Abstract

Neurological deficits due to trauma, stroke and physical disability cause patients to be bedridden or use a wheelchair for a long time. Bed rest and/or fixed body positions for long periods increase the risk of decubitus ulcers. Prevention efforts can be carried out with optimal nutritional support, reducing friction, pressure, pulling, making regular position changes and decubitus wound care. Most people with disabilities at Posyandu Satu Hati have decubitus wounds in the buttocks area, and have received wound care sets, but have never been trained in decubitus wound care. The aim of the activity was to improve the knowledge and skills of cadres and people with disabilities in decubitus care at Posyandu Satu Hati Disability Center, Klaten. Abstract

The increasing number of cases of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) in living things is a problem of high health care costs and everything related to the progress of sustainable development (SDGs) in 2030. Uncontrolled antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is very detrimental and not only to global health problems, but also financially, food security, environmental welfare, and socio-economic development. In the case of health, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) which occurs everywhere and can attack anyone regardless of age at the national, regional, and global levels if left unchecked, will cause death, disability, and increased health care costs. Knowledge about AMR is important to be disseminated and understood by the community. There are records from the Brangsong I Health Center for the last 5 years, the level of antibiotic use in Sidorejo Village has reached 90%, besides that there have also been 116 cases of tuberculosis, some of which ended in death. The PKK mothers of Sidorejo Village have high enthusiasm to understand and gain knowledge about AMR to the wider community. Based on this potential, Sidorejo Village has become a pioneer in caring for health through the Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) counseling program. This program is designed with a discussion flow for counseling programs, preparation, and counseling on AMR. The program will support the realization of a community that cares about AMR, prevents infectious diseases caused by microbes that are difficult to cure and becomes a pioneer in caring about AMR.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a significant health problem in Bengking Village, Jatinom District, especially during the rainy season, triggered by low public awareness in eradicating mosquito nests. This community service activity aims to empower the Bengking Village Women Farmers Group (KWT) by increasing knowledge and practices of DHF prevention, especially through the use of family medicinal plants (TOGA) and the implementation of Mosquito Nest Eradication (PSN) 4M Plus. The implementation method includes situation surveys, interactive counseling, demonstrations of making innovative products (herbal drinks), and post-activity monitoring and evaluation. A total of 40 KWT members actively participated in this activity. The results of the pre-test and post-test showed a significant increase in participant knowledge regarding the dangers of DHF, the mosquito life cycle, symptoms, and prevention and treatment strategies. In addition, there was an increase in public interest in planting and utilizing TOGA as a promotive and preventive measure. The success of this program is proven by the community's commitment to carrying out environmental cleanliness movements and consuming herbal concoctions, which collectively are expected to reduce DHF incidents and improve the quality of public health in Bengking Village in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

The community service activity titled “Implementation of Zakat Fund Distribution through Health Programs for the Poor in Lazismu Klaten: Free Modern Laser Circumcision” was organized by Universitas Muhammadiyah Klaten to improve access to healthcare services for the poor. Klaten Regency was selected as the program location due to its relatively high poverty rate, recorded at 12.04% as of March 2024, affecting approximately 141,840 individuals. This data reflects the urgent need for social and faith-based interventions to alleviate the economic burden faced by underprivileged families. Lazismu collected and distributed zakat funds to support a free circumcision program using safe and efficient laser technology. The implementation team formulated strategies through focus group discussions with health partners, then conducted outreach and selected participants from low-income families. A total of 60 children received free circumcision services. The results showed a reduction in healthcare costs, improved health literacy among beneficiaries, and strengthened the role of zakat in contributing to public health and social development.

Abstract

Child growth and development monitoring is crucial for early detection of developmental disorders. Indonesian Survey of Nutritional Status (SKI) data shows that stunting rates in 2023 were 21.5%, with increasing trends in wasting (8.5%) and overweight (4.2%) rates among toddlers. This community service activity aimed to assess growth and development status among preschool children and identify potential developmental disorders early through systematic screening at Pertiwi Tambak Kindergarten. The activity was conducted on May 16, 2024, involving 20 preschool children aged 54-72 months. Growth assessment included anthropometric measurements (weight, height), while development was evaluated using the Indonesian Pre-screening Development Questionnaire (KPSP). Participants comprised 15 males (75%) and 5 females (25%). Developmental screening revealed 19 children (95%) with appropriate development and 1 child (5%) requiring further evaluation, who was subsequently diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Most children showed age-appropriate development, indicating the importance of early screening programs in educational settings for timely intervention and the crucial role of collaboration between parents, teachers, and healthcare professionals in optimal child development monitoring.
