Abstract

As much as 60% of waste in Indonesia is organic waste, one of which is onion skin waste. Onion skin is often thrown away and not reused. Based on references, shallot skin contains the hormones auxin and gibberellin, which are growth hormones that can be utilised as growth regulators. Popular scientific books on growth regulators from shallot skin extract are still minimal so it is necessary to develop this book. The purpose of this study was to describe the validity and readability of the Popular Science Book digital ZPT of shallot skin extract on the growth of green mustard. The type of research used is Educational Design Research (EDR) development research which includes preliminary research, product prototype design phase (prototyping phase), and product assessment phase by experts (assessment phase) but in this study only up to the product prototype design phase (prototyping phase). This research uses Tessmer's formative evaluation which includes self-evaluation, expert review and one to one evaluation. Validity data was taken from expert validation data as many as three experts using questionnaire instruments. one to one evaluation data to obtain book readability data was obtained from 6 people including 3 students and 3 people from the community. Data on the validity and readability of the book were analysed using Akbar's category. The results showed that the results of the validity test of popular scientific books were 79.85% with a fairly valid category and the readability test data was obtained at 88.88%, showing very good quality.

Abstract

Cognitive learning outcomes are an aspect related to the reasoning or thinking process, namely the ability and activity of the brain to develop rational abilities. Based on observation of schools in Balikpapan, students’ cognitive learning outcomes still have not achieved the minimum completion criteria (KKM). Students have difficulties in learning archaebacteria and eubacteria because the concepts are abstract. The lack of variations in learning media has made this topic more difficult to teach. This research aimed to determine the influence of Archaebacteria and Eubacteria web-based learning media on students’ cognitive learning outcomes in Balikpapan. The type of research was quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest control group design. The study population was all senior high schools in Balikpapan. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. The samples of this research were three senior high schools in Balikpapan. The subjects of this research were students of SMAN 1 Balikpapan, SMAN 2 Balikpapan, and SMA Patra Dharma Balikpapan. Data analysis technique using ANCOVA (SPSS Statistics 23). According to the research findings, the average cognitive learning score of the cognitive learning score test in the experimental class is higher than the control class, which is 72.98 67.84. The prerequisite test shows that data were normally distributed and class groups derived from a homogenous population. The hypothesis test using ANCOVA at a 0.05 significance level shows that there is an effect of applying web-based learning media on students’ cognitive learning outcomes in learning archaebacteria and eubacteria.

Abstract

This study is based on the existence of learning activities that are still affected by the Covid-19 virus where learning only relies on material delivered by teachers through learning groups without any interaction that trains collaboration and critical thinking skills of students. This study aims to determine the effect of using the project-based learning model (PjBL) on students' critical thinking skills. The research design uses a pretest-posttest control group design, the research procedure is carried out through preparation, implementation of research, and conclusion. The instruments used are essay questions and instrument sheets with indicators of critical thinking skills. The data analysis technique for the pretest-posttest results uses the t-test (independent sample t-test). The highest critical thinking ability is found in the conclusion-drawing indicator with a value of 86.80. The hypothesis test obtained a t count value of 2.48 and a t table of 1.99, which means that the use of the PjBL learning model has a significant influence on students' critical thinking skills. Based on the results of the hypothesis test, it is known that the project-based learning model (PjBL) has an effect on the critical thinking skills of students at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Bangurejo.

Abstract

The rivers in Banjarmasin are polluted due to people's behavior. Changing behavior to be more positive towards the environment can be done through environmental education that can be integrated into the high school curriculum. High school students in Banjarmasin City are very appropriate to study their attitudes, knowledge, and behavior towards the environment, especially water resources and pollution because they are considered agents of change and their changes are an important sign of long-term social change. This study aims to describe the attitudes, knowledge, and behavior of high school students in Banjarmasin towards water resources and pollution. This study used descriptive survey research. The sample in this study was 236 students selected using two-stage random sampling from a population of all high school students in Banjarmasin City, South Kalimantan. Students' knowledge about water resources and pollution was explored using tests, while students' attitudes and behaviors were explored using non-tests, all of which were analyzed descriptively quantitatively. The average score of students' knowledge about water resources and pollution reached 56%, which is included in the medium criteria. The average value of students' attitudes towards water resources and pollution reached 71% which is included in the positive criteria. The average value of student behavior towards water resources and pollution reached 67%, including medium criteria. However, it is still necessary to continuously improve the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of secondary school students to be more positive and better.

Abstract

It is important to study the basic anatomy of pollen, pistils and midribs of bougainvillea flowers to improve the quality of plant reproduction, breeding and improving varieties, as well as optimizing the use of bougainvillea as ornamental plants. Bougainvillea plants have various varieties, there are three varieties sampled in this research, namely pink paper flowers (Bougainvillea bambino baby lauren), orange paper flowers (Bougainvillea afterglow), and purple paper flowers (Bougainvillea barbara karst). This research aims to determine the anatomical structure of pollen, stigma and midrib of bougainvillea plants.  This research method uses descriptive methods. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling and sample measurement under a light microscope with 10x magnification. The results of the research show that three varieties of paper flowers, namely Bougainvillea bambino baby lauren, Bougainvillea afterglow, and Bougainvillea barbara karst, all three have pollen that allows the trichoporate type, with finger-shaped, rather slender, and elongated stigmas. then the long petals are orange, pointed or slightly curved, and layered around the original flower. Furthermore, the stigma of each flower has a color that matches the color of the sheath. This research provides a reference for bougainvillea flower variability, reproductive ecology, and genetics in context and conservation.

Abstract

AbstractThe analysis of water quality in the post-sand mining swamp of Kranjingan indicates that the aquatic environment is in relatively good condition, with a neutral to slightly alkaline pH, stable temperature, and total dissolved solids (TDS) within acceptable limits. Although slight variations were observed between stations, particularly at Station 4, which recorded the highest TDS value, the overall water conditions still support the sustainability of the aquatic ecosystem and allow for various sustainable utilizations. The study's objective is to analyze the water quality in the post-sand mining swamp of Kranjingan and evaluate the sustainability of the aquatic ecosystem in the area. This research also aims to understand the composition and abundance of phytoplankton to determine the trophic status of the ecosystem. The study results show that the composition and abundance of phytoplankton in the post-mining swamp exhibit oligotrophic characteristics, with a dominance of the Cyanophyta phylum, particularly Microcystis. The highest phytoplankton diversity was found at Station 2, while Station 4 demonstrated relatively stable abundance. These findings provide essential insights into the management and utilization of post-sand mining swamps for both ecological and economic purposes. Keywords: phytoplankton, water quality, post-sand mining swamp, Kranjingan, Jember
