NEOLOGIA: Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia is a peer-reviewed scientific open access journal, with e-ISSN 2829-9612 and p-ISSN 2087-2496. It has been published by the Department of Indonesian Language and Literature, Faculty of Language and Literature, Universitas Negeri Makassar. NEOLOGIA is published since 2010. NEOLOGIA is issued semiannually: in February and Auguts. NEOLOGIA publishes manuscripts on research in linguistics and literature. NEOLOGIA features research novelties and significance for scientific advancement in one of the fields of the published manuscripts. This journal welcomes submissions from around the world as well as from Indonesia. Manuscripts published include but are not limited to the following. Linguistics; phonology, morphology, syntax, discourse analysis, psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, and critical discourse analysis. Literature: local literature studies, Indonesian literature, foreign literature studies, children literature, literature studies for character education, and other literary studies. The editorial board would like to receive manuscripts submitted via the online submission system. Make sure that the manuscripts meet the scope and submission guidelines of the journal. Abstract

This study aims to describe phrases, sentences, or paragraphs that describe social reflections and reflections of the times contained in the novel Mei Merah 1998: Kala Arwah Berkisah  by Naning Pranoto using the study of sociology of literature by Alan Swingewood.  This research is qualitative.  The data in this study were obtained by the case study method.  The source of the data was obtained by reading the novel Mei Merah 1998: Kala Arwah by Naning Pranoto. The results of this study are forms of social reflection and reflection of the times that describe social phenomena that occurred during the reformation period where there were rebellions and looting and rape committed by demonstrators.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain an in- depth description of the actual conditions in which prisoners' language is used. The data in this study are prisoners' perceptions of language politeness which were collected based on the results of a questionnaire survey in the field from 72 respondents from prisoners. The type of research used in this study is qualitative with a descriptive-qualitative approach. The results of this study indicate that the perception of prisoners in the Class IIA Sungguminasa Women's Prison towards the use of polite language is quite high, which is around 85% but in its use it is also often used harsh language by 82% of all inmates at the Class IIA Sungguminasa Women's Prison.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the form of code contained in Toraja folklore comics using Roland Barthes' semiotic theory. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative. The results of the study state that there are five code systems in Toraja folklore comics. The gnomic code states several cultural codes found in the Toraja tribe, the hermeneutic code states the problem solving performed by the characters in the story, the semik code states that the characters in comics give masculine attitudes in dealing with problems, the symbolic code states problem solving according to their respective cultures, while the pro-aetic code states attitudes that imply human behavior, both positive and negative attitudes.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the reduction, addition and change of variations of Meira Anastasia's Imperfect Novel to Ernest Prakasa's Imperfect Film. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative research method. The data sources in this research are the Novel Imperfect by Meira Anastasia and the Film Imperfect by Ernest Prakasa. The results of this study indicate that there are reductions, additions and changes in variations that occur in the characters, plots and settings in the novel Imperfect by Meira Anastasia to the Film Imperefect by Ernest.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the monarchical feud in the stageplay script La Tinro by Rostan Yuniardi by using the study of  the sociology of literature by Ian Watt. This research type is descriptive qualitatives. Researcher found, the identity or background of the author in terms of social status and ethnic origin affect the selectionof plots and characterizations of the drama script. The reflection of people’s lives is dominated by the description of the position and responsibilities of a leader and differences in social strata. Monarchy feuds in the text tell of the position of a king who is very vulnerable by personal interests even from those closest to him.

Abstract

This study aims to describe data that includes a musty attitude, judgment, and appreciation of the assessment system on the speeches of Indonesian Language and Literature students Class of 2018 who have participated in internship practices. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The results of research on student speech found affective attitudes, judgments, and appreciation in the form of positive and negative speech. The results of the study were dominated by negative affect caused by the policies set on the implementation of the internship. on the attitude of judgment leads to the form of politeness in the respondent's language in policies that are motivated by the academic environment and announcing the existence of a pandemic. As well as a positive appreciation of gratitude for the benefits obtained by respondents during internships.
