Abstract

This study aims to describe the effectiveness of Quantum Teaching learning model on mathematics learning in terms of aspects of student learning motivation. The type of experiment in this study was quasi experimental research (quasi alphabets experiment) and experimental design that used up was one-Group Pretest-Posttest-. The population in this research was the whole grade VIII of SMPMuhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta, which was grade VIII-D as sample. The independent variable in this study was a model of Quantum Learning Teaching and the dependent variable in this study was the studentmotivation mathematic’slearning. The instrument used was the student learning motivation questionnaire. To test the effectiveness of Quantum Learning Teaching model, the data were analyzed by using one sample t-test. The results showed that the model of Quantum Learning Teaching effective motivational aspects of learning math.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to look at improving students' ability mathematical connection. Improve ability mathematical connection by developing Realistic Mathematics (RME) learning tools. This research is research and development, the results of this product are RPP, student activity sheets, teacher book guidelines, and student books. Development of learning tools based on a realistic approach developed using the 4-D development model from Thiagarajan. This research was conducted in grade VIII Junior High School 2 Candi Sidoarjo. The results of this study indicate: learning devices that are developed are valid, both in content validity and construction validity, there is an increase in ability mathematical connection of students using learning developed devices, and learning devices developed meet the criteria effectively, seen from: a) students' mathematical connection abilities are met , b) the ideal time of student activity is fulfilled, c) the teacher's performance in managing the class is fulfilled and d) the student's positive response.

Abstract

Algebra is one of concept that must be learned  by pupils. It is because the algebraic concept can be used in all areas of mathematics. One of the ways that is used to develop pupils' algebraic abilities is to think algebraically. While one of the ways  to develop pupils' algebraic thinking skills is to adapt pupils with mathematical problem solving. The purpose of this study is describing algebraic thinking profiles of junior high school pupils in mathematical problem solving. The description of pupils' algebraic thinking profiles is explained based on six indicators namely generalization, abstraction, analytic thinking, dynamic thinking, modeling and organization. This research is a qualitative study using test and interview methods. The research subjects consisted of one student in each student with high mathematical abilities, medium mathematical abilities and low mathematical abilities. The results showed that there were differences in algebraic thinking  of junior high school pupils  in solving mathematics in terms of mathematical abilities. Based on research data shows  that pupils with high mathematical abilities always think algebraically in each problems solving are given, while students with medium and low ability do not always think algebraically in each of problem solving.
