Abstract

The development of mudarabah deposits at five private Islamic commercial banks in Indonesia during 2015-2024 fluctuated alongside changes in inflation and the exchange rate. These fluctuations indicate that macroeconomic conditions may influence public decisions to place funds in mudarabah deposits. Previous studies have shown inconsistent findings, creating a research gap that warrants further investigation. This study examines the effect of inflation and the exchange rate on mudarabah deposits at five Private Sharia Commercial Banks PT Bank BCA Syariah, PT Bank Mega Syariah, PT Bank Muamalat Indonesia, PT Bank Panin Dubai Syariah, and PT Bank BTPN Syariah. The sample was selected using purposive sampling from 14 Islamic Commercial Banks. Secondary data were obtained from annual financial reports and inflation and exchange-rate data published by Bank Indonesia. Data were analyzed using panel data regression, classical assumption tests, t-test, F-test, and coefficient of determination with EViews 9. The Random Effect Model was selected as the best model. The results show that inflation has no significant effect on mudarabah deposits (sig. = 0.2079), while the exchange rate has a positive and significant effect (sig. = 0.0000). Simultaneously, both variables significantly affect mudarabah deposits (sig. = 0.000007), with an Adjusted R-squared of 0.370252, indicating that they explain 37.03% of the variation in mudarabah deposits.
