Abstract

Indonesia is one of the most populous country in this world with total population is about 273.87 million at the end of 2021. among that total popilation, there are still 26.50 million is in below poverty line. As a country with Muslim majority population, Indonesia has one of the potentials that can be optimised to reduce poverty, namely zakat. However, the magnitude of the potential for zakat in realization is still has many obstacles that leads to lower relatization of zakat compared to huge potency of the zakat. Therefore, the main function of zakat to alleviate poverty level cannot be optimised. This study aims to propose the solutions to increase the transparancy and accountability for zakat management organization (OPZ) using an Islamic institutional perspective. Theapproach used in this research is a qualitative research through systematic literature review. The results show that transparency and accountability can be improved by implementing the basic axioms of islamic business ethics, namely balance/fairness in implementing zakat collection activities.

Indonesia’ level of financial inclusion and literacy index in the Islamic capital market is quite slow for around 0,022% and 0,01% eventhough Indonesia is a country with largest Muslim majority (85% o population). Furthermore, the fact shows that Indonesia is the country with the 4th highest grwoth in the capital market industry in Asia-Pacific throughout 2017. The potential for growth and development of Islamic capital market in Indonesia is very high, but not followed by the growth rate of financial literacy and inclusion index especially in the capital market sector. The aim of this paper is to identify a new strategic approach that is applicable to increase Islamic financial literacy and inclusiveness in terms of Islamic capital market. This study uses a qualitative method with literature from journal articles, government reports, news, and others in reviewing, identifying, and knowing the strategies o be implemented. The result shows that there were six specific strategies used in increasing the literacy index and inclusion index of Islamic capital market, namely, rebranding negative investment stereotypes, building sustainable promotions and campaigns through offline and online platforms, creating an integrated online market for capital market product.

Abstract

This paper discusses policies carried out by the Indonesian government regarding to the merger of state-owned Islamic banks, namely BRI Syariah, BNI Syariah, and Bank Syariah Mandiri which were merged to form Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI). The purpose of this paper is to analyze the impact, opportunities, and challenges of that merger on the stability of the country's economy. Results of this analysis will be useful not only for the Government of Indonesia but also for BSI in formulating strategies to develop opportunities and mitigate risks. The result of the analysis in this paper is that the policy of Islamic bank mergers is the right step for the Government of Indonesia to maintain the stability of the country's economy. This is because the merger of these three Islamic banks is able to increase the total assets and liabilities of Islamic banks so that the allocation of financing for MSME actors is even greater. Besides that, the merger of Islamic banks is considered to be able to expand market share penetration and can streamline company costs, such as capital expenditure, overhead costs, and so on. Another impact of the policy of the merger of state-owned Islamic banks is being able to compete nationally and internationally with conventional banks through the provision of more complete services, as well as being able to create healthy competition for the country's economy.

The causes of corrupt practices are the poor character of the state apparatus and the breakdown of the Indonesian bureaucratic, political, and government systems. Therefore, this paper discusses how Islam views corruption and how Islam have solutions that can be offered to cope with the corruption cases. Some solution from Islam are preventive control like giving decent wages, prohibitation to accept bribes and gifts, recommends holding a treasure count in the first and last term of office, choosing good exemplary leaders, enforcing fair punishments and increasing control from the community so that they always adhere to the creed, morality and shari'ah itself and then the repressive control is more to heavy punishment like will be imprisoned, hand cut off, and the death penalty.

Abstract

The pandemic that has occurred since 2020 has increase unemployment as well as micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) which have suffered losses and exit from the market. These cause unstability condition of the Indonesian economy. Alternative solution that can be explored is Islamic Social Finance, one of which is waqf. Unfortunately, the huge potential of waqf is not followed by the realization which is so lomited. Therefore, many ways are needed to realise the potential of waqf. One that can be applied is to increase the use of cash waqf which can be channeled into qardhul hasan loan capital for people in need and another way, namely Cash Waqf Linked Sukuk. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach and library research techniques, where the data is obtained from various literatures in the form of journals, articles, survey reports, and the results of previous research. By using the AD-AS curve analysis, if waqf is used as an Islamic social finance instrument as an economic recovery and its management runs optimally, they will be able to increase aggregate demand and aggregate supply so it will have a positive effect on the country's economic growth.
