Abstract

Pearl oysters (Pinctada maxima) are a high-value fishery commodity with significant development prospects, due to increasing demand and selling value in domestic and international markets. One of the challenges in pearl oyster cultivation is determining the optimal salinity to improve spat (seed) survival. This study aims to evaluate the effect of various salinity levels on the survival of Pinctada maxima spat and determine the optimal salinity. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with four salinity treatments: 35 ppt, 30 ppt, 25 ppt, and 20 ppt, each with three replicates. Results showed that the highest survival rate was found at 35 ppt (63%) and 30 ppt (23%) salinity, while the lowest survival rate was at 25 ppt (7%) and 20 ppt (1%) salinity. Salinity of 35 ppt gave the best results for survival and weight growth of pearl oyster spat, followed by salinity of 30 ppt. These findings have important implications for the development of more effective and efficient culture methods to improve pearl production and quality.

Abstract

Red Palm Oil (RPO) is the result of refining Crude Palm Oil (CPO). In further processing to obtain cooking oil, several processes are undergone to produce a clear oil, which is very different from its original product, CPO. RPO is rich in beta-carotene and its refining process does not include bleaching. The production of RPO utilizes the acid degumming method with different acid variations, namely phosphoric and sulfuric acid, with varying concentrations of 0.05% and 0.075%. The results showed that the average percentage of RPO produced reaches 44.05%. Furthermore, the quality analysis of RPO also meets the SNI-3741-1995 standards (quality standard of cooking oil), with the average of free fatty acid value of 1.41% (max 3%), peroxide value of 1.04 mg oxygen/100 g (max 1.6 mg oxygen/100 g), and moisture value of 0.04% (max 0.3%).

Abstract

This research investigates the effectiveness of two machine learning models (Logistic Regression and Random Forest) in predicting employee turnover. This research uses IBM HR Analytics employee attrition and performance dataset and performance dataset from Kaggle and implements nested ensemble models in Google Colab. After data pre-processing steps such as feature merging, generation, engineering, cleaning, coding, and normalisation, the data is divided into training and testing sets. The models were trained and evaluated based on their accuracy. The results of averaging the three departments showed that the Random Forest model achieved the highest accuracy (97.7%) compared to Logistic Regression (94.6%). Therefore, this study shows that Logistic Regression is the most suitable model to predict employee turnover in the given dataset.

Abstract

This study compares the accuracy of K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) and Naive Bayes algorithms in detecting defects in impeller products. Using a dataset of impeller images, we applied preprocessing, feature extraction, and selection techniques. The models were assessed using metrics such as precision, accuracy, F1-score, recall. and with KNN achieving 98.11% accuracy and Naive Bayes 85.38%. The t-SNE visualization confirmed distinct clustering of defective and non-defective products. Our findings suggest that KNN is more reliable for defect detection in industrial applications. These results provide valuable insights for implementing effective machine learning models in manufacturing quality control.
