Abstract

Abstract:Introduction: Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA) is a complex metabolic state characterized by hyperglycaemia, ketonemia and acidosis. It oocurs as a complication of diabetes that results in accumulation of ketone bodies and acidosis in large quantities in the blood. It occurs as a result of a complication of Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM) and rarely in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) in children and adult.Presentation of the case: A 10 year old female child had the complaint of polyuria and polydipsia and within 2 weeks her weight has reduced to 10 kg; she also had itching, burning sensation during micturition and history of vomiting 2 episodes. She was diagnosed as T1DM with DKA and was treated with Intravenous Fluids, cefotaxime, ranitidine and insulin. She was re-admitted with complaints of fever, cough, headache and vomiting for which she was managed symptomatically and discharged. Conclusion: DKA is found to be common; hence early diagnosis and proper education and public awareness should be initiated.Key Words: Diabetic Ketoacidosis, Children, Polydipsia, Polyuria, Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus

Abstract

Solid lipid nanoparticles (SLN’s) or lipid nano particles is typically sphere-shaped, with an average diameter of 1nm to 1000nm.  They are alternative carrier systems to tradition colloidal carriers, such as, emulsions, liposomes, and polymeric micro and nanoparticles. The main aim of the current research work is to prepare and optimize the Felbamate loaded solid lipid nanoparticles using by placket and burman design of experiments. SLN’s were prepared by microemulsion technique. Based on preliminary experiments and on literature, the influence of independent variable parameters selected were lipid (X1), surfactant (X2), and co-surfactant concentration(X3),aqueous phase volume(X4),magnetic stirrer rate (X5), probe sonication duration (X6), volume of beaker used for sonication (X7), volume of cold aqueous phase (X8) on the dependent variable such as average particle size (Y1) was studies. Other parameters, i.e., magnetic stirrer rate and probe sonication duration were not having a significant impact on particle size and their levels were kept constant for all the experiments. Magnetic stirrer rate has an impact on particle size and was included in the design. It was concluded from the study that the composition prepared with lipid concentration of 50 mg, surfactant concentration of 75 mg, Co-surfactant concentration of 0.75 ml, aqueous phase volume of 5 ml, magnetic stirring speed of 400 rpm, probe sonication duration 30 minutess, volume of beaker used for sonication 500 ml and volume of cold aqueous phase 30 ml has shown the smallest particle size of 165 nm

Abstract

The present study was designed to investigate analgesic activity of ethyl acetate and ethanolic extracts of Jasminum sessiliflorum. The analgesic activity was assessed by using acetic acid induced writhing method and tail immersion tests in rats. The ethyl acetate and ethanolic extracts decreased the acetic acid induced abdominal contractions and also significantly increased the reaction time of tail immersion test [1]. These results showed that the plant extracts had both central and peripheral analgesic action. The  results  suggest  that the extracts  of J.sessiliflorum possesses potent analgesic properties, which support its use in traditional medicine and suggesting that the plant should be further investigated for its pharmacological active natural products [2]

Abstract

Introduction: The lack of nursing quality indirectly can be seen in patients dissatisfactory. Today society demands service that focuses on patients need, and the correct approach will be determined by the selection of the nursing model. To increase the quality of service in nursing, require a redesigned model through implementing integrated healthcare services. Methods: This is a quasi experimental study to implement an integrated nursing model using an intervention group and a control model. A total of 154 samples were chosen using consecutive sampling technique and equally distributed to each group. T-test were used to analyze the patients satisfaction level of the nursing service. Results: The result shows in the intervention group, there were 60 people (78%) that are satisfied, while in the control group, there is only four-person (5%). The increase might be caused by the nursing that is more consistent, cooperative, and responsive. The nurse understand problem identification and actively collabore in search of solution in the integrated model. Constructive integrated structure model about responsible is essential in increasing professional nurse performance. Conclusion: In conclusion, there are significant differences; higher patient satisfaction level on the model implementing integrated model than without implementing integrated model. Keywords: Integrated model, Service Focus on Patients.
