Abstract

This community service program aimed to strengthen the quality and competitiveness of local organic fertilizer in Lumajang through farmer assistance and educational activities. The main problem faced by P4S Asri Farm Kedungrejo was the high rate of farmers shifting to fertilizer products from Banyuwangi, which were considered more effective in increasing crop yields. The program involved 30 farmers from the assisted farmer group of P4S Asri Farm Kedungrejo. The activities were implemented using a participatory approach through five stages: initial survey, focus group discussion and SWOT analysis, training on improving the quality of locally based organic fertilizer production, assistance in packaging innovation and community-based promotion, and monitoring and evaluation. The results showed a 40% increase in farmers’ understanding of the advantages of local organic fertilizer based on pre-test and post-test results. Farmers’ confidence in local fertilizer also increased, followed by a rise in the use of local fertilizer from 35% to 55% within one planting season. The program also produced practical outputs, including a 30-page training module, improved product packaging, and the establishment of a farmer-based promotion team. These findings indicate that participatory and field-based assistance can strengthen farmers’ trust and encourage the gradual adoption of local organic fertilizer, thereby supporting agricultural sustainability and local farming resilience in Lumajang.

Abstract

Student MSMEs often face economic vulnerability due to intuitive and unmeasured decision-making, particularly in setting selling prices that are both competitive and profitable in a price-sensitive market. This community service program aimed to strengthen the managerial capacity and data literacy of 30 student entrepreneurs at UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi through spreadsheet-based regression analysis as an appropriate technology. The program employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach through intensive training, hands-on mentoring using participants’ actual business data, and impact evaluation. The results showed a 110.1% increase in participants’ analytical competence after the intervention. Participants were able to move from intuition-based pricing toward more systematic and data-driven pricing decisions. In addition, the program encouraged more consistent sales data recording and improved participants’ ability to evaluate pricing alternatives based on demand patterns. This program contributed not only to strengthening technical and managerial skills but also to supporting the economic independence and business sustainability of student MSMEs.

Abstract

Assessment of student learning outcomes in elementary schools is still largely conducted manually, which is time-consuming and increases teachers’ administrative workload. This condition was also found at SDN 58 Lubuklinggau, where teachers had not yet optimally used digital technology to correct students’ answer sheets. This community service program aimed to improve teachers’ knowledge and skills in conducting automatic answer corrections using the EvalBee application based on Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) technology. The program was implemented through socialization, material presentation, hands-on practice, and technical assistance involving 15 teachers. Evaluation was conducted using pretest and posttest questionnaires. The results showed an increase in teachers’ understanding and skills from 45.33% before training to 97.33% after training. Teachers were able to install the application, create answer sheets, scan students’ responses, and download the assessment results. EvalBee was also perceived to accelerate the correction process, improve assessment accuracy, and reduce teachers’ administrative workload. This program shows that practice-based training can serve as a model for strengthening teachers’ digital assessment literacy in elementary schools.

Abstract

Abstract

This community service program aimed to improve the pedagogical competence of MAN 1 Sleman teachers through training in developing Theasys-based learning media. The program involved 45 teachers and was implemented through active participation, activity-oriented, program-based, and independent learning approaches. The evaluation instrument was a questionnaire consisting of 20 items distributed across five indicators: understanding of learning media, understanding of software, understanding of Theasys features, ability to create Theasys-based learning media, and ability to integrate the media into classroom learning. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative analysis by comparing participants’ understanding before and after the training. The results showed that the average level of participants’ understanding increased from 2.4% before the training to 90.4% after the training. The highest improvement was found in the ability to create Theasys-based learning media, which increased from 2% to 98%. In addition, 92% of participants stated that the training was highly beneficial for developing learning media, and the attendance rate of ≥85% indicated active participation throughout the program. These findings suggest that Theasys-based training can support teachers in developing interactive visual learning media according to subject-specific needs.

Abstract

Lecturers play a central role in higher education through teaching, research, community service, and administrative responsibilities. These multiple roles often increase mental workload and require lecturers to adapt to organizational changes, which may affect their well-being. This community service program aims to improve lecturers’ capacity to manage work pressure, respond to organizational changes, and strengthen workplace well-being. The program involved 54 lecturers at Universitas Negeri Surabaya and employed an educational-participatory approach through a workshop on mental workload and change management. The evaluation used adapted scales of occupational well-being, perceived organizational change, and trust in colleagues, supported by pre-test and post-test measurements. The results showed positive changes across the measured indicators. Scores for self-management increased from 3.3 to 4.7, changed management from 3.4 to 4.6, and well-being from 3.5 to 4.3. In addition, participants’ understanding of the material reached an average score of 4.8 out of 5.0, with satisfaction at 4.5 and perceived importance of the program at 4.7. These findings indicate that the workshop contributed positively to improving lecturers’ readiness to manage mental workload and organizational change. The program implies that universities need to provide continuous support for lecturers’ well-being through relevant and contextual capacity-building initiatives.

Abstract

Environmental sustainability is a shared responsibility of environmental activists, academics, and communities in managing natural resources responsibly. This community engagement initiative aims to introduce a community-based approach through the Morino Office green community model so that environmental activists and communities can work together to safeguard environmental sustainability. This activity employed a participatory and needs-based approach and was carried out at Morino Office, located in Fujimi, Japan. The participants consisted of five Morino Office staff members, three academics, and ten environmental activists. The results show that Morino Office, as an environmentally friendly workspace, supports both economic and ecological functions within urban and rural communities. The Morino Office green community model integrates sustainable lifestyles, village revitalisation, community participation, and circular economy principles in mountainous areas. Therefore, this community-based approach can serve as a practical concept for strengthening environmental sustainability. The implication of this activity is that green community development can bridge urban and rural communities in protecting the environment through environmentally friendly workspaces.

Abstract

Many tofu producers in Badas Village still rely on habitual production practices and do not yet have a written standard operating procedure (SOP), which may lead to inconsistent work processes and weak quality control. This community service program aimed to improve the understanding and capacity of tofu producers in preparing a production SOP for tofu agroindustry in Badas Village, Badas District, Kediri Regency. The program was conducted from January to March 2026 with around 30 participants using a participatory approach through preparation, socialization, training, mentoring, and evaluation. The evaluation was conducted by comparing participants’ understanding scores before and after the activity as an internal program indicator, supported by field observations, discussion notes, and activity documentation. The results showed that the partners initially had no written production SOP, work stages varied among workers, and simple quality control had not been implemented systematically. Through this program, an applicable production SOP draft was developed as a shared work guideline, and participants’ understanding score increased from 60 to 85. Overall, this activity produced an applicable production SOP draft, strengthened partners’ understanding of process standardization, and provided an initial basis for improving hygiene and sanitation, production recording, and household food licensing readiness.
