Abstract

Introduction: Fatigue in stroke patients can occur during the acute phase (2 weeks) or for a long time after the attack. This study aimed to find out the description of fatigue characteristics of post stroke patients. Descriptive analytical methodology with cross sectional design, 22 people (sample) obtained by purposive sampling technique. The research sample is stroke patient with fatigue. The results of the frequency distribution test showed the average age of respondents 54.68 ± 8.00 with 95% CI 48.90-61.65, female gender (63.6%), mild-moderate emotional disturbance (59.1%) , average post-stroke fatigue score 38.87 ± 7.83 and 95% CI 35.71 - 42.66. Discussion: the characteristics of patients experiencing fatigue is very diverse, it is necessary to see the correlation between characteristics with the incidence of fatigue post stroke

Abstract

Introduction: Enteral feeding intolerance is a common problem in low birth weight infants. This study aimed to analyze the effects of sleep positioning on low birth weight infants on the occurrence of enteral feeding intolerance. Methodology: This quasi experiment was applied on 20 low birth weight infants with a purposive sampling technique. The infants were grouped into control and intervention. Infants in the control group were given intervention with routine procedures; while those in the intervention group were performed prone sleep positioning after enteral feeding with the head of the bed elevated 30 degrees during the enteral feeding. Results: Independent t-test and Fisher’s Exact Test analysis showed that sleep positioning could decrease desaturation event (p value = 0.011), abdominal distension (p value = 0.017), and frequency of vomiting (p value = 0.035). Discussion: Nurses can make sleep positioning as standard operating procedures in low birth weight infants who have enteral feeding intolerance

Abstract

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder characterized by elevated blood glucose levels. Chronic complications of DM affect coronary circulation, peripheral vascularization, and blood vessels of the brain. Decrease in peripheral vascularization increases the risk of tissue ischemia and weakens functional status, therefore it is necessary to control blood glucose levels. Islam teaches to its believers to control their diet, where diet is one of the four pillars of diabetes management. Methodology: this is analytic descriptive research with cross sectional methods in 67 respondents taken by consecutive sampling technique. Results: There was a significant correlation within blood glucose control and decreased peripheral vascularization in DM patients (p-value 0.010). Discussion: need further research regarding nursing intervention to control blood glucose.

Abstract

Introduction: As stated by the Ministry of Health, hospital accreditation is mandatory done through a series of assessments and improvements as a step to ensure the hospital in prioritizing public services, safety and protection. Nursing care as one of the main services in hospitals is the most widely rated service in accreditation. Therefore, this study was done to determine the nurse's perception of the impact of accreditation on nursing. Methodology: This qualitative study examined 21 hospital nurses as its respondents. The data were collected by in-depth interviews using interview guides. The data were then analyzed and categorized to determine the theme. Results: According to the nurses, hospital accreditation was important to implement. The positive impacts of accreditation were the increased care of nurses on patient safety indicators, among others, improvements in the problem reporting flow, compliance with standard operating procedures, communication among health workers, documentation, service facilities,continuing nurses education, health education, and working enviroument. Discussion: a positive outlook on accreditation activities is a good start for hospitals to continue to improve service quality. Because the main thing in service is the quality of service assessed from the clinical indicators of the service, not the completeness of the documentation.

Abstract

Spirituality is needed in dealing with cervical cancer patients. Researches show that cervical cancer patients who have low spiritual level tend to be more depressive compared to those with good spiritual level. This study aimed to explore the spiritual experience of survivor among cervical cancer patients. The study used a hermeneutic phenomenology method, involving five participants in Demak, Jepara and Kendal areas. Data retrieval was collected by semi structured interview followed by data transciption. Data analysis used content analysis. The finding showed that the spiritual gave strength and motivation to those participants since they were having treatment until healed.

Abstract

Introduction: Quality patient centered care will improve the quality of nursing care and the patients independence, life quality, and self-efficacy. It also reduces the rate of disease recurrence, the length of stay (LOS), and the cost of care. Clinical supervision of academic model is a method to increase professionalism in the delivery of nursing care. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of clinical supervision academic model of head nurses on the quality of discharge planning. The study represented a pre-post test quasi-experimental design with a control group. The population was all nurses in Mitra Siaga hospital. The samples were 51 nurses selected by non-probability sampling. The statistical analysis used was one-way ANOVA. The results showed that the clinical supervision of academic model of the head nurses had a significant effect on improving the ability of nurse in applying patient centered care. Clinical supervision of academic model is a competence that nursing managers should have; therefore, it is suggested that head nurses provide guidance and supervision continuosly to maintain and improve the quality of patient centered care.

Abstract

Introduction:Anxiety during pregnancy in the first, second and third trimester is very likely to occur, especially on the third trimester of pregnancy approaching labor time. Anxiety can be reduced in various ways,for instanceby having positive thinking, praying, story sharing with others, meditation, and hydrotherapy. One form of hydrotherapy issoaking feet in warm water. This research aims to find out the effect of soaking feet in warm water towards the anxiety levelsof the third trimester pregnant women at Pegandon Community Health Centre in Kendal. This research used quasi experimental time series design without comparison group. The samples are 36 respondents were taken by purposive sampling. The instrument used is Hamilton anxiety level questionnaire sheet and observation sheet. The data is analyzed by Wilcoxon test. The result shows there are effects of soaking feet in warm water towards the the third trimester pregnant women’s anxiety levels at Pegandon Community Health Centre in Kendal with 0,000 < 0,05 p-value. The writer hopes third trimester pregnant women who experience anxiety can soaking feet in warm water as an alternative therapy for anxiety.
