Abstract

During 2018-2019 there were floods in the Bandar Lampung area. In general, the flood that occurs is only inundation with a maximum height of 2 meters. Therefore, every residential area or roadside must have water catchment areas such as a stretch of land in the form of planting or sidewalks that have pores such as paving blocks that can absorb rainwater into the ground. Making paving blocks in this study used cocoa shell waste because it was indicated that it could be processed into charcoal which contains a lot of carbon which can absorb water, with this composition absorbing water between eco-pavings blocks. The purpose of this research is to utilize cocoa shell waste to manufacture eco-paving blocks and to analyze the physical characteristics of cocoa shell eco-paving blocks. The effect of cocoa shell waste on Eco-Paving Blocks in this study is that the more cocoa shell waste fiber is used, the more porous cavities in the eco-paving block will be, and vice versa. The paving block of cocoa shell waste produced in this study has an average density test value of 1670.751 kg/m3 to 1929.642 kg/m3. The water absorption test obtained an average value of 11.18% - 19.82%. For the infiltration test, the largest value was obtained, namely in treatment 1, which was 0.355 mm/s. The visible test is obtained with the shape of the appropriate paving texture obtained on the P2 factor because the resulting texture is good and there are no gaps or defects when the paving has been printed. Meanwhile, in the compressive strength test, the average value decreased significantly from the P1 variation to the P4 variation. The highest value was in treatment P1 with a value of 0.0154 MPA, while the lowest value occurred in treatment P4 with a value of 0.0030 MPA. However, in this study there were several parameters that did not meet the criteria for quality standard paving D. Keywords: Eco-Paving Block, Cocoa Shell Waste

Abstract

Chicken eggs are a food that is very rich in nutrients, including protein (12.8%) and fat (11.8%). The high levels of water, fat and protein in eggs can make them a good medium for bacterial growth. Quality deterioration in eggs can be prevented by using egg preservation methods, namely drying eggs into egg powder or flour. Chicken eggs are still very limited and inefficient processing to be used as salted egg flour. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research on the manufacture of boiled salted chicken egg flour (Gallus gallus. D). This research was conducted to study the making of boiled salted chicken egg flour and understand the characteristics by taking measurements on whole eggs, egg whites, and yolks using the proximate test method, measurement of fineness, and color test. This research was conducted using a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) model consisting of 6 testing factors (T) and (A), namely: T1 whole unsalted chicken eggs, T2 white unsalted chicken eggs, T3 yellow unsalted chicken eggs, A1 whole salted chicken eggs, A2 white salted chicken eggs, and A3 yellow salted chicken eggs. The research results of salted chicken egg flour making is a process that involves drying salted eggs and grinding them into flour form. The preparation of salted egg flour showed that the difference between regular chicken eggs and salted chicken eggs, which resulted, affected the proximate properties and had a noticeable impact on the nutritional composition and physical properties of the egg flour produced, while the moisture content was not significantly different. Keywords: Chicken Egg Flour, Egg Preservation, Proximate Properties, Salted Eggs.

Abstract

Ginger has a fairly high fiber content that can affect the flour produced when it goes through the powdering process. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of the direction and the thickness of ginger slices on the level of flour fineness. The experiment was conducted by using a completely randomized design (CRD) with two factors. The first factor is the direction of the slice with two treatments, namely vertical slice (V) and horizontal slice (H). The second factor was the thickness of the slices with three levels, namely 2 mm (T1), 4 mm (T2), and 6 mm (T3). It treatment combination was carried out in triplicates. The parameters observed were moisture content, repose angle, degree of fineness, uniformity index, grain yield, bulk density, and color. The data obtained were analyzed by using Anova test available in Excel and SAS, if there is significant different among the parameters, then is followed by LSD test at α = 0,05. The results showed that the direction of slices significantly affect the fineness of the flour, in which vertically sliced cuts produced better fineness than that of horizontally sliced cuts. The thickness of cuts did not significantly influence the flour characteristic. Keywords:  Fineness, Ginger, Ginger Fiber, Ginger Flour, Slice Direction, Thickness of the Slices.

Abstract

Soil erosion is a process or event of loss of the upper soil layer, either caused by the movement of water or wind. This erosion process can lead to a deterioration in soil productivity, soil carrying capacity, and environmental quality. The surface of the earth's skin will always experience an erosion process, somewhere there will be erosion while elsewhere there will be hoarding, so the shape will always change all the time. This event occurs naturally and takes place very slowly, so the consequences arise only after decades or even hundreds of years later (Suripin, 2002). This study aims to suspect the erosion rate in the GIS-based Sekampung Hulu watershed, determine the Erosion Hazard Level in the Sekampung Hulu watershed, and describe the distribution of Erosion Rate and Erosion Hazard Level in the Sekampung Hulu watershed. The research was conducted from June to August 2020 at the Department of Agricultural Engineering, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. The results of the study obtained the results of analysis through GIS application of the highest erosion analysis found in dryland agriculture mixed with shrubs with a very steep slope (>45%) with an area of 1.78 ha. Erosion Hazard Rate in Sekampung Hulu watershed is classified as heavy with a percentage of 33.96% with an area of 14,506.99 ha. Keywords: Erosion, Erosion Hazard Level, Land Use, Slope, Soil, Watershed Area of Sekampung Hulu.

Abstract

Floods in the city of Bandar Lampung are events that occur every year. This has a detrimental impact on humans and the environment, especially during the rainy season where floods often occur. To reduce the impact of human and environmental losses due to floods, this can be done through mitigating flood- prone areas by mapping flood-prone areas using the GIS 10.3 application with the overlay method by combining the parameters used and weighting each parameter to be produce a flood hazard map. This study aims to determine areas that have high flood potential, the main factors causing flooding and to determine the flood vulnerability class in each area of Bandar Lampung City. The parameters used in this study are Land Form, Rainfall, Soil Type, Land Slope, Land Altitude and Building Density. The analysis technique was carried out by giving weights to each environmental parameter and overlay techniques (tumpeng stacking maps) using the GIS application, analysis of building density levels using Landsat 8 image interpretation OLI Band 5 and Band 6. The results showed that the main factors causing flooding in Bandar City Lampung, namely high and evenly distributed rainfall in the city of Bandar Lampung reaching 3000 mm/year. Districts with a very high level of flood vulnerability are in the Bumi Waras District, covering an area of 13% of the administrative area of the District. Then areas that have a high level of flood vulnerability include Panjang 9% and East Betung Bay 4% of the area.North Betung Bay 9% and East Betung Bay 3.17% of the area. Keywords: ArcGis, Flood, Vulnerability, Weighting.

Abstract

Agricultural machine tools with technology can help processes in agriculture so that time is more effective, cost-effective and improves the quality or quality of plants or products, such as vacuum frying which is used to fry fruit chips that are susceptible to hot temperatures so that the taste of fruit chips from vacuum frying will be similar to the original fruit. The use of agricultural tools and machines cannot be separated from K3 and ergonomics. Therefore this research was conducted for the ergonomics of a vacuum fryer in terms of anthropometry, recommended workload, work fatigue, and the physical work environment. This study used a quantitative method supported by literature studies on the ergonomic dimensions of a vacuum fryer or in accordance with the size of the human body. The results showed that the ergonomic dimensions of the tool corresponded to the dimensions of the operator's body in the form of control box height, stove height, frying tube cover height, pressure output height, pressure regulator height, and stirrer lever. The level of operator fatigue is classified as ergonomic because the CVL (Cardiovascular Load) percentage obtained is ≤ 30% so that fatigue does not occur in operating the tool. The recommended workload is classified as ergonomic because the actual load lifted is lower than the RWL calculation results. The temperature measurement is not ergonomic because the temperature exceeds the NAV, while the lighting is classified as ergonomic because it has exceeded the minimum standard value for lighting and the noise measurement is classified as ergonomic because it does not exceed 88 dBA. In operating a vacuum fryer, it can be done in the morning or there is a work station repair so that glare does not occur when using the machine, and when using it, it must be equipped with personal protective equipment (PPE). Keywords: Anthropometry, Ergonomic, Vacuum Fryer

Abstract

Activities in agricultural machinery workshops must concern with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), especially the physical conditions of the work environment. There are potential physical dangers, especially noise from machines in the workshop. This research aims to analyze the noise level at the UPTD Agricultural Machinery Workshop, Main Center for Food Crops and Agricultural Machinery, Lampung Province, and provides recommendations for control engineering. The parameters observed in the research were noise, temperature and humidity. Noise level was measured by using a sound level meter for the source of the sound when the machines were turned on, at fifty measurement points determined based on applicable regulations. Temperature and humidity were measured using a digital hygrometer thermometer, at three observation points. The measurement results were compared with the applied quality standards in Indonesia. Noise measurement resulted (88.29 ± 11.58) dBA, with 7 sound sources turned on simultaneously. Based on Minister of Manpower Regulation No. 5 of 2018, at this noise level the maximum exposure time for workers is 4 hours per day. If the time limit exceeds, workers must use ear protection or do the job in rotation (in shift work). Average temperature measurement resulted (28.8 ± 0.3)°C and average humidity measurement (61.5 ± 7.8)%. Referring to the Decree of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia No. 1405 of 2002, the air temperature and humidity at the UPTD Agricultural Machinery Workshop, Main Center for Food Crops and Agricultural Machinery, Lampung Province is still above the requirements for working environmental health. Keywords: Ergonomics, Noise, OHS, Physical Environment, Potential Physical Hazards.

Abstract

Coffee is one of the mainstay plantation commodities in Indonesia. In 2015 Indonesia had a coffee plantation area of 1,254,382 hectares, with a production of 379,005 tons. Coffee is one of the mainstay commodities in Indonesia's plantation sector. The role of coffee commodities for the Indonesian economy is quite important, both as a source of income for coffee farmers, a source of foreign exchange, a producer of industrial raw materials, and a provider of employment through processing, marketing, and trade activities (exports and imports). The Robusta coffee drying process will result in the dried product experiencing changes in color, texture, and aroma. The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics and drying process of Robusta coffee using a rack-type hybrid drying house with three treatments, namely, drying with a drying house using solar energy, drying with a drying house using solar energy and gas energy (hybrid) and conventional drying. The length of time to dry 10 kg of Robusta coffee to approximately 11.5% moisture content is for drying with a drying house using solar energy takes 96 hours or 12 days, for drying with a drying house using solar energy and gas (hybrid) takes 80 hours (10 days) and for drying using tampah (conventional) takes 104 hours (13 days). Keywords: Dryer, Hybrid, Robusta Coffee.
