Abstract

The study explores the smartphone's role in hindering and helping high school students learn English at a private school in Cambodia. The study used a questionnaire with items adapted from previous literature to investigate a group of students' perceptions of the effects of smartphones on communication, engagement, performance, and self-efficacy. It also looked into the general impacts of smartphones on students' language learning. Responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, an online link to the questionnaire using Google Forms was electronically shared with 200 students in a population of 515. One hundred forty-six participants completed the questionnaire. Descriptive statistics analyses, such as percentage, mean, and standard deviation, were performed for the study. The results from the investigation showed that smartphones positively impacted students' language learning overall. The researcher also discovered a reported association between smartphone and self-efficacy, communication, engagement, and student academic performance. Therefore, classroom teachers, educators, and policymakers need to continue exploring the potential of smartphones in enhancing language learning experience and outcomes and motivating students as they go through different experiences in English language learning. Based on the student participants' quantitative and narrative responses, the study recommends careful use of smartphones in the classroom and strict measures to reduce negative consequences.

Abstract

Cholesterol in the body is divided into three parts, namely Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) and Triglycerides. Excessive cholesterol in the blood can cause hypercholesterolemia. The Simargaolgaol plant (Aglaonema modestum Schott ex Engl) is one of the plants that people use as traditional medicine to cure various types of diseases. This study aims to analyze the effect of administering simargaolgaol leaf extract on reducing cholesterol levels in male Wistar rats fed a high-fat diet. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 6 groups, namely K0+ (Normal Group), K0- (Negative Control), K+ (Positive Control given simvastatin), varying doses 100 mg/KgBW, 200 mg/KgBW, 300mg/KgBW. The data obtained was analyzed using One way Anova statistical analysis with SPSS for Windows software. The data that has been analyzed has a significant value of p<0.05, which means that administration of ethanol extract of simargaolgaol leaves (Aglaonema modestum Schott ex Engl) shows an effect on reducing cholesterol in the blood. Abstract

The lack of Sentani women as members of the DPRD in Jayapura Regency does not illustrate that Papua is one of the provinces that is given space to express democratic life through the special autonomy policy which is predicted to be a new era for Papua towards progress or equality in political life. This research aims to explore the ability and capacity of the MRP in fighting for Sentani women's political rights in accordance with its duties and authority. Second, how is political recruitment carried out by political parties specifically for Sentani indigenous women cadres who are prepared to become legislative members. Third: the influence of local forces which then took away the privileges of sentani women so that they did not have the opportunity to pursue a career in politics. This research applies qualitative descriptive methods. Data was collected through observation, interviews and documentation. This research shows that the MRP's authority cannot be configured into political decisions that influence political parties to prioritize Papuan women in general and Sentani women in particular in political party management. In preparing cadres, political parties refer to the basic bylaws where the recruitment of cadres is guided by figures who are able to increase the party's electability. The influence of local forces in the Sentani cultural structure contributes to the minimal involvement of Sentani women in political participation.
