Abstract

In this work a series of new 2, 4, 5-triphenyl imidazole derivatives were synthesized. In the beginning, compound [1] was formed from the reaction of benzoin and benzaldehyde in the presence of ammonia, which was reacted with sodium hydride in DMF to obtain imidazole salt. This salt was reacted with adipoyl chloride to give compound [2]. Acid hydrazide derivative [3] was obtained from the reaction of compound [2] with hydrazine hydrate. After that Shiff bases [4-9] have been synthesized from the reaction of compound [3] with different aromatic aldehydes. These new formed compounds were diagnosed by 13C-NMR, 1H-NMR for some of them (in Ahl-Albate University in Jordan) and FT-IR spectroscopy (In Baghdad University). All of the prepared products have been studied their biological activities toward two kinds of bacteria. These products showed good efficacy to moderate toward bacteria. Keywords: Imidazole, Shiffs bases, Biological activity.

Abstract

Objective: Hypertension appears to have a complex association with endothelial dysfunction. One of herbs that potential to develop as anti hypertension is Thymus vulgaris which contains high concentrations of phenols, including thymol and carvacrol that offer protection from hypertension. This study aimed to prove the correlation between different concentration of Thymus vulgaris extract and response of aortic ring relaxation. Methods: Using a laboratory experiment (in vitro study), treatment with provision doses of Thymus vulgaris extract was conducted to guinea pig (aorta ring) after pre-contracted by phenylephrine (PE). Thymus vulgaris extract (TM) at the doses of 0.0625, 0.125, 0.25, 0.5 and 1% were administered to experimental groups including 5 doses of extract with intact aorta rings and 5 doses of extract with denuded aorta rings. Pearson correlation test and T-test were used to analyzed the data. Results: The results indicate that administration of Thymus vulgaris extract can decrease the contraction of aorta guinea pig. Different doses of Thymus vulgaris extract have different relaxation responses of smooth muscle cell in aortic rings of guinea pig. The lower concentrations doses of Thymus vulgaris extract (0.0625% and 0.125%) can cause an effective and better relaxation effect on contraction of smooth muscle in denuded aorta than in intact aorta. Conclusion: The higher concentrations doses of Thymus vulgaris extract (0.025%, 0.5% and 1%) can increase the contraction of smooth muscle for both intact and denuded aorta of guinea pig. Keywords: Thymus vulgaris, intact aorta rings, denuded aorta rings, phenylephrine

Abstract

In this study, the poly (styrene-co-Methyl metha acrylo hydroxamic acid) was prepared from the poly(styrene-co-methyl metha acrylate) which  prepared  by free radical polymerization using the benzoyl peroxide initiator to  co- polymerization between (methyl metha acrylate) and (styrene) at atemperrature 70 ⁰C a mixing ratio (1:1) a conversion rate 20% and then conversion the polymer output to poly (hydroxamic acid) by reacting with hydroxyl amine hydrochloride in a strong base medium using potassium hydroxide with thermal escalation for 48 hours. The resulting poly (hydroxamic acid) and poly (styrene-co-Methyl metha acrylate) were identified by the FT-IR spectra. An adsorption study of heavy metal ions such as Fe3+, Cu2+, Co2+and pb2+ by poly (hydroxamic acid) was done. The effects of time, temperature and an acid function on adsorption ions were also studied. Calculation of desorption temperature of the metallic ions at two thermal degrees 10, 20 ⁰C shows that adsorption is chemical type. Keywords: Hydroxamic acid, Poly Hydroxamic acid, heavy metals, Adsorption.

Abstract

A thin film of Nickel-phthalocyanine has been deposited with a thickness of 250 nm on glass, prepared by thermal evaporation using the Edward E306A coating at room temperature Rt. The high vacuum pressure during evaporation was about 10-5 m bar. The distance between the boat and the substrate was fixed at 20 cm. at the evaporation method, where the study of spectral behavior and optical properties of thin films of Nickel phthalocyanine (NiPc) by irradiation with ultraviolet (UV) at different times 0,10,20,40 and 80 min respectively, where we noticed that an increase of irradiation time leads to an increase absorbance and decrease the energy band gap. The absorption spectra recorded in the range of 190-1100 nm wavelengths showed the existence of two absorption bands, Soret or B-band and Q-band. The UV-Vis spectra showed that thin films deposited on same substrate types have directly energy-gap. The energy gap values of the prepared thin films were calculated from Tauc equation. Keywords: Thin film, Metal, Nickel phthalocyanine, Energy gap, Thermal evaporation.

Abstract

The study examined the use of single and mixed probiotic isolates for the possibility of prolonging the preservation duration of meatballs in refrigeration. Chemical tests were conducted (free fatty acids, TBA and pH), sensory tests (color, flavor, juicy, tenderness and general acceptance), noting that the control sample was excluded from the experiment on the tenth day of conservation because the pH value exceeded the limit and according to the standard specifications. Samples of treatments with single and mixed probiotic isolates reached the allowable limits on the 11thday. A significant decrease in TBA and free fatty acid was observed in the single and mixed probiotic isolates compared with the control treatment during the preservation period. It was observed during the preservation period that the control sample was excluded from the experiment on the seventh day of preservation because the numbers of total bacteria and psychrophilic bacteria exceeded the permissible limits according to the standard specifications. The results of sensory evaluation showed a significant superiority of the probiotic isolates treated meat samples compared to the control sample, which improved all the sensory characteristics (color, flavor, juicy, tenderness and general acceptance). The highest of the sensory evaluation were in the mixed probiotic isolates treatments. Keywords: Probiotics, Organoleptic, Beef burger.
