Abstract

Black liquor is a residual cooking liquid containing organic chemicals utilized as fuel in the recovery boiler and inorganic chemicals that can be recovered into cooking liquid through the recovery boiler process. The recovery boiler is a specialized boiler unit used to restore black liquor by reducing sodium sulfate into sodium sulfide. The research method involved field observations, liquor content analysis, and stoichiometric calculations to determine the sodium sulfate requirement. The calculations revealed that the sodium sulfide content obtained from the recovery boiler process in green liquor was 24.428 g/l Na2O, requiring a reactive amount of 46,5225.0328 kg/day of sodium sulfate. The target sodium sulfide content in the green liquor aimed for was 18-30 g/l. The results indicated that the sodium sulfide content has met the predetermined target and can be utilized for subsequent processes.

Abstract

Tablolong Beach, Kupang, West Nusa Tenggara, has significant potential for sea cucumber aquaculture development. This study examines the environmental conditions, climatic factors, and local natural resources that support sea cucumber farming in this area. The results showed that Tablolong Beach has very suitable environmental characteristics for sea cucumber growth, including suitable water temperature and sufficient natural food availability. In addition, the local community has strong traditional knowledge on sea cucumber collection and cultivation. the purpose of this study was to determine the potential and types of sea cucumbers found around Tablolong beach. This research method is an experimental method where samples are taken by diving in the waters of Tablolong beach. Sea cucumber species found consisted of H. atra, H. leucospilota, H. fuscocinerea, and S. monoturbeculatus. This research provides an important basis for designing a sustainable sea cucumber aquaculture development plan in Tablolong Beach, integrating ecological, economic, and social aspects. By utilizing the natural potential and local knowledge, the development of sea cucumber aquaculture in this area can become a model for sustainable utilization of marine resources and support the livelihoods of coastal communities

Abstract

Harvest and post-harvest processes are crucial in agriculture, with ozone and irradiation technologies offering sustainable solutions to extend shelf life, reduce spoilage, and enhance food security and competitiveness. The research focuses on determining ozone's impact on vegetable freshness, providing implementation recommendations. Pattimura University's lab experiment on Gnetum gnemon L. leaves evaluates ozone tech for vegetable preservation. Factors include ozone dosage and treatment duration. Data will undergo univariate and SWOT analysis. Research findings indicate that applying ozone at 3 ppm for 25 minutes preserves Gnetum gnemon L. freshness. Implementing ozone in Ambon's food resilience involves education, infrastructure, certification, marketing, and government support.

Abstract

In the context of the 21st century, Myanmar holds a significant geopolitical position, serving as a hotbed of competition between India and China in the Indian Ocean and Southeast Asia region. To counter India’s influence, China has employed various tools to increase its sway in Myanmar. This article investigates China’s intervention policies in Myanmar in the face of challenges from India. The research results indicate that China is implementing four main policies to intervene in Myanmar: (1) Approaching political factions; (2) Exploiting ethnic issues, particularly the Rohingya; (3) Creating economic dependence through investment and trade; (4) Enhancing military and defense cooperation. However, Myanmar’s policies have undergone numerous changes, causing China’s influence to waver. Nevertheless, in the current volatile context, Myanmar tends to rely on China economically and militarily. This has posed challenges to India’s position, especially since the National League for Democracy (NLD) leader - Aung San Suu Kyi was ousted.

Abstract

Indian Sub-continent, especially Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan were divided by Islamic ideology. Bangladesh gained independence from West Pakistan in 1971 with the unbelievable support of the neighboring country India. The present article attempts to find out about the recent time controversy through social media between these countries. In the 2023 Men’s World Cup Cricket Final match India vs Australia held on November 19, 2023, Australia won by 6 Wickets. Here Bangladeshi young cricket lovers enjoyed supporting Team Australia but Indians could not take it positively. They think Bangladesh as a Muslim country avoids Hindus and does not respect and love them. However, the study reveals that 83% disagree that Islam is related to support. 59.50% voted that a player’s behavior is responsible for the support of India and only 3% think that religion may affect supporting the cricket matches. Finally, an effective recommendation has been structured for resolving the crisis.

Abstract

Biobriquettes are products obtained from the compaction process of biomass residue used as fuel and formed by using a binding agent. In this study, the biomass used comprised palm fronds and palm shells. The objective was to determine the characteristics of biobriquettes. The research methodology adopted was quantitative experimentation. Results showed that the highest calorific value of biobriquettes was 6729.92 cal/g (1:3-sago 15%), the lowest moisture content was 1.1168% (1:3-tapioca 10%), the lowest ash content was 9.5232% (1:3-sago 10%) and the highest density was 0.9927 g/cm3 (1:3-tapioca 20%). Based on the test results, it can be concluded that the optimal ratio of raw materials palm fronds to palm kernel shells for biobriquette fabrication is 1:3 with 10% tapioca flour and 10-15% sago flour as binders.

Abstract

Butylated Hydroxyanisole (BHA) is an antioxidant with phenolic groups commonly added to food materials as an oxidative deterrent. According to The Acceptable Daily Intake (ADI), the permissible human consumption limit for BHA is very low. Therefore, having a sensitive and simple analytical method for BHA determination is important. In this study, we developed an activated carbon paste electrode (aCPE) for the voltammetric determination of BHA in food samples. Carbon paste electrode (CPE) was activated in 1 M H2SO4 solution in two steps: 10 cycles of cyclic voltammetry followed by immersion in 1 M H2SO4 solution for 30 seconds. The aCPE electrode had been used for BHA determination in food samples and the results were in good agreement with those of HPLC.

Abstract

Rare earth metal frequently utilized in technological advancements is cerium. The high utilization of cerium correlates with the depletion of primary REEs reserves and the accumulation of secondary materials that can enter aquatic environments. Recycling and recovery of REEs through methods such as solvent extraction, filtration, and adsorption are commonly employed. Adsorption is chosen due to the abundance of adsorbent materials in nature, simple fabrication, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Calcium alginate biosorbent loaded with magnetite (Ca-Alg/Fe3O4) has been used to adsorb (Ce3+)aq, with optimal conditions achieved at Ca-alginate:Fe3O4 ratio of 2:1 (w/w), 0.075 g, pH 4, a contact time of 210 minutes, and 250 ppm, [Ce3+]0. The adsorption process follows the Langmuir isotherm model with qmax at 50.505 mg/g. Hence, the Ca-Alg/Fe3O4 biosorbent shows potential in adsorbing (Ce3+)aq.
