housewife and social also act as a earner families. Study aims: 1) to know the allocation of time devoted women as breadwinners, take a rest, housewives and socially; 2) to know the factors that affect women's earnings rubber plantation workers; 3) to know how much the contribution of women rubber plantation workers of family income. Totally there are 80 samples of 565 population. The method which is used in this research is descriptive analysis method and an encode for processing use regression bifilar method. The results showed that the allocation of time to a living searching is the biggest allocation that is 9 hours a day with a percentage of 37,5 percent compared to other activities. Based on regression analysis revealed that work period factors, the results of rubber tapping and years of planting, significantly affect women's rubber tappers labor income. And an average contribution of women workers of the rubber tapper to the family income is 54,25 percent. Keywords: Contribution, family income, women workers.

Abstract

Tetrazolium test is a test of dehydrogenase enzyme activity in seed tissue, so that the tissue is known to live or die in the embryo. The basic principle of this test is used chemical reduction of tetrazolium chloride 3,3,5 Triphenil initially colorless be red tissue. Staining intensity indicates the viability of the tissue. Tissue on seed dies, certainly not able to germinate seeds or germinated abnormally. This experiment using corn seed (monocots) and soybean seed (dicots). Testing seed viability quickand topography using tetrazolium salt solution and to control seed viability testing with germinated in germination plate. Both of these tests using a t-test. The results of the study are: corn seed viability testing quick by using the tetrazolium test can be conducted show significantly different results with the results of direct germination test (control), environmental factors on the test field with sand media should be controlled so that the optimum for germination, and seed are still viable indicated by a color change in the embryo and endosperm become red. . Abstract

The research objective was to determine why farmers cultivate delima water apple and analyze the costs, revenues, income, level of feasibility in terms of break even point (BEP) and return cost ratio (R/C ratio) on the farm delima water apple in Demak Regency. The methodology used is a case study in the Betokan Village, Demak District, Demak Regency in 2012. Recruitment of respondents was all farmers delima water apple, with has trees over 3 years of age. In this study of 26 respondents Betokan Villages. The data used are primary data and secondary data. The data was collected by interview, observation, quesioner, recording, and literature review. The results showed that the analysis of the total cost value of the land tax is Rp.1.921.206,00/season and land rent of cost Rp.2.796.254,00/season. While revenue is Rp.8.766.015,00/season. Revenue using the cost analysis of land value tax is Rp.6.844.809,00/season, and the use of land rental value of Rp.5.969.761,00/season. BEP value of production quantity is equal to 154,71 Kg/season. While BEP rupiah is Rp.1.261.206,64/season. The R/C ratio in the delima water apple farming the land tax value of the analysis is as large as 4,56, while the R/C ratio using land rental value is as large as 3,13. Results of the analysis using the above qualifications break even point (BEP) and return cost ratio (R/C ratio). Keywords: Cost, delima water apple, feasibility analysis, income, revenue.

Abstract

Capsaicin – the major active principle in chillies is an alkaloid, which cause the ‘hot’ sensation when contact with the skin and muscous membrane. At least twenty varieties of consumable chillies known in Indonesia, and each of them has different degree of ‘hotness’. This degree of ‘hotness’ was though due to capsaicin content in chillies. The study was carried out to chemically quantitate the capsaicin content of sixteen varieties of Indonesian chillies. Capsaicin was extracted from the dried chillies powder. The organic extract was analyzed by Thin layer Chromatography with silica gel F 254 as supportive medium and diethyl either as mobile phase. The determination of capsaicin was conducted spectrophotometrically with Gibb’s reagent as color developer. The capsaicin content of the examined chillies varieties ranged from 0,07 – 1,60 %, with the highest content was found in Rawit Kalimantan. The organoleptic between the capsaicin content of chillies send the Scoville Heat Units.   Key words : capsaicin, capsicum, organoleptic

Abstract

This research aims to determine the production cost, revenue and income  of cassava farm, as well as the factors that influence cassava farm income in Mojo Village, Cluwak District, Pati Regency. Cassava farm income is obtained from the difference between total revenue (TR) and total cost (TC), the average number of explicit cost is Rp.7,824,782 per growing season, and the average number of cassava farm receipts is Rp.16,858,800 per growing season. Based on the calculation, it is known that average income of cassava farm is Rp.9,034,018, per growing season. According to data analysis using multiple linear regression, it is known that the coefficient of determination (R2) 0.918 stated that the ability of the model established by the independent variables in explaining the variability of the dependent variable is 91.8 percent, while the remaining 8.2 percent is explained by other variables. F test showed the value of F calculated probability value of 79.492 with asignificance of 0.000. T test showed variable cost of fertilizer, the amount of production, selling price and ownership has a significant probability value of 0.000, the variable of labor costs (outside the family) has a significance value of 0.085. Experience variable and pesticides cost have no influence effect on cassava farming income. Keywords: Cassava, income analysis, multiple linear regressions.
