Abstract

Staphylococci known to form biofilm on various clinical and biomaterials, so increase resistance to antimicrobial agents through biofilm formation strategy. The intracellular adhesion had been required for biofilm formation by Staphylococci. In this research, the main goal was detecting the biofilm formation capability regarding Staphylococcus sp. isolates on 96-well microtiter plates, also studying the impact of surfactants solutions extracted from Lactobacillus acidophilus in biofilm formed through Staphylococcus sp. Seventy-four Staphylococci isolates had be utilized in this research, the solid biofilm forming capacity had be confirmed through incubating these isolates in microtiter plates for 48 hours and at a temperature of 37Celsius. Afterward, during the next 24-48 hours, observations have made over removing the established biofilms of Staphylococci isolates with surfactants solution. The results hinted at the elimination of these biofilms in surfactants concentration-dependent way, with an observation that after 48 hours of incubation, the biofilm biomass reduction had been considerably greater.Keywords: Lactobacillus; Surfactants; Biofilm; Adhesion; Staphylococci.

Abstract

A new three spectrophotometric methods are developed for determination of cefdinir. The first method including conversion the of amine functional group in cefdinir to diazonium ion followed by reaction with reagent Bisphenol A in alkaline medium. Produced azo dye has a Reddish- Orange with absorption intensity at λmax 495 nm. The concentration ranges 1-50 μg/ mL, Beer's law is obeyed, correlation coefficient was 0.9996, molar absorptivity was 0.613×104L.mol-1.cm-1 and the detection limit was 0.194 μg/mL. The Second method was cloud point extraction (CPE) of a trace amount in aqueous solution that product of diazotization followed by measuring with a UV-visible spectrophotometer at λmax 505, purple color. The concentration range obeyed the Beer's law was 0.25-6 μg / mL, correlation coefficient was 0.9995, molar absorptivity was 0.727×105L.mol-1.cm-1, detection limit was 0.036 μg/mL, Pre-concentration factor was 25 and Distribution coefficient(D) was 394.13. Flow injection analysis third methods it is simple for setimation the cefdinir based on the measurement of absorption signal for product resulting from diazotization, all experimental parameters chemical and physical were studied to development and stability the colored of product. Flow injection of 1.5mL/min was pumped and active material was detecting at λ max 495nm. In this the proposed methods were successfully, applied to the estimation Cefdinir in pharmaceutical formulation. Abstract

Background: There are insufficient researchers studied serum uric acid (SUA) concentrations in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI or MI) at time of admission. We undertook the contemporary work to evaluate the value of SUA levels in admitted AMI subjects. Materials and methods:  The study subjects consist of 260 people divided in two groups, 100 age and sex matched healthy controls with 160 patients with AMI (28-80 years) diagnosed by clinical, laboratory findings, and echocardiography. Study populations were stratified according to their levels of SUA at their first 6-12 hours of admission, into three tertiles: first (<5 mg/dl), second (5-6 mg/dl) and the third (>6.3 mg/dl). The concentrations of the three serum UA tertiles were studied for their association with AMI patients. Research biochemical evaluations were directed using conventional techniques. An accepted level of significance was P < 0.05.  Results: For all study subjects, the mean age was 50.5±13.5 years. The ratio of men to women was 3.5:1 and there were no statistically substantial variations amongst the groups as regards the age and gender. The higher tertiles where positively correlated with increasing ages of individuals. The most common risk factors for all subjects of the study were hypertension (56%), then smoking (55%), then diabetes mellitus (26%). The mean serum concentrations of UA were higher significantly in those with AMI (5.96 ±1.8) than in control group (4.39 ± 1.3 mg/dl; P=0.05). Those with AMI has higher odds ratio (6.3, 95% CI: 2.26-17.6) than control group for the presence of highest Vis lowest SUA tertiles. Once several confounders (age, sex, diabetes mellitus, and hypertension) are being adjusted, the hazard ratios for developing AMI continue to be significant in the second and third tertiles of SUA. Conclusion: The outcomes of the study displayed that higher SUA concentrations are correlated with the incidence of AMI in admitted patients. High SUA levels independently can be considered as unconventional risk factor for the incidence of AMI.  Key words: Acute myocardial infarction, Uric acid and hyperuricemia.

Abstract

The compound [K1] was synthesized from the reaction of dichloromethane with linear alkyl benzene (Lab9) using ethanol as a solvent, and from(chloro methyl)-4-nonylbenzene) [K1] it was possible to synthesize the compound Z(4-(nonan-3-yl)phenyl) methane amine) [K2] containing the amine group by synthesized from [K2] reaction with appropriate phenolic aldehydes and using Ethanol as a solvent in the preparation of vinyl chloride4-(((4-nonylbenzyl)imino)methyl)phenol-4-(((4-nonylbenzyl)imino methyl)benzene-1,3diol) [K3-K4] bases has been used. Preparation of a number of Phenolic polymers4-(2-hydroxy-3.5-dimethylbenzyl)-2-methyl-6-(((4-4-(2hyroxy-3, 5-dimethylbenzyl)-2-methyl-6(((4 nonylbenzyl) imino) methyl) benzene-phenolnonylbenzyl) imino) methylbenzene-1,3iol [K5-K6] has been used from the reaction of K3-K4 with phenol formaldehyde. The analytical capacity of chelating resins prepared using the meal supply method for some of the transition element ions (Co+2, Fe+3, Cu+2) can be studied. The loading range for resins can be determined and the effect of the treatment time and pH is determined, with the temperature and concentration of the ions under study and the amount of resin this study shows that the loading capacity of resins increases as the processing time and pH increases. The compounds synthesized above in this study were identified by infrared spectroscopy (IR), H-NMR (1), and mass thermodynamic analysis (TG, DTG).Keyword: Phenolic Schiff base derivative, Polymer, Chloromethane, Aldehydes Phenolic.

Abstract

Objectives: The aim of this study is to elucidate the effect  of  Activin A, Fibrillin-3, and Follistatin hormones on the oocytes  number and quality ,embryonic development, and pregnancy  rate (PR) following intra cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) cycle. Subject, Materials and Methods: Two hundred women undergoing ICSI treatment were chosen randomly. Controlled ovarian stimulation was done with two different protocols. Measurements of Activin A (pg/ml), Fibrillin-3 (ng/ml) and Follistatin (ng/ml) were assessed in serum and follicular fluid on the day of ovum pick up. Intra cytoplasmic sperm injection was performed and the oocyte and embryonic development were evaluated and determined in relation to the levels of these hormones. Results: There was a significant difference between number of MII oocytes and high quality embryos (G1) in pregnant women than that of non-pregnant women. The follistatin follicular fluid (FF) is the only hormone level which has a significant relation with total oocytes and good MII oocytes. Both the mid-cycle level in serum and follicular fluid of activin-A show a negative correlation of around -0.2 with the total number of embryos and the number of G1 embryos. For both Activin A and Fibrillin-3, there was a high or relatively high correlation within the pregnant subject and low till very low correlation in the non-pregnant subjects, independent of the stimulation protocol. Conclusions: The Follistatin FF has a significant correlation with good MII oocytes that could be used as a predictor for successful ICSI outcome.Keywords: Activin A, Follistatin, Fibrillin-3, ICSI, Controlled ovarian stimulation, Metaphase II oocytes, Embryos.

Abstract

In the present work a new schiff  base ligand was prepared by reaction of 6-amino penicillinic acid with 5-chlorosalicyldehde. The new ligand was characterized by using various techniques UV/ Visible, FT IR , Mass spectral ,1H NMR, and 13C NMR , It was also preparing four new complexes by interaction of ligand with transition metals ions ( Fe2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+ ) and characterized by UV/ Visible, FT IR, Magnetic moment and  molar conductance. Ligand shows tridentate   behavior demonstrated by the presence of three effective groups and complexes have taken octahedral form. The biological effectiveness was measured  for ligand and coordination complexes  against two types of bacteria ( Staphyllococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa ) showed good effectiveness.Keyword: β-Lactam, Schiff base, 6.Amino Penicillinic, and tridentate ligand.

Abstract

ZnO was modified with ternary composites Ag:ZnO/GOto enhance the interaction/reaction activities by simple evaporation/ photo-deposition of Graphite oxide and Silver respectively. The ternary composites were characterized by analysis the structure or morphology with X-ray diffraction, UV-visible diffraction to find band gap and surface area SBET. The process include change in sequence of preparations which tested by removing Eosin yellow by adsorption and photocatalytic degradation. The results shows that ZnO after modifications was more active then pristine phase and Ag :(ZnO/GO) was more activities then (Ag:ZnO)/GO in photo-reaction but less abilities in adsorption.Keywords:  Eosin Yellow, Ternary composites, Ag: ZnO/GO, Degradation.

Abstract

Chitosan has a wide range of potential applications in food science. It’s one of the best edible and biologically safe preservative coatings for different types of foods owing to its biochemical and biodegradable property, non toxicity, film-forming, antimicrobial action. Curcumin is one of the few promising natural products with a variety of therapeutic effects. Our present research demonstrated a new edible coating formula by combining chitosan 1.5% with different curcumin concentration (0.01%, 0.02%, 0.03%, 0. 04 %). This research was conducted from 2018 to 2019 in the scientific laboratory of Mekong  University. Results revealed that the chitosan-based coating layers (1.5 %) emdeded with curcumin (0.03%) could maintain the shrimp quality in glazing of cooked frozen shrimp as well as coating of dry-salted shrimp during storage. Curcumin played an important role as antioxidant in making chitosan-based film. Nontoxic, non-pollution biodegradability, surface barrier, biocompatibility, and edibility are some benefits of edible curcumin-chitosan-based coatings over plastic bags. It has been shown that it’s significantly improved the quality and increased the shelf-life of shrimp product. The improvement in the product quality is achieved through inactivation of microbial growth, reduction of lipid oxidation and enhancement of sensory characteristic.Keywords: Shrimp, Curcumin, Chitosan, Coating, Shelf-life, Lipid Oxidation, Microbial growth, Sensory characteristic.

Abstract

Background: The prevalence of Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)   has been raised in Iraq. The medical costs of such increased prevalence are high. Global studies have revealed polymorphisms of MTHFR (Methylenetetrahydrofolate Reductase) gene to be associated with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). This polymorphism can cause changes in various metabolic variables. Methods: The current study consists of 100 RA patients and 100 healthy control individuals. Variable parameters data included Anti-Cyclic cytrulinated peptide expression (ACCP), Rheumatoid factor (RF), C - reactive protein (CRP) in serum and Erythrocytes sedimentation rate (ESR) levels. Genotyping of MTHFR gene polymorphism is carried out by RFLP-PCR. Various statistical analyses were applied to analyze the data. Results: The estimation of immunological and biochemical data pointed out significant differences in Gender, RF, ACCP, CRP, ESR and age in RA when compared with those of the control group. The genotyping results were found to be consistent with Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. The analysis of the genotype distribution under various inheritance models highlighted significant differences in SNP of MTHFR gene polymorphism among RA patients when compared with the control group under the dominant homozygote, heterozygote and recessive homozygote. The genotype and allele frequencies of the MTHFR SNP rs1801133; highlighted significant rises of the risk of RA CT (P =0.0335), (OR=1.9409), (95%CI 1.0532-3.5766) when compared with control subjects. We found that the CT genotype is associ­ated with the risk of RA comparing with CC and TT genotypes. Clinical characteristics were observed to change significantly with respect to the genotype distribution (risk factors) of the investigated SNP. Conclusion: MTHFR gene polymorphism (rs1801133) is implicated in the pathogenesis of Rheumatoid arthritis in Najaf population.Keywords: Rheumatoid arthritis, MTHFR, Rs1801133, RFLP-PCR, ACCP, CRP, RF.

Abstract

The quantitative determination of lysine (Lys) and glycine ( Gly) in their complexes salts with aspirin was achieved using a modified version of the Generalized standard addition method ( GSAM)   that  aimed at the validation and standardization of analytical procedures with direct solid sample contain two types of amino acids without previous isolation. It was intended to separate aspirin quantitatively from them before determination by titration. It was intended to use spectrophotometry or titrimetric for determination of lysine and glycine. According to this method, two linear equations were solved to obtain the amounts of (Lys) and (Gly) by using two different wavelengths using  ninhydrin  as a color developing reagent in the spectrophotometric procedure, as it is the most selective among other coloring agent for spectrophotometric determination for amino acids. The high accuracy and precision of the results indicate that this method is simple, fast, precise and suitable to be used as a quality control procedure for analysis of commercial product (aspegic).Keywords: Aspirin, glacial acetic acid, glycine (as aspirin amino acid salt), Hydrochloric acid, lysine (as aspirin amino acid salt), ninhydrin,  perchloric acid, UV spectrophotometer.
