Abstract

To date, there are few studies about the properties of walnut brown seed coat. The antioxidant activity and properties of walnut brown seed coat was considered in this study and the amounts of carotenoids, chlorophylla, chlorophyllb, vitamin E were determined. The antioxidant activity was determined by cupric assay, DPPH, and measurement of oxidative stability in sunflower oil against Copper sulfate. Walnut brown seed coat at 1% was effective antioxidant in comparison to BHT in inhibition of lipid peroxidation. This extract presented the highest vitamin E level (1.4± 0.042 mg/g). DPPH assay showed the extract had the high radical scavenging ability. The results of this study showed the walnut brown seed coat possessed strong antioxidant properties in vitro, hence it might be beneficial in human health. Abstract

One type of the liver poisoning is poisoning with carbon tetrachloride. Carbon tetrachloride-induced liver damage is related to the toxic agent which is metabolized by the NADPH-cytochrome P450 enzyme system to reactive radicals including trikler and methyl- o- proxyler. One of the available remedies to protect liver is the use of medicinal plants. Since in Iran liver protective drugs are less available, then the use of available natural remedies that have fewer toxic side effects than chemical drugs seems necessary. In the present study, medicinal plants native to Iran have been reviewed and reported which have liver protective effect against toxicity induced by carbon tetrachloride as a factor causing human poisoning. In this review study, literatures were searched with key words including liver toxicity, carbon tetrachloride, herbs, extracts, and essential oils. The papers were searched from databases inside and outside Iran including Google Scholar, SID, MegaIran databases, and a number of other databases. Based on the results, medicinal herbs such as grape, oak, Aucheri, pistachio, Fumaria, and milk thistle are anti-poisoning plamts against carbon tetrachloride. Since the active ingredients of the mentioned plants have been specified in the phytochemical studies, then catechin, epi-catechins, epi-3-gallate catechin, mucilage, calheritrin, fumaric acid and an alkaloid called fumarinkoerist, and nitrose amine are probably the active ingredients against carbon tetrachloride poisoning. Keywords: liver, Poisoning, Carbon tetrachloride, Herbs, Iran

Abstract

Acetaminophen is an analgesic and anti- fever drug, which can be toxic in high doses and leads to hepatic and renal injury. Acetaminophen poisoning can cause many complications and injuries in the body including vomiting, diarrhea, malaise, shock, jaundice, and liver failure and in some cases will lead to myocardial and kidney damage. Against all toxic and destructive effects of drugs like acetaminophen, some compounds are found that can partially restrain poisoning of abuse such compounds. In this review article, medicinal plants native to Iran have been reported, which are used to protect acetaminophen toxicity. In this review study, searching the articles with key words such as acetaminophen, hepatotoxicity, herbs, extracts, and essential oils were used. Searching the articles was conducted through databases of income in Iran like Google Scholar, ISI January, MegaIran, and a number of other databases. Medicinal plants including green tea, turmeric, cress, dandelion, and capers are the most important medicinal plants against the toxicity of acetaminophen. It seems that pharmacological bioactive and antioxidants substances obtaining from plant and biological materials are anti- acetaminophen poisoning. Keywords: liver, Toxicity, Acetaminophen, Herbs, Iran.

Abstract

In the experiment on dogs, nails coated with hydroxyapatite were introduced intramedullary in the tibia. By using light microscopy of histological sections and scanning electron microscopy, bone marrow space around the implant was studied. It was found that an area of active apposition bone formation is formed around the nails, and bone case is formed with the properties of osteogenesis conductor and inductor, providing directional growth of bone tissue and reparative bone formation. The extent of osseointegration of intraosseous implant was determined by separation method when removing intramedullary nail a month after the surgery. Active implant osseointegration provides guaranteed diaphysis fracture healing in 2-3 weeks. Keywords:  Intramedullary osteosynthesis, Hydroxyapatite coating, Reparative bone formation, Osseointegration.

Abstract

To examine the effect of replacing time of different levels of restaurant rice waste with barely on blood parameters and liver enzymes in Lori fattened lambs was used forty heads of male lamb of strain of Lori with an average weight of 25 kg, randomly divided into 5 groups. Energy and protein diets were identical and determined based on 80% concentrate and 20% forage. Restaurant rice waste at a ratio of zero, 25 percent, 50 percent, 75 percent and 100 percent was replaced by barley in diets of lambs. Feed and water were Fed freely to livestock. Lambs adaptation period to the experimental diets for 15 days and fattening period for 75 days was considered. On the days 30, 60 and 90 of test were performed sampling through the jugular vein in the neck of lambs, and hematological parameters including glucose, cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL, LDL, VLDL and liver enzymes including alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase and alkaline phosphatase were measured. The results showed that the concentration of triglyceride and VLDL in blood serum and liver enzymes of alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase and alkaline phosphatase were significantly affected by different treatments (p<0.05). But treatments had no significant impact on the concentration of HDL, LDL, glucose and cholesterol in blood serum and liver enzyme of alkaline phosphatase in fattened lambs (p>0.05). Sampling time had no significant effect on the concentration of triglyceride and VLDL in blood serum and liver enzyme of alkaline phosphatase in fattened lambs (p>0.05), but made significant changes in the concentration of HDL, LDL, glucose and cholesterol in blood serum and liver enzymes of alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase in fattened lambs (p<0.05). Generally, the results showed that can use restaurant waste rice in diet of fattened lambs, without having harmful effects. Keywords: Rice waste, Hematological/blood parameters, Liver enzymes, Fattened lambs.
