Abstract

The light has been part of myths, scientific explanations, and theories of mind from the origin of mankind. In this concern to explain cosmogony detached from the gods, the ancient Greeks began to seek the foundation of primordial matter from which it derives everything that exists. In this work are explained some approaches to the study of light from the first religious traditions, some Greek authors (Plato, Democritus, and Euclid), one medieval author (Grosseteste), and the last developments in the study of light carried out in the last century. This work is shown how a physical concept as light can be understood from a wide variety of perspectives along centuries and cultures. The actual knowledge of light, based on Einstein's Relativity Theory and Quantum Physics, is also explained. At the end of this work is exposed to one reflection about how myths and rational explanations are always combined for explaining natural events, and how both paths are valuable because they have different characteristics and purposes. Both mythical and rational perspectives coexist today in our society. They have different purposes, advantages and limitations. This approach is very useful for Primary and Secondary Science students, because it helps them to know the development of a key concept of physics (light) that is still revised today.

Abstract

Character education considered one of the ways to overcome character and morality problems. Though character education has been taught for decades, character and the moral problem still happened in our society. Lots of people agree that we need to reinforce character education to improve the performance of character education. Some institutions invented some programs to help the implementation of character education. Aware of this condition, the Indonesian government also strived to improve character education by released a program called Penguatan Pendidikan Karakter (PPK), which stands for character education reinforcement. This program expected to give schools an idea of how character education should be taught in a holistic approach, thus it can help schools implied a better character education. Long before the government releases the program, some schools, mostly private schools, already planned and implemented their own character education program. This paper elaborates private school teachers’ perspectives on character education practice in their schools. This qualitative research was conducted through interviews involving three private school teachers. The teachers teach different private schools located in Yogyakarta, Jakarta, and Lampung. Teachers' perspectives expected to help us understand the relevant practice of character education and development needs to adjust the student in this era.

Abstract

The problem in this study was the low skill of students' critical thinking, especially in the subjects of natural science. This is due to the limited learning model used by a teacher in schools.  Preliminary observations by researchers have shown that teachers still use conventional learning models. This research is to know the difference of critical thinking ability of students who implement quantum learning model with the critical thinking ability of students who do not apply the quantum learning of fifth-grade students in natural science subjects at Warungbambu III Elementary School East Karawang. The research methods in this research using a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group design.  The data analysis technique to test hypotheses is done by calculating the statistical independent t-test Samples. Based on the results shows that there are differences in students' critical thinking skills implementing the quantum learning model with the critical thinking skill of students who do not apply the quantum learning model of fifth-grade students in natural science subjects at Warungbambu III Elementary School East Karawang. It is evidenced by the value of sig (2-tailed) 0,000 ? 0.05, which means that the hypothesis is accepted.

Abstract

The problem in this research is the low ability of students to dance. This can be seen from the teacher has not stimulated students in dancing and the lack of student creativity in creating dance movements. This research aims to test the significance of the relationship of creativity with the ability to dance in students' elementary school. This research is a correlational study using a quantitative approach. Data collection techniques through creative tests and dance skills test.  Analytical techniques using prerequisite analysis tests include normality testing, linearity test, and hypothesis testing using the product-moment correlation analysis with the level of significance of the analysis results by 5%. Based on the results, the study showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between creativity and the ability to dance fourth-grade students of elementary school. This is evidenced by the significance of the 0.02 (P ? 0.05), meaning there is a positive relationship between creativity and the ability to dance.

This study aims to determine the use of big book media on the reading interest of elementary school students in grade II in Pulokalapa II Elementary School because when observing in Pulocalapa II Elementary School, not all students have a high interest in reading and a lack of interesting learning media. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The research subjects were all grade II students of Pulocalapa II Elementary School, totaling 27 students consisting of 15 female students and 12 male students. Data collection methods used were observation, questionnaire/questionnaire, interview, and documentation. Research shows that the use of big book media is said to be successfully applied in the lower classes to foster interest in reading. From the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the use of big book media can foster interest in reading elementary school students in grade II of SDN Pulokalapa II in the 2018/2019 school year.

Abstract

Teaching in elementary school is another challenge for most teachers. While kids as students considered as hard in creating good learning process, some researchers try to propose joyful learning for students in elementary school. However, many barriers come in that effort for real enjoyable learning environment. This chapter tries to propose mobile learning as option to create joyful learning. Since that mobile learning can includes many types of joyful learning components and its familiriaty to students, it means that should be easier for teachers to implement that. This chapter also tries to explain how can teachers create mobile learning easily, thus teachers themselves can feel enjoy in learning process. So, whenever both teachers and students already feel their happiness, they will also express their enthusiasm as one of the most important thing in creating joyful learning

Abstract

This study examines the experiences of eight teachers who have graduated from an online course. The SEAMEO INNOTECH GURO21. The primary data collection method made use of one on one interviews.  The results of the study informed that in understanding the lived experiences of those who graduated from the first course of SEAMEO INNOTECH GURO21 can be categorized into two themes: (a) equipping teachers with the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values of the 21st century; and (2) facilitating 21st century learning. This research revealed that as teachers, one must be knowledgeable enough to carefully choose strategies and techniques tailored-fit for the kind and level of the learners. The acquisition of the 21st century skills has become an essential part of the generation. Thus, teachers must undergo seminars and workshops and even enroll in online courses to be upgraded with the latest trends of this generation. The participants, from their responses, revealed the change within themselves in line with their profession and in the development of their personality. The course had made them shift from being a traditional teacher to a techno-savvy one. This means using techniques and strategies the old way and how they smoothly transformed into technology-based teaching. Recommendations are offered for school heads, and for further research. This is to further enhance this study and to compare other findings in line with teacher development programs through online courses.
