Abstract

Product advertisements are used to introduce finishing products to the public. The purpose of advertising products is to achieve the sales goal. Currently, Xiomi and Sumsung ads, for example, are heavily published in cyberspace for the same reason. Regularly, they promote their technological advancements on smartphones in this space. In order to convey messages, they exploit icons, symbols and allegory – parts of semiology elements. This study aims to describe signified and signifier constructing linguistic forms of smartphone ads to deliver messages. Qualitative method was used to answer research question – how semiology elements present messages intended – and to describe the phenomena comprehensively. The result shows that elements of semiology functions as mental representation, argued being capable of giving significant impact of sales number of smartphones. Linguistic forms, specifically semiology of elements contribute to deliver messages effectively.

Abstract

One of the ways to utter the directive illocutionary act is by directly saying the intention explicitly using specific imperative structure. In other words, the directive illocutionary act has the linked structure and the function to the imperative structure that is to cause the hearer does the action speaker wants. However, In order to emphasize the direct directive illocutionary act, the speaker utters only the prior clause to convey the message. This notion is specified as the elliptical imperative. However, the structure uttered by the speaker does not always in full sentence, it could only consist of prior clause; verb phrase, object, adverb of time, etc. From that notion, this paper aims to discover the deep structure of the elliptical direct directive and the choice of prior clause as Searle (1976: 17) elaborated the structure of the directive illocutionary act as: I Verb You + You Fut.Verb (NP) (Adv). In order to analyze the data, the Qualitative descriptive is used in this paper. In conclusion, the direct directive illocutionary can be uttered in a short way by only uttering the prior clause of the locutionary such as: the verb, adverb of time, adverb of manner, and subject. Furthermore, the speakers should; utter previous locutionary as the reference for the short directive, utter the short directive when the action is performed by the hearer.

Abstract

Figurative language is used to express feelings by using particular style and dictions. It exist in various way, but it can be identified clearly in literary works and songs. Doel Sumbang’s “Bulan Batu Hiu”, for example, contains various type of figurative language. Thus, this research is aimed to find out the types of figurative language and meanings of figurative language in the Doel Sumbang’s song Lyric “Bulan Batu Hiu”. The methodology of this research is qualitative research. Data are taken from the lyric song. To analyze the issue, this research is using Knickerbocker and Williard Reninger (1963) ideas on classification of figurative language. As the result, Doel Sumbang’s song Lyric “Bulan Batu Hiu” has two types of figurative language, personofocations and hyperboles. There are three personifications and three hyperboles types which describe connotative meaning.

Abstract

This study aims to discuss the relation between language and culture and an overview of language realization in literary works as a manifestation of cultural preservation. The research method used to discuss this topic is descriptive method, which provides an overview of the forms of expression in literary works in the form of traditional ceremonies, pupujian, and pupuh. The results of this study indicate that in the traditional open door ceremony which contains teachings and culture that a husband will always try to sacrifice his body and soul for his beloved wife. Pupujian teaches a person for religious education, prayer, warning, and the history of the prophet. Pupuh teaches character education that humans do not indulge in lust, advice to work hard, education to invite children to be devoted to their parents. The impact of the results of this study is that language can be used as a tool in character education for students or the general public. Therefore, character education can be taught implicitly through works produced by writers.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk menganalisis penilaian responden terhadap Game Edukasi Michiko sebagai media pembelajaran shokyu kanji. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif analisis. Game Edukasi Michiko dirancang dan dikembangkan sebagai multimedia pembelajaran berbentuk game edukasi berbasis Android Studio sebagai software utama dan Canva Web sebagai software pendukung. Kelayakan Game Edukasi Michiko sebagi media pembelajaran dinilai berdasarkan penilaian berdasarkan penilaian dari 20 responden melalui kuesioner tertutup. Dari hasil penelitian tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa Game Edukasi Michiko telah memenuhi empat fungsi dari media pembelajaran yaitu fungsi atensi fungsi afektif fungsi kognitif dan fungsi kompensantoris, sehingga Game Edukasi Michiko layak digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran shokyuu kanji.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pembuatan dan hasil responden terhadap media Katagana sebagai media alternatif pembelajaran bahasa Jepang di SMA Kartika XIX-1. Media katagana dibuat menggunakan software Adobe Flash Professional CS6 dengan menggunakan bahasa pemrograman ActionScript 2. Materi yang terdapat pada media katagana berasal dari buku Sakura Vol2 yang digunakan sebagai buku pembelajaran mata pelajaran bahasa Jepang kelas XI di SMA Kartika XIX-1. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode ADDIE (Anlysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Hasil dari tanggapan responden yang didapat berdasarkan kuesioner yang disebar kepada 20 orang siswa kelas XI SMA Kartika XIX-1. Berdasarkan perhitungan kuesioner, didapatkan hasil sebesar 75,1% setuju bahwa media alternatif Katagana dapat membantu pembelajaran bahasa Jepang di SMA Kartika XIX-1. Hasil dari penelitian diharapkan dapat meningkatkan minat serta motivasi siswa dalam mempelajari bahasa Jepang agar lebih efektif dan efisien.

Abstract

The stereotype is commonly used to recognize and identify particular individual or societies. One of stereotype which is depicted in Alice Walker’s “The Color Purple" is the beauty. The beauty stereotype is experienced by most of women in the story. They are required to fulfill certain standards in order to be labeled as a graceful and beautiful woman, even that standards are imposed to be decisive for the women to enter society and the society’s system. The existing system in the community is majority controlled by thought or ideology that emphasizes the male opinion, or it is also called patriarchy. Celie, an African-American woman, is a main character facing the oppression not only because she is uneducated but also unfit the stereotype. In order to recognize kinds of beauty stereotype, this paper is using descriptive analytic method. Meanwhile, Naomi Wolf (2002) ideas on Beauty Myth is used to identify the issue. Through finding and discussions, it can be concluded that body figure and style are two dominant parts in women’s beauty stereotype.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tanggapan responden mengenai game SAGASU GOI!. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 20 orang mahasiswa tingkat I Universitas Komputer Indonesia tahun akademik 2020/2021. oses pembuatan game ini menggunakan 3 jenis software (Adobe Photoshop CS6, Android Studio dan Table Plus) serta 2 website penyedia dan konfigurasi database (Heroku dan Figma). Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa 78,7% responden setuju terhadap fitur dan tampilan yang terdapat pada game SAGASU GOI! menarik sehingga game SAGASU GOI! dapat dijadikan sebagai media alternatif pembelajaran kosakata bahasa Jepang tingkat dasar.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perilaku belajar tokoh Rizu Ogata dalam manga Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai karya Taishi Tsutsui. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif analisis dengan pendekatan psikologis. Data peneltian berupa ilustrasi-ilustrasi manga yang menggambarkan karakterisasi tokoh yang berhubungan dengan perilaku belajar tokoh Rizu Ogata dalam manga Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai karya Taishi Tsutsui. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui teknik simak dan teknik catat. Dari tujuh temuan data penelitian dapat diketahui bahwa berdasarkan teori Perilaku Belajar oleh Syah (2005) perilaku belajar tokoh Rizu Ogata digambarkan dalam enam bentuk yaitu sikap, pengamatan, inhibisi, berpikir asosiatif dan daya ingat, berpikir rasional dan kritis, dan tingkah laku afektif. melalui karakterisasi dialog dan tingkah laku.

Abstract

Humbert-Humbert in “Lolita” is portrayed as a man who admired young girls in his life due to his lack of affection during childhood. In order to fulfill the absence, Humbert has developed particular personality, which was being a well-mannered person. However, this personality was merely his way and Ego to interact with society. In addition, this personality was Humbert’s method to cope and negotiate with his deepest passion since his individuality was bound with morality rules in his society. This paper applies descriptive-analytic method and adopts McLeod’s ideas on Id, Ego and Superego to identify how Humbert coped with his deepest desire. From the discussion, this current research found that he managed himself by being a literature professor as well as a husband in order to fulfill his Id yet being tolerated with his superego. Thus, this particular personality was apparently projected as his coping method and his way to be a so-called good person in his society.
