Abstract

In the current study, it has been identified that white oleander is impossible or difficult-to-root (0.00%) while, pink oleander is slightly difficult -to-root cuttings (6.67 %) in absence of supplied auxin (treated with distilled water). However, to improve the capability of rooting response of white oleander cuttings (difficult-to-root variety), six treatments have been employed including identified (e.g. o-coumaric acid) and un-identified co-factors (e.g. whitetope seeds extract), individually and in combination with IBA and the results revealed the followings:-Some of these treatments were at high level of significance (P0.05), verifying an original  successful and economical acceptance by vegetative propagation of difficult-to-root cuttings (white oleander) that  caused (induced) to root and increased vegetative traits, when supplied individually or in combination with  IBA, the highest values are represented in the following treatments:-O-Coumaric acid  in combination with  IBA  was induced  rooting  percentage (33.33%), average roots no.(23.67), chlorophyll content (28.03 SPAD unit) and length of branches (15.00 cm)  Whitetope seeds extract in combination with IBA, induced rooting response (20%), roots no. (28.60)/cutting, leaves no. (39.30) and leaf surface area (15.80) cm2  IBA, Whitetope seeds extract, were induced rooting percentage (6.67%).   As a comparison with pink oleander, all treatments that have been tested were stimulated rooting  when supplied in combination  with   IBA , at a rate higher than white  oleander except d/H2O, o- Coumaric acid  and whitetope extract treatments, where the response is zero. However, the maximum response in rooting % was found with combination between IBA and o- Coumaric acid followed by IBA+whitetope extract (33.33%). However, the discussion was focused on a)phenolic compounds as auxin protectors from destruction by IAA-O enzyme  b) o-coumaric acid as anti-oxidant by activation of electronic conjugation c) plant extracts containing substances considered as precursor for its conversion into non enzymetic anti-oxidant such as GSH, proline. etc and its role in AsA-GSH cycle, or substances that enhances CAT, SOD enzymes that activates the anti-oxidant defense mechanisms and consequently enhances rooting response.Keywords:- Anti-oxidants, Co-factor, Difficult-to-root cuttings, IAA-O, IBA, Improvement of rooting response, Inhibitors, Nerium Oleandr, o-Coumaric acid and whitetope  seeds extract.
Immune Response Induced by Pure and Physical Detoxified S.aureus hemolysin Loaded on Calcium Phosphate Nanoparticles Mohamad J. Khadum

Abstract

Α-hemolysin is one of the virulence factors that cause damage of RBC membranes. In the present study, S. aureus hemolysin was used as a model of toxin. Pathogenic strain of S. aureus, isolated from patient wounds, was used to produce α-hemolysin in tryptic soy broth medium. After 40 hrs of S. aureus growth, the supernatant was precipitated with 75% ammonium sulphate before purification by DEAE- cellulose and sephacryl-S200 chromatography. Detoxification of pure hemolysin by different temperature and two types of UV light had been achieved. Furthermore, calcium phosphate nanoparticles (CAP NPs) was prepared and used, as nanoadjuvant, to carry detoxified hemolysin. Scanning electron microscope (SEM), UV-VIS spectrophotometer, Zeta potential and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to characterize CAP and CAP/hemolysin complex. The CAP NPs appeared spherical in shape with diameter average 36-67nm, while, zeta potential of CAP NPs was -34.47 mV.  The XRD patterns revealed the combination of CAP NPs with detoxified hemolysin and lost crystalline structure of CAP. Moreover, the combination was used to induce T-lymphocyte transformation and cytokines secretion in vitro. Lymphocyte proliferation with0.7 µg/ml of detoxified hemolysin increased proliferation 4.5 fold compared to negative control. On the other hand, 1.4 μg/ml of detoxified hemolysin stimulate the cytokines production of IL-1β and IL-6 to 16.4 and 18 pg/ml, respectively.Keywords: Immune response, Detoxification, Hemolysin, Calcium phosphate, Nanoparticles.

Abstract

The formation of a novel bidentate Schiff-base seleno-ligand (HL) and its metal complexes are reported. The title ligand (E)-2-((R)-2-((R)-(4-(dimethylamino)phenyl)((3-nitrophenyl)amino)- methyl)cyclohexylidene)hydrazine-1-carboselenoamide (HL) was prepared from the reaction of 2-((4-(dimethylamino) phenyl) ((3-nitrophenyl)amino) methyl) cyclohexan-1one with KSeCN and NH2NH2 in a 1:1:3 mole ratio using a mixture of CHCl3:EtOH (1:3) as a medium. The reaction of the ligand with Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) metal ions in a 2:1 (L:M) mole ratio resulted in the isolation of new selenosemicarbazone complexes of general formula K2[ML2Cl2] and [M`L2], (M= Mn(II), Co(II) and Ni(II); M`= Cu, Zn and Cd). A range of physico-chemical methods were used to predict the geometry of complexes. These analyses indicated the formation of octahedral, square planar and tetrahedral geometry about (Mn(II), Co(II) and Ni(II)), Cu(II) and (Zn(II), Cd(II)) ions, respectively. The thermal analysis of the ligand and some metal complexes were investigated to check the stability of tested compounds. Biological activity of the ligand (HL) and its metal complexes against Gram negative bacterial strains; E. coli, B. sabtuius and K. Pneumoniae and Gram positive species; St. aureus were studied. The compounds displayed various activity towards tested bacteria. Further, selenosemicarbazone compounds were examined against four fungus species (Candida albicans, Candida glabrata, Candida tropicalis and Candida parapsilsis). More, the tested compounds showed activity towards all four fungus species (except Co(II)-complex that showed no activity against Candida tropicalis).Keywords: Selenosemicarbazone ligand; Metal complexes; Structural study; Biological activity.

Abstract

Grape (Vitis vinifera) is a member of vitaceae family. The seeds are rich in polyphenols and phenolic acids that are not only safe to be consumed, but also recognized to produce several and meaningful health benefits. We aimed here to investigate the memory and learning processes (spatial memory) activity of the ethanolic extract of the grape seeds by using Morris Water Maze (MWM) test in laboratory mice. The present study revealed that the administration of ethanolic extract of Vitis vinifera (50 mg/kg, IP for 3 days) showed significant reduction to the escape latency using the MWM especially in the 4th and 5th day of experiment when the results were compared to the control group.  Conclusion: grape seed extract may behave as a memory stimulant that opens doors to use it medically as a supportive therapy in case of impaired memory functions.Keywords: Vitis vinifera, Spatial memory, Morris Water Maze.

Abstract

A new simple, rapid and sensitive spectrophotometric method has been develop to determine mercury (ІІ) ions by using Michlerۥs thioketone reagent (Ligand) to formed a dark blue complex at ( pH=7), The complex was found to be with stability for(120 min)at the given pH , The complex formed in this method give obeys Beer’s law over the concentration  range (1.473x10-5 M–10.313x10-5M) with a detection limit of (5.235x10 -7 M)and molar absorptivity (0.339x104 L mol-1cm-1) ,The Stoichiometry of the complex was confirmed by using(Mole Ratio method &Molard method) the two methods using indicated the ratio of reagent to metal is 1:1,The effect of the presence of different cations and anions as interference in the determination of mercury (ІІ) under the given condition were investigated, The mercury complex formed has been characterize by UV- visible ray , Precision and accuracy of the new method has been study by terms of  Relative standard deviations  (RSD%), and analytical error.Keywords: Michler’sthioketon Reagent, Stoichometry, Absorptivity.

Abstract

Cancer therapy and radiotherapy guide to many oral structures disorders consisting of: Harmful feeling, nutrient deficiency due to inability to eat, which increased the infection consequences. The performing study tended to point the protozoa’s frequents Entamoeb gingivalis (E. givg.) and Trichomma Tenax (T.ten.)  In patients associated with various oral and maxilla facial pathogeneses regions with or without cancer therapy or radiotherapy, and their correlations with the sex, age of those patients and individuals and how to early control upon these parasitic consequences infections in such patients have these disorders. This study collecting in 205 (100%) individuals, 150 (73.17%) patients with various oral disorders (84 males and 66 females) and 55 (26.82%) UN diseased persons (25 males and 30 females).The two groups range between 15-85 years attended to oral maxillofacial surgery department, in AL Gazy AL Hariri Hospital For Surgical Specialties with various oral cavity disorders and their oral hygiene ranged between gingival, periodontium and oral tissues disorders, most of them under or after cancer chemo therapeutics and radio therapeutic treatment periods or may not receiving yet.  Swabs samples were collected by scraping various margins from inside of mouth contain. All samples were held in sterile slides with normal saliva taken to the laboratory of the same hospitals in order to examine and seen under light microscope. Statistically the various clinical cases of oral problems are displayed in this study highly significant in correlation between oral disorders and the frequency of parasites, Improving patients awareness of importance of dental and oral hygiene health before, during and after cancer therapeutic treatment, achieved by making proper oral hygiene instructions programs and minimized the oral disorders complications and their consequence.

Abstract

The main concept of this work is to analyze the illegal amphetamine drug by Raman spectroscopy. The samples of amphetamine were obtained from the drug control office in Iraq. Two different forms of amphetamine samples (a full tablet 167mg, and powder167mg) were chosen to investigate the sensitivity of Raman spectroscopy. The spectral of the two samples show no difference, and the amount of material does not constitute an obstacle in the way of measurements. The Raman shift spectrum of two forms has been reported in the region 2969.2 cm-1 for the powder form and 3009 cm-1 for the tablet form.Keywords: Raman spectroscopy, Amphetamine, Drugs.

Abstract

Two clarithromycin electrodes were constructed using clarithromycin-methyl orange as an ion pair complex in a Polyvinyl-chloride (PVC) matrix. These electrodes were plasticized using two plasticizers, Acetophenone (AP) and Di-butyl phosphate (DBP).Clarithromycin electrodes, a and b, gave slopes of 53.95 and 51.50mV/decade, and linear which ranged from (10-4-10-1, and 6×10-4-10-1 M) respectively. Electrode (a) relied on using a plasticizer (DBP) of a slope 53.95mV/decade, and a correlation coefficient 0.9996, with a detection limit of 5x10-5M in a lifetime of 26 days. The proposed electrode showed reproducibility and a good stability. It was therefore employed for determining clarithromycin within pharmaceutical samples. The measurements of interferences in the availability of (Na+, Cu+2, K+, Mn+2, Al+3, Fe+3, gelatin and sucrose) were also studied for selectivity coefficient determination using the separation method and the mixed method.Keywords: Clarithromycin, Methyl orange, Ion selective electrode.

Abstract

Schiff base of chitosan with Para-Dimethyl aminobenzaldehyde /PVA-Ag Nanocomposite have been prepared as antimicrobial polymer. The prepared chitosan Schiff base and chitosan Schiff base / PVA-Ag nanocomposite were characterized by FT-IR, SEM analysis and biological activity. Abstract

A new series of  some transition metal  ion (Cr  (III), Co (III), Fe (III) and Ni (II) complexes of new ligand {5, 5'- (4H-1, 2, 4-triazole- 3,5-diyl)bis(azaneylylidene))bis(methaneylylidene)) bis(4,1- phenylene)bis(methaneylylidene)) bis (azaneylylidene)) bis(4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-amine}(L) were  synthesized .A ligand was synthesized by reaction 2,5-di amino-1,2,4-triazole  and  two mole for Terephthalaldehyde in presence of ethanol and drops for acetic acid  to give 4,4'-((1Z,1Z')-((4H-1,2,4-Triazole-3,5,-diyl)bis(azaneylylidene))bis(methanelidene))dibenzaldehyde. Followed by reaction with two mole for 2, 5-diamino-1, 2, 4-triazole to give (L). The newly synthesized compounds were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy(1H NMR), elemental analyses (C, H, N), Mass Spectra data, magnetic susceptibility data, Molar electrical conductivity and atomic absorption. The Hyperchem 0.75 program have been used to draw the ligand geometry optimization and then study the electrostatic potential that given right data about the active site. It has been shown through all the above diagnostic measures that ligand is formed with the (Fe, Co and Cr) ions tetrahedral complexes and with the nickel formed square planer complex, Electrical insulation properties were studied for L and their complexes with (Fe, Co and Cr) , The measured electrical conductivity results are measured at room temperature with the applicable field frequency, Note when frequency increase the applied field of (50 Hz -1MHz) Connectivity increases due to the direct relationship between frequency and electrical conductivity. During the study, both ligands and their complexes were I2-doping showed that iodine increased the conductivity of Ligand, reduced the conductivity of complexes.Keyword: 1, 2, 4-Triazole, Terephthalaldehyde.
