Abstract

Stunting is a chronic growth disorder in children under five that requires evidence-based interventions. To understand the factors that contribute to stunting in different regions of Indonesia, Bayesian Conditional Autoregressive (CAR) modeling was used to estimate the relative risk of stunting. The analysis showed that the Besag-York-Mollié (BYM) model with covariates provided the best results in estimating the risk of stunting. The data for this study were obtained from the 2018 Basic Health Research Survey. In urban areas, immunization coverage has a significant effect on stunting risk, while in rural areas, in addition to immunization, vitamin supplementation coverage and poverty level are also significant factors. Based on the modeling, the region with the highest risk in urban areas is West Sulawesi Province with a relative risk of 1.638, while the lowest is Bali Province with 0.564. In rural areas, Papua Province had the highest risk of 1.820, while North Sulawesi Province had the lowest risk of 0.599. These findings suggest that immunization coverage is instrumental in reducing stunting, both in urban and rural areas. In addition, in rural areas, increasing vitamin supplementation coverage and decreasing poverty levels can help reduce the risk of stunting. Therefore, intervention policies should be tailored to the characteristics of each region to be more effective in addressing stunting in Indonesia.

Abstract

One of the challenges faced in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in point eight is the high unemployment rate in several regions. East Java Province is one of the provinces with a relatively high Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) compared to the target set by the provincial government in 2021. In that year, East Java's TPT was recorded at 6.49%, exceeding the specified target of between 3.96% and 4.01%. In addition to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, several other factors are thought to have a significant influence on the East Java TPT. This study aims to model these factors using linear and nonparametric regression with a truncated spline approach to identify the best model. The data used in this study are secondary data from the Badan Pusat Statistika (BPS). The results showed that the best model based on the highest R² value and the lowest RMSE was nonparametric regression with a truncated spline. The variables of district/city minimum wage,Labor Force Participation Rate, and Human Development Index (HDI) have a significant effect on TPT in East Java, where this model is able to explain 91.51% of the variability in the model.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a predictive model for the thermal stability of Zinc-based Metal-Organic Frameworks (Zn-MOFs), which are crucial in high-temperature applications. The approach used is stacking ensemble learning, which integrates several base models, including Ridge Regression, Lasso Regression, K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) Regression, Support Vector Regression (SVR), Linear Regression, RANSAC (Random Sample Consensus), Huber Regression, and Gaussian Process Regression, with the meta-model TheilSenRegressor. Experimental results indicate that the stacking model delivers high-accuracy predictions, evidenced by a Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE) of 0.0025 and a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.9993 on the training data, and an RMSE of 0.0023 and an R² of 0.9994 on the test data, demonstrating the model's excellent generalization capability. A comparison with the Robust Regression model shows that the stacking model is more stable and consistent in providing accurate predictions for both the training and test sets. These findings suggest that the machine learning-based stacking ensemble learning approach can serve as a more efficient and faster alternative to conventional experimental methods in predicting the thermal stability of Zn-MOFs.

Abstract

Abstract: The re-emergence of Monkeypox poses significant public health challenges in Indonesia. This disease continues to spread due to its zoonotic nature and the high frequency of human-animal interactions. This study aims to model the transmission dynamics of Monkeypox using the SIQR (Susceptible, Infectious, Quarantined, Recovered) framework and apply optimal control strategies through the Pantryagin Maximum Principle (PMP). Data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health were utilised for model parameterisation, with numerical simulations conducted using the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method. Control strategies included quarantine, tecovirimat, and public education. The simulation results revealed that implementing optimal control reduced the infected population by up to 75% within the first 10 months compared to scenarios without control. The basic reproduction number () was successfully reduced from 2.5 to below 1, indicating that the outbreak was controlled. Additionally, the recovery rate increased by 30%, with the susceptible population achieving a disease-free equilibrium by the eighth month. These findings highlight that mathematically-driven interventions can provide effective solutions for managing infectious diseases. It is recommended that these strategies be integrated into public health policies to optimise resource allocation. Further research is necessary to evaluate the scalability of this approach for other zoonotic diseases.

Abstract

Java Island has been significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, which started in March 2020. This study aims to analyze the impact of the pandemic on the volume of railway passengers’ volume with a time series approach using an interventional ARIMA model. The data used is the number of monthly passengers from 2015 to 2024. Initial modeling on data before the pandemic produced the best model, namely ARIMA (0,2,1). To measure the impact of the pandemic, a gradual step intervention function is used which represents the gradual effect of the event. The estimation results show that the ARIMA (0,2,1) model with a gradual step intervention function is able to provide more accurate forecasting results, with a MAPE value of 18.39%. This model effectively captures changes in mobility patterns due to the pandemic, especially in the post-intervention recovery phase. The findings make an important contribution to transportation policy evaluation and future strategic planningKeywords: Time Series, ARIMA  Intervention, Gradual Function, Railway
