Abstract

Science learning requires learning that encourages students to discover new knowledge through exploration and investigation. This study aims to investigate the implementation of the use of discovery learning module human circulatory system towards improving student’s cognitive learning outcome and scientific attitude. The type or research used is quasi-experimental using Pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design. The population of this study was 56 students of class VIII MTs N 2 Pekanbaru. The sample for this study consists of Class VIII A as the control group and Class VIII B as the experimental group. The data collection instrument was in the form of a cognitive learning outcome test and scientific attitude questionnaire. Data analysis was carried out by descriptive analysis and inferential analysis using the SPSS version 23 application. The results of this study indicate, the Discovery Learning-based module focusing on the human circulatory system demonstrates a positive significant impact on enhancing both cognitive learning outcomes and scientific attitudes, that there are differences in student cognitive learning outcomes and and scientific attitude between the control and experimental groups and the use of the discovery learning module human circulatory system is effectively used towards improve student’s cognitive learning outcomes and scientific attitude.

Abstract

Learning with more innovative media is needed to support students' abilities and also attract students' interest and attention. Apart from that, innovative media can also increase students' motivation and enthusiasm for learning. This research was conducted with the aim of developing augmented reality-based comic media to improve students' visual communication skills. This research was carried out using a 4D development model. The subjects of this research were class IV students at SDN Kendalrejo 01 Blitar Regency. The instruments used by researchers in conducting research are interviews, questionnaires, tests and also documentation. The data obtained by researchers was then analyzed to determine the level of feasibility and validity of the product. The media expert test results got a score of 97.5% and the material expert got a score of 95.8%. Researchers also conducted tests to see improvements in students' visual communication skills and obtained an average pre-test score of 70.75 and a post-test score of 95.5. The results of this research show that (1) Augmented reality-based comic media can improve students' visual communication skills. (2) The comic media developed by researchers is classified as very valid. This proves that comic media is effectively used in the learning process.

Abstract

One of the physics materials that is included in the abstract category is optical devices, especially the process of light entering the eye through a lens that cannot be seen directly by humans. The use of learning media combined with virtual reality is an alternative problem by providing visualization of material that becomes concrete in 3D or can be seen in 360°, making it easier for teachers and students in the learning process. This research aims to determine the feasibility of virtual reality-based learning media for optical devices in order to increase understanding of concepts in optical equipment, especially eyes and glasses. Validity testing is carried out by validating the learning media by experts and practicality testing is carried out by testing the media on teachers and high school students. The results of the research show that the average value of the validity test for virtual reality-based learning media reached 87% with valid criteria and while the practicality test by teachers and students obtained an average score of 90% by teachers and 89% by students with practical criteria so that the media Virtual reality-based learning is suitable for use to help the learning process in schools. Based on the validity and practicality analysis, the media can be used in real learning processes and can be tested further regarding its effectiveness.

Abstract

Alirena Foundation designed the Papuan Cultural Assessment and Modernization (PBPM) program at Sekolah Anak Indonesia (SAI) Sentul Bogor to improve the quality of graduates. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the PBPM program regarding the effectiveness of the PBPM Program Implementation using a qualitative descriptive evaluation model with data collection techniques of observation, interviews and documentation research. The Context, Input, Process, Product (CIPP) evaluation model is used to describe and explain program evaluation, review results, and make recommendations. The results showed that PBPM is a contextual, culture-based, and modernization education model. This program has a positive impact on the quality of SAI graduates. Students acquire natural science, technology, entrepreneurship and skills with the help of skilled methods of math, language and computer (MBK). PBPM is able to complete Papua with brilliant achievements. In conclusion, PBPM is an effective program to improve the quality of SAI graduates. So, if this PBPM Program is implemented in several schools in Papua, it will have a huge impact on the quality of education in the interior of Papua because this program has been tested for 5 years at Sekolah Anak Indonesia (SAI) under the auspices of the Alirena foundation.

Abstract

This study delves into the development and implementation of an application-based learning media called "Verbiloquy" aimed to improve students' English vocabulary mastery. The research was conducted at SMK Negeri 4 Pekanbaru with 32 students from class X DPK-BT 2. The ADDIE methodology, which includes Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation, provided a systematic approach to develop and implement the learning media product. Data collection involved pre-test and post-test assessments to measure the impact of the learning media on students' vocabulary mastery. Material and media experts evaluated the developed product, with results indicating high feasibility and effectiveness. The result of students’ vocabulary test was improved in the quality of their vocabulary ability measured by the result of the N-gain classification showed at 0.54 increase in students' vocabulary test scores, categorizing the improvement as "Medium." Comparison with previous studies revealed similar positive outcomes in terms of improving English vocabulary mastery using different learning tools. The study concludes that "Verbiloquy" is an effective tool for enhancing students' vocabulary skills, contributing to a more engaging and efficient learning experience. The researcher highlights the potential of Focusky as a valuable learning media in improving students' language proficiency.

Abstract

There is a research aim in this study: create an instructional design by incorporating the Teaching Practitioner program and the Multimodality approach which focus on one learning outcome: composing a product knowledge of manufacturing industry. An instructional design was developed utilizing the Dick and Carey Model, involving some developments steps. The instructional design developed for this study combined elements of the Teaching Practitioner and the Multimodality approach with the English lecturer and the practitioner playing significant roles in each phase; and the implemented instructional design was able to enhance students' writing proficiency as demonstrated by the writing results. Based on the favorable results observed in this study regarding the implementation of the instructional design, the researcher proposes that ESP courses can adopt the identical instructional design.

Abstract

Narrative text is a type of writing that tells a story to entertain readers or listener. Its main goal is to entertain people with various experiences. Additionally, language features in narrative texts include using descriptive words like adjectives and adverbs, action verbs, and being written from either a first or third-person perspective. Comics are among the various educational tools featuring illustrated stories. Their primary function in education is to inspire student motivation. Unlike other tools, comics can stand alone and improve learning outcomes even when used differently. Traditionally printed on paper, comics are now increasingly digital, accessible via computers, tablets, or smartphones. Digital comics offer an innovative and creative learning medium expected to enhance student understanding of subjects. This study aimed to develop comic media for learning media, as well as to assess the students’ response toward the media. Analysis of student responses using the Percentage of Total Response Formula developed by Riduwan (2015) indicates that students have shown a positive reaction to the developed "Comic Maker" as a learning tool for Narrative Text. With an average response percentage of 70.5%, it is evident that students have positively received the "Comic Maker" medium for learning Narrative Text. Based on the research findings, the conclusion regarding students' response to the Comic Maker for Narrative Text among eleventh-grade students is favorable.
