Abstract

Electronic records management is often simply understood as digitization. But failure comes over whenever on one side cultural and social factor are being less recognized and on the other side functions are being less understood. Although the technological infrastructure have been existing in many public institutions. In fact despite having its digital form, the files used in daily routine require wet-ink signatures and revisions on the physical documents. The implementation is less-succeed because it fails to articulate accountability. This research will elaborate a few of case studies, surveys, interviews and literature reviews. Further, this research discusses the need for improvement of digitization and electronic records management.

Abstract

Data within the framework of managing digital records are very important. However, there are data that are considered non-qualified due to its invalidness, duplication and retrieval issue. It happens because there are no control over reliability and authenticity, and organization fail to implement electronic records activity. As a result of non-qualified data, the information could not be obtained within second in accurate form. This study aims to describe the needs of data management within the scope of electronic records management to produce qualified information. The data management model is being developed through an analysis within framework of DMBoK (Data Management Body of Knowledge) and equipped with archival key concept. The framework is used because of its wider scope and easily customized to the needs of the organization. The sources are obtained through literature studies and field observations at Preservation Unit of National Archives of Indonesia. The results are data management including data governance, reference and master data management and data quality management.

Abstract

In the 19th and early 20th century, the Dutch Colonial Government had experienced an endemic that so called “information panic” about the situation in the Dutch East Indies. One of the case of this information panic is the reports about Boedi Oetomo, one of prominent organizations during early 20th century in Dutch East Indies. The Ministries of Colony in the Netherlands gained many reports from the colony about Boedi Oetomo, namely during its crucial period: the early years of its establishment and the decline of it. This paper aims to examine information panic about Boedi Oetomo. Moreover, this paper also examines the subjects that were discussed in the government reports and how the Dutch Parliament and the Minister of Colonies discussed about this organization in the Netherlands.

Abstract

Automatic Exchange of Information (AEoI), popularly known soon after Panama Papers took place, shows up as one among many solutions to overcome tax fraud. Nowadays studying AEoI limits itself on economic and political aspects. The article suggests that the study should discuss exchange object i.e data among others that are considered to be digital records and their problems to be. Literature study is implemented to understand its challenge and response in the developing countries, and digital records. The results are digital records of AEoI as supporting records influencing access policy, its relations with other records and its usefullness as evidence or tax information source.

Abstract

This paper aims to describe problems faced by archivists and efforts to overcome them from educational perspective. This study limits its scope within formal education. The methods used in collecting data are observation and interviews. The problems are quantity and quality of professional archivists. Many institutions do not have professional archivists. Full time archival education is urgently needed. Efforts should be made to improve quality and quantity of the existing archival study programs and the relation between national archival institution and higher education.
