Abstract

Music often serves as a space for humans to express and interpret emotional experiences that are difficult to express directly. The song “Sorai” by Nadin Amizah presents poetic and symbolic lyrics that open up opportunities for various interpretations, particularly regarding the meaning of relationships, separation, and sincerity. This study aims to reveal the moral message contained in the lyrics of “Sorai” through Roland Barthes' semiotic approach. This study uses an interpretive qualitative method, with data obtained through analysis of the song lyrics, literature study, and interviews with five fans selected purposively. The analysis was conducted by tracing the denotative, connotative, and mythical meanings to understand how the signs in the lyrics form a moral message. The results show that “Sorai” represents human relationships as a process of mutual help and mutual healing, without demands for ownership or continuity. This song constructs the meaning that separation is not a failure, but rather a part of emotional maturity that can be accepted with sincerity. These findings confirm that music not only functions as entertainment, but also as a medium of communication that conveys human values reflectively.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Adiwiyata School Program in building environmental care character at SD Negeri 1 Ngrandu, Trenggalek. The Adiwiyata Program, jointly initiated by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry and the Ministry of Education and Culture, seeks to create schools as learning centers that cultivate environmental responsibility. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Research subjects included the school principal, Adiwiyata team, seven teachers, school committee, and twelve students from grades 4, 5, and 6. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model encompassing data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was verified through source triangulation and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that: (1) planning was conducted in a participatory and systematic manner through the Environmental Potential and Problem Identification (IPMLH) process involving all stakeholders; (2) implementation covered all four main components—environmental policy, environment-based curriculum, participatory environmental activities, and eco-friendly facility management; (3) changes in students' environmental character progressed across the knowing, feeling, and acting domains; (4) integration of Islamic spiritual values such as the concepts of khalifah fil ardh and amanah strengthened intrinsic motivation and behavioral consistency; and (5) key supporting factors included exemplary leadership and teacher commitment, while inhibiting factors encompassed budget constraints, high teacher workload, and inconsistency between school and home habits.

Abstract

The Memayu Buyut Trusmi ritual is a traditional custom that is still preserved by the Trusmi community as part of their efforts to preserve local culture. This study aims to analyze the role of communication practices in the Memayu Buyut Trusmi ritual in maintaining cultural values, collective identity, and social solidarity within the community. This study uses a qualitative approach with a communication ethnography method. Data were obtained through participatory observation and in-depth interviews with religious leaders, key figures, and the community directly involved in the ritual. Data analysis was conducted using Dell Hymes' SPEAKING framework, which includes the elements of Setting, Participants, Ends, Act Sequence, Key, Instrumentalities, Norms, and Genre. The results of the study show that the Trusmi Memayu Buyut Ritual is a structured and meaningful cultural communication event. Cultural preservation is not only reflected in the physical maintenance of sacred buildings through the replacement of welit, but also through ritual communication that is symbolic, repetitive, and participatory. The involvement of traditional and religious authorities and the active participation of the community confirm that ritual communication plays an important role in the inheritance of values, the strengthening of cultural identity, and the sustainability of the traditions of the Trusmi community.

Abstract

The development of technology creates the new form of interpersonal relation, which is known as virtual relationship. Building online relationship is widely used by people especially young people. The phenomenon of building virtual relationship tends to make friendship or girl/boyfriend through the feature of Telegram, Anonymous Chat. However, this feature also vulnerable to digital sexual harassment and data privacy because this feature is anonymous. This research is intended to describe and analyses the phenomenon of self-disclosure in building virtual relationship through anonymous chat feature in Telegram. This study employs descriptive approach with in-depth interview with five informants who have experienced virtual relationship through the media. The findings of the research show that all informants have experienced the stages of self-disclosure as it is explained by social penetration theory, starting from orientation to stable exchange. In the initial stage, informants tended to disclose general and secure information as a form of caution in an anonymous space. As interactions and trust developed, informants began to reveal more personal information, including emotional experiences and true identities, although still with selectivity. These findings suggest that anonymity does not always hinder self-disclosure, but rather can be a springboard for developing closeness if managed carefully and with positive communication. This study also found that self-disclosure with strangers is easier than with someone within one's social circle.
