Abstract

Handwashing with soap is a sanitation measure involving the cleaning of hands and fingers using water and soap to remove germs and interrupt their transmission. This practice is essential as hands frequently act as vectors for pathogens, transferring germs through direct or indirect contact. This research adopts a quantitative approach. The study population comprised all sixth-grade elementary school students, totaling 54 individuals. The sampling technique employed was purposive sampling, with the sample criteria being sixth-grade elementary school students. The study's findings indicate a significant relationship between knowledge factors and handwashing with soap behavior (0.028 < 0.05) and between attitude factors and handwashing with soap behavior (0.040 < 0.05). Based on these results, it can be concluded that both knowledge and attitude significantly influence handwashing behavior. This finding underscores the importance of promoting proper handwashing practices, particularly among children who are often engaged in activities that expose them to various germs. Diseases such as respiratory infections, worm infections, and diarrhea can be effectively prevented through proper handwashing with soap. Therefore, it is recommended that elementary school students in the Jaya sub-district adopt the recommended handwashing practices.

Abstract

One of the current issues is the increasing incidence of non-communicable diseases, influenced by changes in lifestyle, including high cholesterol. Cholesterol is a complex fat compound, with 80% produced endogenously and 20% derived from dietary sources. Foods high in cholesterol typically come from animal products such as egg yolks, meat, liver, and brain. This research employs a quantitative approach with descriptive analysis. The data used in this study are sourced from previous journals. Data collection involved using questionnaires to educate the community in Lhok Buya village about cholesterol, aiming to enhance their knowledge. A total of 35 respondents participated, predominantly female (31 respondents, 88.6%), with male respondents numbering 4 (11.4%). The respondents were categorized into three age groups: Adolescents (12-25 years) with 6 respondents (17.1%), Adults (26-45 years) with 18 respondents (51.4%), and the Elderly (46-65 years) with 11 respondents (31.4%). Following the educational intervention, most respondents (85.7%, or 30 individuals) demonstrated good knowledge about cholesterol, while a minority (14.3%, or 5 individuals) exhibited less understanding.

Abstract

Hypertension is a growing public health concern. This study aimed to identify factors associated with hypertension among residents of Rentang Village, Darul Hikmah District, Aceh Jaya Regency. Employing a cross-sectional design with community participation, the research found a high prevalence of hypertension. Key risk factors included lifestyle factors such as high salt intake, physical inactivity, and overweight, as well as genetic predisposition. Additionally, environmental factors like stress, air pollution, and limited healthcare access may contribute to the hypertension burden. These findings underscore the need for comprehensive interventions to increase public awareness of healthy lifestyles, address genetic risk factors, and improve healthcare accessibility. Collaborative efforts between the government, community, and stakeholders are essential to reduce hypertension's impact on Rentang Village and surrounding areas.
