Abstract

The era of borrowing Didi Kempot's ambyar reveals the symptoms and turmoil. Ambyar does not only captures politics, economics, and the environment, but even our religious ways are also ambyar. Religion let convey holiness or being a saint is considered irrelevant. In this age of ambyar, there is a tension between the holy (the sacred) and the profane (the profane). So, is it true that modern people cannot be sacred? This study analyzes this problem with the design of a literature study, in the approach of analyzing the philosophy of religion Mircea Eliade. The results of the study: through the central concept of restoring holiness with systematic stages, Eliade drew back the profane to the holy. The implications of such conclusions are 1) Modern society is often defined as a human being who affirms holiness and is attracted to the profane. Meanwhile, sacred events existed only in archaic times and were lived by archaic humans. Repetition is the key to the restoration of the profane world to the holy world. Repetition turns profane time into mythic time, past time into a re-experiential present. 2) We may still experience holiness in our daily lives in repetition, in the present moment. However, profanity and holiness are the existential choices of the man himself

Abstract

Economic improvement through foreign investment in the plantation sector, for example, increasing capitalization and plantation expansion continues to erode customary land. Customary land encroachment is an issue that often sticks to the expansion of oil palm plantations. An unfavorable mechanism for resolving land conflicts led to prolonged resistance between the Peasants and the rulers. This research uses qualitative methods with ethnographic studies, with critical analysis. Data collection techniques through interviews, participatory observation, literature studies, and documentation support data obtained from the field. The selection of informants uses snowball sampling.  The case in Nagari Lingkuang Aua is viewed from the point of view of ecological politics and Peasant Resistance. Research findings show that land conflicts between farmers and companies have been occurring for a long time. The demands of the crate society were not taken seriously by the company. the company is stalling for time by taking refuge behind the HGU permits they have. Such conditions are also supported by the weak critical reasoning of local governments. They tend to protect the company and not investigate further because the company already has an HGU. The disillusionment of the farming community made them continue their resistance until now.

Abstract

Indonesia as it is known is an archipelagic country with various types of tribes, religions, races, regional languages, and cultures that develop in it. The diversity of tribes and various communities raises the problem of racism which is increasingly clouded by the rapid development of information and communication technology. The issue of racism, which is often carried out through social media, has in fact made the mass media open their voices and even more so the media and the community have also encouraged the government to be firm in giving moral and legal sanctions to anyone who commits racism. This study focuses on cases of racism that have long been felt by the Papuan people, which gave rise to the #PapuanLivesMatter movement. Because racial discrimination and racism against indigenous Papuans are still an important urgency which is a source of conflict in tolerance for diversity. So there needs to be synergy from various parties to stop this discriminatory practice. This study uses a netnographic method and data collection is carried out through online observations through hashtags on social media namely Instagram and Twitter as well as library data. This research has results including providing an overview of the uploaded content, namely the selection of visual use in photo, design, or video formats, how to convey messages (captions), and the involvement of activists who take part in the #PapuanLivesMatter Movement action. This study aims to explain that the #PapuanLivesMatter Movement demands justice and equality. THere is still a lot of discrimination and racism accepted by the Papuan.

Abstract

After the Russian invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022, the intertwined conflict between these two countries has provoked a ripple effect on public discourses across social media. In reality, the dynamics of the public narrative on the internet have provided a chance for political actors to create disinformation. Although Ukraine is the victim of the aggression, Ukrainian media' and politicians' response by constructing public propaganda and distorting the reality sparks various controversies for all social media users and other observers. A qualitative approach was used in this study with a review literature design. This study attempts to identify the main reasons behind the tendency toward Ukraine propaganda by justifying their action to disseminate misleading information and defy the truth in covering this case of an unjust war. Here it shows the fulfilled indicators of logical fallacies which have led the users to illogical sentiment entrenched in their interactions within the media plata form. The contribution of this study is an affirmation of the importance of critical thinking in the science of reason related to media literacy.

Abstract

The reality of our everyday life is now stifled by dense images taken by mobile phones. It is still acceptable to claim that digital photographic images are currently invading the phone memory space and social media communication platforms used for working and daily activities like Whatsapp, Instagram, or Telegram. The sheer production and distribution of such images give rise to the virality of malicious digital photographs. This unfortunate circumstance can lead to the negative spread of hoaxes, misinformation, and disinformation. Virality then undermines veracity. Digital photographic records fabricated exponentially are then thinning the line between the truth and the viral. Such image manipulation is indeed a serious problem because public scamming is now orchestrated and conducted through digitally reconstructed images which are aggressively invading chatrooms. To cope with this surge, the authors propose philosophical analyses through examining all possible ways to manipulate photographic images conceived by 35 artists participating in Bandung Photography Triennale 2022. As analytical instruments to probe the prospect of veracity to distance itself from virality, the authors employed three triangulated categories extracted from philosophical discourses on photography, that is, the Eye, the time signature, and the ideology.

Abstract

Everyone wants to live a prosperous life. However, in the pursuit of well-being, wrong decisions are often made due to either psychological or rational reasons. Living in the digital era where everything is easier does not necessarily make this process error-free. The digital economy has been a vital part of the strategy to achieve well-being. Amidst the process, the digital economy finally found its place in the metaverse where people can interact with others in a virtual but seemingly real way. A bibliometric analysis was carried out in this literature review.  Results show that humans need to continuously improve themselves before they can finally implement all their financial plans and achieve well-being. At the same time, given how critical innovation is for success, humans need to keep innovating. One of the ways to innovate is to implement digitalization principles in every aspect of life. In addition, it is also important to focus and improve adoption of metaverse principles to direct human intentional behavior to well-being
