Abstract

Stereotypes are stamps or labels that are often used by certain societies against women. One of the stereotypes depicted in the short story Amina by Shirley Saad is the stereotype of women. This study aims to describe the practice and impact of stereotypes on women experienced by the character Amina in the short story Amina. Stereotypes construct public perceptions of women and reinforce the stigma that women tend to be objects of labelling. The forms of negative labeling are developed from the social order internalized by women themselves. Negative labeling can have an impact on women's lives. This type of research uses qualitative methods to obtain information and depiction of stereotypes experienced by the character Amina. The data were taken from the short story entitled Amina by Shirley Saad and are using theory of feminist literary criticism. The stages of data collection are using reading, listening, and note-taking techniques to obtain relevant information. Meanwhile, the data research phase uses data analysis techniques. The results of the study show the stereotypical practice of women with negative labeling that women are baby machines, emotional, obedient, weak, and male servants. Stereotypes have a mental and physical impact, including depression, lack of confidence. and suffering. Keywords: Stereotypes, Impact, Women

Abstract

In this study the authors analyzed the Compound Word in Internet Dating Terms. The author focuses on analyzing the merge of words from existing words to rise the new words/meanings or can also be referred as compounding. The data taken by the author are the words that exist in the term of internet dating by taking examples from cases in social media, namely Twitter. Examples of data cases taken by the author are calculated from March 31, 2020 - March 31, 2022. The method used in this study is descriptive analysis. According to Rakhmat (68), descriptive research method is a research method that only describes situations/events but also explain the data systematically. In researching the selected data, the writer classified the data based on the elements that make up words/expressions on internet dating by focusing on Endocentric and Exocentric Compound. From the analysis, it can be concluded that compound words in internet dating terms were formed mostly by free morphemes, most compound words were not compositional. Abstract

This study aims to determine the design of the Pazuka-Gemu interactive media for learning Kanji N5. The media was created using the Adobe Flash CS6 application. And the method that the author uses in this study uses the ADDIE model development method (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). This media contains about learning kanji with puzzle games. In this study, there is an explanation of the Pazuka-Gemu interactive media starting from the display design to the credit menu. This media is designed to help students in learning Kanji N5 in understanding the kanji material. The material in the media is taken from the Kanji Master book and Sematskill.com Web. The conclusion from the results of this study is that the Pazuka-Gemu interactive media design has been successfully implemented so that the media can run well. Abstract

Besides being famous for its technological advances, Japan is also famous as the land of gods because there are many mythologies about gods in Japan and one of the famous Gods is the God Ebisu. Ebisu is a god of Luck who is still believed to exist by the people of Japan. Based on the enthusiasm of the Japanese people towards the God Ebisu, the author wanted to conduct research with the aim to determine the manifestation of the belief of the Japanese people to the God Ebisu and the embodiment of the God Ebisu in Japanese pop culture. The method used by the author in this study is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach the results of this study is the discovery of some manifestations of the belief of the Japanese people to the God Ebisu that is praying,idols and Matsuri. The first manifestation is to pray to the God Ebisu, this is the most frequent manifestation of Japanese society because it is a manifestation that is considered the most practical. The second is an idol, the Japanese people believe in the blessing of the God Ebisu and his protection they can also get in the form of an object. The last is Matsuri, this Matsuri activity is essentially an activity to invite gods or welcome the presence of Gods, by presenting all the dishes that exist and by showing an attitude of devotion to the Gods in order to get guidance and blessings. The embodiment of the God Ebisu in Japanese popular culture is in the form of a character who has the basis of the God Ebisu. The depiction of Ebisu's form and nature in popular culture has undergone changes when compared to the form and nature of Japanese folk mythology. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the meaning of denotation and connotations in the lyrics of the song La La Lost You by NIKI solo singer from Indonesia who Go International. The formulation of the problem in this study is first. How is the denotation meaning of the lyrics of the song La La Lost You by NIKI? second What is the connotation of the lyrics of the song La La Lost You by NIKI? third What is the short meaning of the lyrics of the song La La Lost You by NIKI? and the method used in this research is to use a qualitative descriptive approach to reveal the meaning of denotation and connotation. The technique of data collection was done by using sentence expression analysis. While the data analysis technique is Roland Barthes Semiotics analysis. This study concludes that first, the connotative meaning contained in the lyrics of the song La La Lost You by NIKI is to tell about the bitter taste of being in a relationship with a lover who eventually has to break up, but he is often curious about how his ex is doing. Second, the denotative meaning contained in the song is telling about enjoying the beautiful sunset and thinking if he is on the subway and if I am driving will he take the L-train. Abstract

This research aims to analyze the words in the Sage’s quotes one of the characters in the Valorant game, which has denotative and connotative meaning. The meaning of denotative word is word that has an actual meaning as it is written in the dictionary. Whereas the meaning of connotative word is word that has a meaning according to suggestion, or what is associated with a word that goes beyond its formal definition. Connotations are personal associations produced by words. Denotation is an objective relationship between the linguistic form and to which it refers. An example in one of the quotes is "You were a boulder. I'm a mountain." If denotatively interpreted, boulder is a big stone and mountain is a mountain. But if interpreted connotatively in Sage quotes, boulder and mountain are words that describe differences in size (strength). This research uses qualitative descriptive method, which is to gain a deeper understanding of individual participants, including opinions, perspectives, and attitudes. Data of this research taken from four Sage’s quotes uttered in the game Of Valorant. The four quotes spoken by Sage has connotative meanings with one of the reasons being to describe Sage's role as someone who has advantages over other characters. Abstract

This writing discusses about patriarchy culture of Toula’s family in The Big Fat Greek Wedding movie. Patriarchy culture is a social system in which men hold and control power. It is still found in many societies around. The Big Fat Greek Wedding tells about a Greek woman who falls in love with a non-Greek man and struggles for her family to accept the man as they confront their heritage and cultural identity. The purpose of this writing is to show that Toula’s family in this movie still adheres and resistances to patriarchy culture. Method used in this writing is qualitative method. Qualitative method is a method that involves an interpretive, description, creative, and unique, in the sense of understanding the subject matter. The data are collected and analyzed based on the perspective of literary criticism. The direct conversation and some gestures display related with patriarchy culture are taken. It is found that Toula’s father as the head of the family seems to have the power to take the decision for his family, meanwhile Toula as the child and Maria as the wife do not have. Based on the theories taken, patriarchy in this movie includes in private patriarchy. Private patriarchy originates in the home area as the first and foremost area of men's power over women. Abstract

This research is entitled Semiotic Analysis of Dead End Traffic Sign Symbols. This study aims to determine the semiotic meaning of the traffic symbol Dead End based on the meaning of color, shape and also the meaning represented by the word Dead End itself using Charles Sanders Peirce’s theory. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method because as a whole it explains how the process of sign formation and the meaning of the sign is carried out through a semantic approach. The results of this study indicate that the color, shape and also the naming of a symbol are things that have been determined and produced from every human perspective based on reality. Based on this research, it can be concluded that every symbol that is formed based on color, shape and also a word has a meaning according to each person's perspective. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out the opinion of high school students on the Drag and Drop Game as an interactive media for learning Japanese vocabulary. The method used is the ADDIE method (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Drag and Drop games are made using an application, namely Adobe Flash CS6. Questionnaires were used as a tool to collect student opinions and distributed to 12 extracurricular students at SMA Negeri 5 Cimahi. The results of high school students' opinions about the interactive media of Drag and Drop Game will be calculated using a Likert scale whether this Drag and Drop Game is feasible or not to be used as a learning medium. The results of the Likert scale are calculated based on the results of the number of questionnaires answered by the respondents, and the calculations obtained get a percentage of 90% results. From the percentage obtained, the Drag and Drop Game media has a very good category and deserves to be used as a medium for learning vocabulary in high school. Abstract

This study aims to determine the educational values ​​that exist in Shogi. This research was conducted using a descriptive research method with a qualitative approach, by documenting various kinds of data in observations from youtube, articles, journals, online books, and information from the internet, then summarized specifically and in detail based on what was researched. The results of this study prove that shogi has educational values ​​with the roles that exist in shogi that strengthen research by producing good characters in socializing, having high concentration, strengthening social relations both in the family and in public places, and also obeying rule.
