Abstract

PT XYZ, a ball manufacturer, faced difficulty in setting a labor schedule due to the Pandemi situation, which resulted in limited operational costs and a decline in ball demand. This study aims to solve the problem of regulating the number of workers using the Tibrewala, Philippe & Browne algorithm. The algorithm helps in determining the amount of daily labor required for each production process. The data processing was carried out during Pandemi to determine the effective labor scheduling for all operators. The results showed the need for a reduction in labor, which was achieved by modeling effective labor scheduling within a week period. The cost analysis showed that scheduling could reduce operational costs. Therefore, the study suggested providing training to each operator to work on the entire production process so that the number of operators off is minimized. The algorithm can be beneficial in regulating the workforce in a job order-based company.

Abstract

This study aimed to propose a layout design for the dining area of Dr Mochtar Riady Student Center, Universitas Ma Chung using ergonomics to maximize the area and support facilities. Currently, the dining area is not utilized optimally, and the facilities are inadequate. The study utilized an ergonomic approach to develop a layout design that can maximize the area and support facilities on the 1st and 2nd floors. The proposed design includes an increase in tables from 36 to 138, chairs from 190 to 652, electrical contact areas from 3 to 22, and trash bins from 3 to 14. Additionally, the design includes new facilities for stands, booths, sinks, and return racks to enhance the dining experience. The proposed layout design can provide a comfortable and ergonomic dining area for students, employees, and lecturers. The results of the study can be used as a reference for other universities in optimizing their dining areas.

Abstract

This study focuses on improving the design of facility layout and work equipment to enhance productivity by efficiently utilizing production floors and designing ergonomic equipment. The proposed facility layout was developed using blocplan, and evaluation criteria included adjacency score, rail dist score, R-score, and distance of material transfer. The ninth alternative was chosen, with an adjacency score of 0.62, rail dist score of 993.43, R-score of 0.85, and a material transfer distance of 71.83 meters. Regarding work equipment design, an anthropometric approach was used to design chairs and tables that are ergonomic. The proposed chair design has a height of 396.1 mm, seat width of 422.6 mm, seat length of 348.4 mm, back height of 531.5 mm, and back width of 423.25 mm. The proposed table has a height of 656 mm, width of 1276.1 mm, and length of 6135 mm. The study demonstrates that improving the design of facilities and work equipment can significantly improve productivity and employee comfort, emphasizing the importance of ergonomics in workplace design. The findings of this study can be useful for companies seeking to improve productivity through facility and equipment design.

Abstract

This study addresses the changes in production layout at PT NS Bluescope Lysaght Indonesia, caused by the relocation of the factory to a wider land and the use of a different crane. The new factory utilizes Gantry Crane that uses rails on the production floor, which limits the land used. The study uses the Computerized Relationship Layout Planning (Corerap) algorithm to propose alternative production layouts. Four layout proposals were generated, and the layout proposal with the smallest product transfer distance was selected. The results showed that layout proposal 4 was the most effective and efficient, with a total displacement range of 453.7 meters. This study highlights the importance of using advanced algorithms to optimize production layouts, particularly when changes in equipment and facilities occur. The proposed layout can potentially increase productivity and efficiency in production. The study contributes to the body of knowledge on production layout planning and optimization using computerized algorithms.

Abstract

Risk management is crucial to minimize the negative effects of potential risks on business processes and operations. In this study, CV Ladang Management, an individual bussiness in the advertising industry, implemented the House of Risk model to identify risk agents and develop appropriate mitigation plans. The analysis of data obtained through this model revealed 15 risk events and 15 risk agents that can affect the company's business processes. Based on the prioritization of risks, 7 priority risk agents were identified, and 11 mitigation plans were proposed to address them. The plans include measures such as choosing tailors with optimal distances and investing in sewing machines for each tailor. By implementing these mitigation plans, CV Ladang Management can reduce the impact of potential risks and ensure the continuity of its business operations.

Abstract

This study focuses on assessing the comfort of students when using computer laboratories at Universitas Ma Chung, particularly in terms of temperature and lighting. Using the participatory ergonomic approach, a comfort questionnaire was administered to students, with a total of 13 questions covering three indicators: room temperature, room lighting, and LCD. The questionnaire results were then tested using validity, reliability, and normality tests. The findings reveal that temperature and lighting do indeed have an impact on the level of comfort experienced by students when using a computer laboratory. These results have implications for campus facilities management and suggest the need for improvements to the temperature and lighting conditions in computer laboratories to enhance the comfort and well-being of students. By using the participatory ergonomic approach, this study provides valuable insights into the importance of considering user comfort in the design and management of campus facilities.
