Abstract

Introduction: HIV/AIDS has negative effects on the patient's mental health and social interaction, in addition to its negative effects on their physical health. Depression disorder is considered the second mental disorder in the world among patients with HIV/AIDS affects their life and causes social stigma. In Vietnam, various studies on HIV patients and depression disorders were examined. However, there are also many limitations in research with many aspects relate to the mental health quality in HIV patients. This cross-sectional study was conducted to examine the relationship between depression, smoking cigarettes, exercise habits and age in ARV - HIV patients. Methods: A qualitative approach was utilised to conduct the randomised investigation. The PHQ - 9 scale was used for evaluating depression in 128 Vietnamese ARV - HIV patients participating in the study. Results: According to the findings, depression and exercise have been shown to have a positive effect on smoking among HIV patients, and geriatric HIV patients are significantly less likely to smoke. Conclusion: HIV-positive individuals require an accurate identification and assessment of depressive symptoms, with the potential implementation of personalized exercise intensity programs aimed at assisting HIV patients in ceasing tobacco use. In addition, the study recommended exercise planning and patient adherence surveillance as means for assessing and modifying the treatment of HIV patients.

Abstract

Introduction: Taipa Sub-District in Palu City has a high prevalence of stunting, with 24.7% or 108 cases out of 437 toddlers measured. This makes Taipa, located in the Mamboro Health Center area, the sub-district with the highest stunting cases in Palu City. This research aims to analyze the relationship between children's health status (exclusive breastfeeding, colostrum feeding, frequency of breastfeeding, and history of infectious diseases) and the incidence of stunting in the Mamboro Health Center working area. Methods: This quantitative study uses a case-control design to determine the magnitude of risk factors related to children's health status and the incidence of stunting in toddlers within the Mamboro Health Center working area. The total sample comprised 204 toddlers, including 102 stunted toddlers (cases) and 102 normal toddlers (controls). Results: There is a significant relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and a history of infectious diseases with the incidence of stunting in toddlers (p<0.05). Mothers who do not provide exclusive breastfeeding have a 2.2 times higher risk of their children being stunted (OR = 2.225). Children who have experienced infectious diseases have a 1.9 times higher risk of becoming stunted (OR = 1.944). However, the frequency of breastfeeding and colostrum feeding did not show a significant relationship with stunting among toddlers in the Mamboro Health Center working area. Conclusion: The child's health status factors that are significantly related to the incidence of stunting include exclusive breastfeeding and a history of infectious diseases. These findings highlight the need for interventions promoting exclusive breastfeeding and effective management of infectious diseases to reduce stunting rates in this area.

Abstract

Introduction: The use of traditional medicines derived from the active ingredients of several types of plants is preferred by the community in treating several types of diseases. One of the plants that has been used by the community as medicine is purple leaves with the Latin name Grapthophylum pictum (L.) Griff. These leaves are traditionally used to treat rheumatism, menstruation, hemorrhoids, urinary tract infections, scabies, swelling, wounds, dermatitis, ear diseases, laxatives, and cancer. The aim of this study was to determine the total levels of secondary metabolites from purple leaf extract ethanol (PLEE) and evaluate the effect of administering PLEE on acute toxicity (LD50) in Wistar rats. Methods: This research is a laboratory experiment with a post test only controlled group design. The research subjects were 20 male Wistar rats, divided into 1 control group and 3 treatment groups, each consisting of 5 rats. The control group only received distilled water, the Treatment I group (P1) was given a suspension of the purple leaf extract test preparation at a dose of 500 mg/kg. Treatment group II (P2), received a suspension of the test preparation at a dose of 2,000 mg/kg, while Treatment group III (P3) received a suspension of the test preparation at a high dose of 5,000 mg/kg of mice. The test preparation was given orally with only one administration at the beginning of the research period and observation was carried out for 14 days. Data was obtained if the rats died after being given treatment. Results: The results showed that the total secondary metabolite content of purple leaves was alkaloids (24,725.99 mg/g), saponins (89.191 mg/g), flavonoids (6.332 mg/g) and tannins (0.884 mg/g), while based on toxicity the PLEE classification was mildly toxic with an LD50 value of 3,890 mg/kg in accordance with BPOM RI's acute toxicity potential at toxicity level 4 (oral LD50 500 – 5,000 mg/kg). Conclusion: PLEE showed the highest total content of secondary metabolites in alkaloids, and consumption of PLEE in high doses caused the death of rats with a mild toxic classification.

Abstract

ntroduction: Nurses play a pivotal role in the provision of healthcare services both within the Indonesian context and on a worldwide scale. The development of nursing competence is crucial in order to guarantee the provision of high-quality healthcare services. To examine the elements that are linked to the enhancement of nurse competence by means of the adoption of nursing career paths within hospital settings in Indonesia. Methods: A descriptive analytical design, utilising a cross-sectional approach with a sample size of 197 nurses. The data was obtained by administering a meticulously evaluated questionnaire, designed by the researchers, to the participants. The questionnaire's validity (r=0.361) and reliability (r=0.933) were thoroughly assessed. The analysis of the research data was conducted utilising multiple linear regression tests. Results: As established through the use of multiple linear regression tests, demonstrate a statistically significant positive association (p<0.05) between organisational loyalty, organisational support, guidance, and financing, and the implementation of nurse competence quality. The obtained coefficient of determination was 0.260, suggesting that the four independent variables considered in this study have the ability to collectively account for 26% of the variability observed in the implementation of nurse competence quality. It is important to note that the remaining variation is likely impacted by additional factors not included in the analysis. The guiding element has been identified as the primary determinant in the cultivation of quality competence within hospital settings while implementing nursing career routes. Conclusion: The present study establishes that factors such as organisational loyalty, organisational support, mentorship for nurses, and financial resources for career advancement have a significant impact on the enhancement of nursing competency along the career trajectory within hospital settings. The variable exerting the most significant influence is the provision of instructions for nurses.

Abstract

Introduction: Early childhood nutrition is a fundamental determinant of optimal growth and development. The study aimed to evaluate how mothers provide complementary feeding (CF) to infants and young children aged 6–23 months. It explored factors influencing the adoption of safe and hygienic CF practices recommended by the WHO and Infant and Child Feeding Guidelines. Methods: A non-experimental quantitative approach surveyed 1125 mothers across 28 districts/cities. Reliability was assessed using composite reliability (?_c), ensuring reliability threshold (?0.7) was met. Although most constructs comprised single items, they were deemed reliable. Results: Findings indicated that being the first child didn't significantly impact maternal understanding of CF (?=0.034, p=0.215) or adherence to safe CF practices (?=-0.001, p=0.307). Maternal employment status also showed no significant influence on CF knowledge (?=0.022, p=0.492) or safe CF practices (?=-0.01, p=0.568). However, maternal education significantly affected CF knowledge (?=0.060, p<.001) and safe CF practices (?=-0.030, p=0.004). Conclusion: In essence, higher maternal education levels correlated with better understanding of CF, thereby indirectly promoting safe and hygienic CF preparation.

Abstract

Introduction: Cervical cancer is still the "cold-blooded killer" in the world because most cases develop without any real symptoms in the early stages. Globally, cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women. Around 90% of the 342,000 deaths from cervical cancer occur in developing countries, including Indonesia. Cervical cancer is a disease that can be prevented through early detection. However, the number of women who undergo VIA examinations is still very small, so there are still many women who suffer from cervical cancer. This study aims to determine the direct and indirect influence of husband's support and sources of information on VIA examination behavior in an effort to detect cervical cancer early in women of childbearing age at the North Tondano District Health Center in 2023. Methods: The research design used was cross-sectional. The population in this study was women of childbearing age who were registered at the Pasar Minggu District Health Center. The total sample was 53 respondents. The analytical method used is Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using SmartPLS 2.0 and SPSS 23. Results: The results of the study show that the behavior variable for VIA examinations in an effort to detect cervical cancer early in women of childbearing age (WUS) at the North Tondano District Health Center is directly influenced by husband's support (47.1%) and information sources (31.3%), while other factors that were not considered influenced the VIA examination behavior variable by 21.6%. Conclusion: In conclusion, husband's support and effective information dissemination significantly enhance VIA examination participation, aiding in the early detection and prevention of cervical cancer among women of childbearing age. It is recommended to increase outreach in the community to promote early cancer detection.
