Abstract

Many adolescents possess considerable potential; however, fear of failure, limited opportunities for self-expression, and inadequate access to training constrain their ability to produce culinary products with economic value. This community service program aims to enhance adolescents’ skills and self-confidence through training in the production of assorted-filled steamed buns (bakpao), a simple culinary product with notable market prospects. The training was delivered through lectures and hands-on practice. The instructional materials covered dough preparation techniques, filling variations, food hygiene, as well as strategies for packaging and marketing bakpao products. Evaluation results indicated significant improvements in participants’ knowledge, technical skills, and motovation in producing marketable bakpao. This initiative is expected to foster the development of culinary entrepreneurial among adolescents in Mangasa Subdistrict, Tamalate District, Makassar City.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of first-year students in the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the laboratory for the Basic Culinary course. The application of PPE serves as a preventive measure to reduce workplace accidents, maintain hygiene, and enhance safety awareness within vocational education environments. The implementation methods included socialization, demonstration, hands-on training, and evaluation of PPE usage among early-semester students. The results indicated an increase in students’ knowledge by 34% after the training, as well as an improvement in PPE compliance from 62% to 95%. Data analysis using a descriptive quantitative approach and direct observation demonstrated that the training was effective in strengthening work safety discipline. This activity is expected to serve as a safety-based practical learning model in culinary laboratory settings.

Abstract

Sewing courses organized by the Adhiputeri Education Foundation in Makassar have equipped 20 participants with technical skills, yet these skills are not fully supported by the ability to build a brand and promote products digitally. Limited understanding of branding concepts, visual identity, and the use of social media makes their products less competitive and mostly confined to local markets. This community service program aims to enhance participants’ knowledge and skills in designing brand identity and managing digital promotion. The method employed consists of participatory training and mentoring through interactive lectures, discussions, demonstrations, and hands-on practice in creating logos and promotional materials using Canva, followed by simulated use of social media platforms. The results indicate improved understanding of branding, the ability to design logos and digital promotional materials, and increased confidence in marketing products through online platforms. Overall, the program contributes to strengthening economic independence based on sewing skills.

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance the competencies of elementary school teachers in Makassar City in integrating Computational Thinking (CT) into instructional materials through the use of Bebras Tasks. The program was implemented through five systematic stages: socialization, training, technology application, mentoring and evaluation, and sustainability. The training covered the development of Bebras problems, preparation of lesson plans (RPP), student worksheets (LKS), and CT-based assessment rubrics aligned with the Merdeka Curriculum. The results indicate a significant improvement in teachers’ ability to design CT-oriented learning materials, along with a 22–30% increase in students’ computational thinking skills based on pretest and posttest data. In addition to producing a Bebras problem bank and a complete set of instructional tools, the program successfully established a CT working group (Pokja) to ensure long-term sustainability. Overall, this program positively contributes to improving learning quality and strengthening teachers’ professional capacity.

Abstract

Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan meningkatkan keterampilan mitra dalam memproduksi bakery steam yang sederhana, berkualitas, dan memiliki nilai jual. Kegiatan dirancang melalui kombinasi penyampaian materi dasar dan praktik langsung, meliputi pemilihan bahan, pembuatan adonan, teknik pengukusan, serta pengenalan variasi produk yang mudah diterapkan. Melalui metode ceramah, tanya jawab, dan demonstrasi, peserta mengalami peningkatan pengetahuan dan kemampuan dalam produksi bakery steam. Kegiatan ini juga menghasilkan dokumentasi foto dan video yang dipublikasikan sebagai luaran edukatif dan bentuk transparansi kegiatan. Selain itu, peserta dibekali pemahaman dasar manajemen usaha, seperti perhitungan biaya produksi, penentuan harga jual, dan strategi pemasaran sederhana melalui media sosial. Secara keseluruhan, PKM ini tidak hanya memperkuat aspek teknis produksi, tetapi juga membuka peluang bagi mitra untuk mengembangkan usaha kecil yang berkelanjutan dan bernilai ekonomis.
