Abstract

Quality control is a critical aspect of the production process to minimize non-conforming products (NG). PT. Solo Plastik Indonesia still encounters quality issues in visor products, particularly silver and jetting NG. This internship research aims to analyze visor product quality control using the Seven Quality Tools method with a descriptive quantitative approach. Data were collected through direct observation, production and NG records, and interviews with visor production operators. The analytical tools applied include checksheets, histograms, stratification, Pareto diagrams, P control charts, scatter diagrams, and cause-and effect (fishbone) diagrams strengthened by observational indicators and quantitative scoring. Pareto analysis results show that in shift 1, silver and jetting NG are the dominant NG types with a cumulative percentage of 84%, while in shift 2 the cumulative percentage reaches 81%. P control chart analysis indicates that each shift has three out-of-control points, indicating that the production process is not yet fully under statistical control. Fishbone analysis shows that the material factor has the highest score contribution at 31,25%, followed by method at 30% and machine at 22,5%, while environment and man factors contribute 8,75% and 7,5%, respectively, and the measurement factor contributes 0%. Overall, the application of Seven Quality Tools is effective in identifying dominant NG types and their main causes as a basis for quality improvement at PT. Solo Plastik Indonesia.

Abstract

In the welding of carbon steel, the cooling time from the highest temperature or peak temperature can be identified, where the cooling rate is generally represented in a welding thermal cycle. Knowledge of the welding thermal cycle greatly facilitates the understanding of the extent of differences in cooling rates at various applied peak temperatures. The thermal cycle curve can be obtained through direct testing methods, namely by measuring the temperature on the welded plate. However, this method requires extensive equipment and a high level of precision. Therefore, the author conducted an experiment to obtain the thermal cycle curve using an alternative method. This method involves heat treatment, in which the cooling process is carried out in free air (normalizing) while varying the peak temperature for each specimen. The specimens used in this study were AISI 1015 low-carbon steel, with dimensions of 100 × 20 × 20 mm for the larger specimens and 50 × 20 × 20 mm for the smaller specimens. The applied peak temperatures were 750°C, 800°C, 900°C, and 1000°C. The experimental results showed that the cooling rate obtained through the heat treatment process was inversely proportional to that of the welding process. Therefore, determining the thermal cycle using the heat treatment process is not recommended.

Abstract

Product sales in grocery stores are influenced by various factors, one of which is weather or seasonal conditions. Weather changes, such as the rainy season and the hot season, can influence consumer preferences when purchasing certain products. This study aims to analyze the effect of weather changes on sales patterns of two temperature-sensitive products: instant noodles and cold drinks. The method used was descriptive and comparative analysis based on eight weeks of weekly sales data, including heavy rain, light rain, and hot/scorching weather. The results showed that instant noodle sales increased significantly during the rainy season, with an average of 28.75 cartons per week, compared to only 13.5 cartons per week in the hot season. Conversely, cold drink sales increased sharply during the hot season, with an average of 28.25 cartons per week, compared to 11.5 cartons per week in the hot season. These findings confirm a direct relationship between weather conditions and consumer purchasing behavior and demonstrate the importance of adaptive inventory management strategies based on seasons so that grocery stores can minimize the risk of understocking or overstocking. This research also provides a basis for small business owners to make more informed and efficient procurement decisions.
