Abstract

This article aims to highlight the public criticism of the actors who are involved and/or who involve in the issues surrounding the film Innocence of Moslem (IM). Using appraisal theory of Martin and White, this article focuses on the description of the Indonesian public's view of the IM, by comparing public comments on the Internet. Three groups of public comments are used as data sources, the comments on the news that there are three in www.antaranews.com and www.liputan.com. The comments are classified based on the theory appraisal that includes emotional, ethical, and aesthetic. Based on this analysis, it can be concluded that affectively, Indonesian public attitudes towards the IM movie is divided into three types, ie, negative, neutral and positive. Negative attitudes are most prevalent attitude among the public of Indonesia (75%), neutral assessment (12%) and positive ratings (13%). Affect which emerged as a reaction to the IM into the category of "displeasure," the disappointed and angry as the two emotions that fall in the negative category. From the aspect of ethics, attitude in "makes the movie" is considered by the Indonesian public as having broken the law in Indonesia, such as "the act of defiling religion". In addition, the act has violated Islamic law. From an aesthetic aspect, there are two types of appreciation, the first is compositions negative appreciation, and the second is neutral appreciation

Abstract

This paper describes feminism in the novel Geni Jora by Abidah El Khalieqy and its implications toward learning of literature in schools. The data which were analyzed in this paper are the novel Geni Jora by Abidah El Khalieqy and books that are related to the object of research, such as the study of feminism. The values of feminism contained in this novel include: female characters are 1) daring to disagree, 2) having aspirations and ambitions, 3) having a desired social status, 4) daring to compete, 5) able to attempt providing insight, 6) ending the relationship with strategy, 7) rejecting the restriction of education for women, 8) rejecting the restriction of freedom for women outside the home, 9) rejecting polygamy. Those values can be applied in the learning of Indonesian language and literature at the 11th grade of high school in the aspect of reading with the Standards of Competence of understanding various tales, Indonesian novels/translated novels and Basic Competence of analyzing the intrinsic and extrinsic elements of Indonesian or translated novels with learning indicators that students are able to find the intrinsic elements (plot, theme, characterization, perspective, background and mandate) and extrinsic elements (cultural values, social values, and the value of education) in Indonesian/translated novels. ai lebih dari satu bahasa. It is reflected in the statistical data indicating that the average value of the total of the skills of critical reading of a text on Islamic Banking majors semester IV is at number 77,35 and is skilled enough to qualify. Specifically, the percentage of the skill level of every aspect of critical reading on Islamic Banking Majors Semester IV can be outlined as follows, (1) aspects of skills to determine the facts in the text represents 22.5% of the total critical reading skills, (2) aspects of skills to determine the opinion in the text represents 22.2% of the total critical reading skills, (3) aspects of skills conclude text content representing 20.3% of the total critical reading skills, (4) aspects of skills analyze the use of the language within the text represent 15.7% of the total critical reading skills, (5) aspects of skills opined against text content represent 19,3% of the total critical reading skills.

Abstract

Latar belakang situasi dan konteks kalimat tutur dalam perkuliahan Bahasa Indonesia yang terjadi dalam tatap muka pada dua Sistem Kredit Semester (SKS) dihadiri seluruh mahasiswa empat program studi di STAI Sultan Abdurrahman Tanjungpinang dalam satu ruang belajar, mendorong peneliti mengamati bagaimana tuturan kesantunan berbahasa mahasiswa tersebut. Tuturan yang menyatakan pernyataan, pertanyaan dan perintah sangat bergantung pada situasi dan konteks tutur. Penelitian ini khusus pada kesantunan berbahasa dalam mengungkapkan kalimat perintah yang sopan dan tidak sopan dalam kegiatan diskusi, bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kalimat perintah dan selanjutnya menganalisis kesantunan berbahasa yang terkandung dalam tuturan kalimat perintah dengan teknik observasi dan teknik cakap, simak, libat, catat sesuai situasi dan konteks selama kegiatan perkuliahan Bahasa Indonesia tersebut berlangsung. Kesantunan mengungkapkan kalimat perintah selama perkuliahan Bahasa Indonesia Mahasiswa STAI Sultan Abdurrahman Tanjungpinang Kepulauan Riau terpusat kepada petutur, yaitu orang yang mendapat perintah. Kesantunan dalam mengungkapkan perintah berdasarkan skala untung-rugi, skala kelangsungan dan ketidaklangsungan, skala pemakaian sapaan antara sapaan yang hormat dengan sapaan yang akrab, faktor kesementaraan seseorang dalam hubungannya dengan orang lain dalam situasi ujar dapat membedakan derajat kesopanan antara tuturan yang kurang sopan, sopan, dengan tuturan yang lebih sopan. Tuturan yang mengungkapkan perintah yang kurang sopan bergantung pada jenis kalimat imperatif atau ilokusi langsung. Tuturan perintah yang sopan atau lebih sopan bergantung pada jenis kalimat deklaratif dan interogatif atau ilokusi tidak langsung.

Abstract

Bahasa adalah alat komunikasi yang berperan penting dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Ketika berkomunikasi seseorang harus  memperhatikan bahasa yang digunakannya. Di antara beberapa bentuk komunikasi, pidato adalah satu satu bentuk komunikasi yang membutuhkan penggunaan bahasa yang tepat. Namun, dalam kenyataannya banyak orator cenderung untuk mencampurkadukan berbagai  bahasa dalam berpidato. Tulisan ini mencoba membahas campur kode yang muncul dalam pidato-pidato Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie dan Megawati Soekarnoputri dalam Hari Pancasila pada 2011 dan implikasinya dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia. Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie dan Megawati Soekarnoputri pada pidato Peringatan tersebut melakukan campur kode dalam bentuk kata, frasa, kalimat, bahkan singkatan. Peristiwa campur kode ini terjadi antara bahasa Indonesia dengan bahasa Inggris, bahasa Indonesia dengan bahasa Jerman, bahasa Indonesia dengan bahasa Belanda, dan bahasa Indonesia dengan bahasa Sansekerta. Hal itu dilakukan karena latar belakang yang dimiliki, ingin menekankan maksud tertentu, menghormati pendengar, maupun mempermudah dalam menyampaikan maksud. Saat proses pembelajaran berpidato di sekolah peristiwa campur kode jelas sangat berpengaruh karena pada umumnya siswa menguasai lebih dari satu bahasa. Tentunya mereka saat berpidato besar kemungkinan mencampuradukan bahasa yang mereka kuasai. Padahal, seharusnya siswa wajib menggunakan bahasa Indonesia yang baik dan benar ketika sedang berpidato. Abstract

Novel The Da Peci Kode karya Ben Sohib adalah novel yang menggambarkan budaya Betawi keturuan Arab yang tinggal di Condet. Penelitian  ini bertujuan melihat bagaimana realitas budaya Betawi keturuan Arab yang ditampilkan dalam novel ini. Selain itu, untuk mengungkapkan kritik sosial yang disampaikan penulis dalam karyanya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan sosiologi sastra untuk mengungkapkan bagaimana  hubungan antara sastra dan masyarakat, bagaimana hubungan tersebut terjadi, dan bagaimana keterkaitannya. Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah kondisi sosial Betawi keturunan orang Arab dalam novel ini ialah kentalnya pengaruh Islam dan Arab pada masyarakat tersebut. Dalam Pembelajaran bahasa dan sastra Indonesia novel ini dapat digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran. Novel ini memberikan nilai-nilai positif, seperti sikap kritis, menghargai pendapat yang berbeda, dan menghormati orang tua. Nilai-nilai tersebut adalah pondasi dasar untuk membangun karakter siswa.

Abstract

Fiksi transkultural muncul di Indonesia sejak masa kolonial Belanda melalui para pengarang keturunan Tionghoa generasi kedua maupun berikutnya. Tema transkultur lahir sebagai bentuk ekspresi dari kegelisahan mereka sebagai diasporan Cina di wilayah ini. Negosiasi dan resistensi terhadap budaya leluhur yang terjadi dalam proses pembentukan identitas mereka dimanifestasikan dalam bentuk karya sastra yang menampilkan pergulatan para tokoh protagonisnya dalam menyikapi permasalahan kehidupan mereka. Dalam Bunga Roos dari Tjikembang karya Kwee Tek Hoay pergulatan itu muncul pada tokoh Bian Koen, Marsiti, dan Gwat Nio dan upaya penciptaan third space tampil secara simbolik pada tokoh Gwat Nio. Sedangkan dalam Dimsum Terakhir karya Clara Ng pergulatan tersebut muncul pada tokoh ayah—Nung Atasana, dan keempat perempuan anak kembarnya (Siska, Indah, Rosi, Novera) dengan upaya penciptaan third space yang intensif pada keempat protagonis perempuan. Hasil analisis ini menguatkan argumen bahwa identitas merupakan proses yang senantiasa dalam pergulatan (in the making) sebagaimana terlihat dalam kedua karya berbeda jaman ini. Dengan demikian, identitas ke-Cina-an bagi diasporan Tionghoa di Indonesia senantiasa cair, tidak kaku, dan selalu menghadapi dinamika renegosiasi dari jaman ke jaman.

Abstract

The issue of the lack tradition of reading among students needs attention and solution. Students need to be inspired, motivated, and facilitated so diligent and intense reading. For the progress of the study, reading is the basic skills are constantly required by the student. In the context of a student in college, an important reading skill by a student is critical reading skills. Critical reading skills involve aspects of critical thinking. Students trying to explore what were stated in the reading material and trying to explore the meaning. A critical reading activity not just memorize, but students with critical reading skills is possible does not accept what is presented, even college students understand the concept of what she or he had. Basically, when someone doing critical reading activity, he did it with thoughtful, attentive, insightful, analytical, evaluative, and instead want to find mistakes the author. Based on the facts and phenomena, critical reading skills so necessary for a college student. This study aims to describe the level of critical reading skills in college students majoring in Islamic Banking IV semester academic year 2012/2013. The research was conducted using a quantitative approach. This research uses the descriptive method. The population in this research is the whole Islamic Banking Majors semester IV amounted to 125. Abstract

Novel ini memberikan nilai-nilai positif, seperti sikap kritis, menghargai pendapat yang berbeda, dan menghormati orang tua. Nilai-nilai tersebut adalah pondasi dasar untuk membangun karakter siswa.
