Abstract

The manuscript in this research is Sěrat Rama, collection of the Yogyakarta Sonobudoyo Museum Library with the collection code PB A.243 / L291. In the colophon, it was stated that the initiator was B.P.H Jayakusuma, the son of the Sultan Sepuh (HB II). Pages 1—11 were copied on Wednesday Wage, 1 Sura, Alip 1835 (March 8, 1905) whereas page 12 onwards written in older model, estimated to be copied around the middle to late 19th century. What's interesting about this manuscript is the presence of the rubric inside. The rubric contained in Sěrat Rama manuscript is a type of decorative rubric. There is a form of rubric accompanied by writing and there is also a rubric which is only a picture of flowers. Based on the location, rubrication divided into two, there are in the margins of the manuscript pages and between the text. Each type of rubrication also has its own function and meaning. Therefore, this study aims to describe the types, functions, and meanings of the rubrics contained in the Sěrat Rama script. To analyze the meaning, Charles Sanders Pierce's semiotic approach is used. Thedescriptive analytic is used as the research method. The expected results of this study are in the form of a description of the types of rubrication, function, and their meaning. Knowing the meaning of the rubric contained in Sěrat Rama's text will make it easier to understand the contents of the story.

Abstract

This study uses Kidung Tunjung Biru as object. The problems raised in this study include structure and the meaning of Kidung Tunjung Biru. Theory which was employed in this study is a structural theory and semiotic theory. Methods and techniques used in this study were divided into three phases, (1) the stage of data collection method is used to read assisted with translation techniques, (2) the stage of data analysis used descriptive analysis method, and (3) the stage of presentation of the results of the analysis used informal and formal methods. The results obtained from this study is structure of Kidung Tunjung Biru consisting of: metrum and languages. The meaning contained in Kidung Tunjung Biru, consisting of: flowers in a symbolic;the expression of love; and the concept of kalepasan (unity of God and Human).

Abstract

Not  all of Jawi manuscripts in the Kerinci had documented and transliterated by Voorhoeve. For example, the document Cod. Or. 12. 326, the collection of Universiteit Leiden Library or the document ML 396, the collection of Perpustakaan Nasional. This research purpose is for knowing the contain of the text  of ML 396/Cod. Or. 12.326 and considering the historical background ofthe text. The method that utilized in this research is collecting of data, transliterating and interpretating text of manuscripts from historical perspective. The result of this research, known that three manuscripts are surat piagam (royal charter) from Jambi Sultanate to Depati Suta Menggala in Tanah Seleman, Kerinci. Meanwhile, two manuscripts other are surat titah (royal commandment letter) for Depati Empat. The first surat titah from Sultan Ahmad Syah and Pangeran Suta Mangunjaya, contains the adjuration of troop assistance to attact Palembang people. The second surat titah from Sultan Ahmad Syah, contains the bidding of Sultan in order to Depati Empat still recognized his authority and cooperated with him, accompanied by special rewards that offered. The five manuscripts was issued in ongoing conflict between two successors of Jambi Kingdom in 17th century.

Abstract

In the old tradition of Nusantara literature, in this case Malay and Javanese, often represented a model of society that adhered to a patriarchal system. This system puts women at the subordinate level, under the domination of men. This phenomenon was also represented in one of the manuscripts of the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia collection entitled 'Hikayat Darma Tasiyah' with the script code W 124B. This study aims to deconstruct the point of view of reading the script using Derrida's deconstruction approach model, in order to obtain a new meaning which is binary in opposition to the general meaning produced from the point of view of structural readings. With deconstruction reading, the meaning of obedience and silence turns into acts of resistance, mistakes become rebellion, expulsion is precisely like liberation and so on. As a literary work that discusses the patriarchy system, Hikayat Darma Tasiyah is actually able to turn into a destroyer of the patriarchy system itself, only through deconstruction reading.
